Abstract

African leaves (Gymnanthemum amygdalina Del.) and palm leaves (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) which is contain flavonoid, saponin, alkaloid, and tannin can be used to decrease cholesterol levels and reduced the risk of cardiovascular disease. This study aims to determine the effect of EEDA dan EEDKS combination on blood cholesterol levels in hypercholesterolemic mice. Sample in this study was African leaves and palm leaves which were taken purposively without comparing samples from other regions, then extracted by maceration using ethanol 96%. The results of data analysis from the three EEDA and EEDKS groups effected cholesterol reduction due to the sig value <0.05. Based on ANOVA one way analysis of the five most effective treatments is simvastatin then dose 400-600mg/kgBB, dose 200-300mg/kgBB, dose 100-150mg/kgBB and CMC Na 1%. The combination of EEDA and EEDKS has an antihypercholesterol effect, the combination of EEDA and EEDKS has an antihypercholesterol effect that is comparable to the positive control, and the finding from this study that the most effective dosage of EEDA and EEDKS as antihypercholesterol is at dosage 400-600 mg/kgBB.

Abstract

Bacterial infection is a major factor in causing acne. The causes of acne are many (multifactorial), including genetic, endocrine, dietary factors, the activity of the sebaceous glands themselves, psychological factors, mucin, infection by Propionibacterium acne, cosmetics, and other chemicals. Pare extract can be formulated as a gell pimple, which can inhibit the growth of propionibacterium acne. The samples in this study were gell preparations of the ethanol extract of bitter melon with a concentration of 5%, 7.5%, 10%. Based on the results obtained, the addition of the ethanol extract concentration of bitter melon fruit depends on the extract produced. The higher the concentration of gell preparations, the better it is to inhibit bacterial growth. The results showing that pare fruit extract with a concetration of 5%, 7,5%, 10%, and as gell verile 0,025% get a variety of results. And a good resistance zone on the three concentrations that are most close to verile effectiveness is 10% concentration. In conclusion, bitter melon extract can be formulated as an acne medication that can inhibit the growth of the Propionibacterium acnes bacteria.

Abstract

Antibacterial is a compound that can inhibit the growth of bacteria that can be used for the treatment of infections in humans. One of the bacteria that can cause interference with the system is the Escherichia coli bacteria, where the Escherichia coli bacteria is widely spread around us. The spread of the Escherichia coli bacteria can occur by direct contact (shaking hands, touching). Then passed on by mouth. Leunca leaves have chemical contents including alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tanins. The purpose of this study was to determine whether Leunca's leaf extract (Solanum nigrum) has antibacterial effects against the inhibitory power of Escherichia coli bacteria with a concentration of 50 mg/ml, 100 mg/ml, 150 mg/ml, 200 mg/ml, 250 mg/ml. The method of this study was the sample of Leunca leaf obtained from West Lumban Rau Village, Habinsaran Subdistrict, Toba Samosir Regency. Sample preparation was done by making thick extract with the maceration method. An anti-bacterial effectiveness test is done by the disk diffusion method. The results showed Leunca's leaf extract containing alkaloid compounds, flavonoids, saponins, tannins. As well as having antibacterial effectiveness against the inhibition of Escherichia coli bacteria. Average inhibition zone area concentration of 50 mg/ml = 6.1 mm, concentration of 100 mg/ml = 7.3, concentration of 150 mg/ml = 8.8 mm, concentration of 200 mg/ml = 10.8 mm, concentration of 250 mg/ml = 12.6 mm. Conclusion: Leunca (Solanum nigrum) Leaf Extract has antibacterial effects against the inhibitory power of Escherichia coli bacteria with a strong category.

Abstract

Garlic contains flavonoids, tannins, and saponins which act as antifungals. The purpose of this study was to formulate an ethanol extract of garlic (Allium sativum) ointment with various concentrations of 5%, 10%, 15% and to evaluate the ointment preparation with physical evaluation requirements. Testing the activity of the ointment preparation against the fungus Trichophyton mentagrophytes was carried out by the diffusion method. The results showed that garlic (Allium sativum) could be formulated as an antifungal ointment preparation and met the requirements of the ointment preparation evaluation test with the results of the organoleptic test of the white ointment base, the 5% formulation being pale yellow, the 10% formulation and 15% brownish yellow. The homogeneity test showed no lumps in the ointment preparation, the pH test was in accordance with the requirements, namely 4.5-6.5. The dispersion test was in accordance with the requirements, namely 5-7 cm, and the adhesive data test was in accordance with the requirements, which was more than 4 seconds. The results showed that garlic (Allium sativum) ethanol extract ointment could inhibit the fungus Trichophyton mentagrophytes where a concentration of 15% produced an inhibition zone of 10.4500 mm, and as a comparison, miconazole ointment produced an inhibition zone of 14.3833 mm.

Abstract

Daun Basil (Ocimum basilicum L.) termasuk dalam famili mint dan tersebar luas di negara-negara tropis, termasuk Indonesia. Hasil yang diperoleh mengenai senyawa yang ada dan aktivitas biologisnya yang terdokumentasi secara in silico, in vitro dan in vivo memberikan informasi yang berbeda. Efek farmakologisnya termasuk analgesik, obat penenang, anti-inflamasi, antioksidan, anti-penuaan, antibakteri, antijamur, dan efek antivirus.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui komposisi ekstrak daun basil kaya yodium yang efektif menurunkan tekanan darah pada lansia prahipertensi yang dilakukan di desa. Untuk menguji keefektifan dilakukan intervensi di desa Deli Tua Timur. Besar sampel survei dihitung dengan menggunakan rumus Lemeshow (1997), dan jumlah sampel minimal untuk survei ini adalah 80 responden. Hasil uji tekanan darah sistolik menggunakan uji Wilcoxon menunjukkan 80 responden mengalami penurunan tekanan darah sistolik setelah intervensi, 80 responden mengalami penurunan tekanan darah diastolik setelah intervensi, dan 80 responden mengalami penurunan tekanan darah diastolik. setelah intervensi menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada yang mengalami peningkatan tekanan darah sistolik maupun diastolic.Nilai sig. pada hasil analisis pada variable Tekanan darah sistolik dan diastolik adalah 0,00 0,05, sehingga dapat dihipotesiskan bahwa penggantian garam dapur (NaCl) dengan ekstrak daun basil terfortifikasi yodium (Ocimum Basilicum L.) dapat menurunkan tekanan darah pada lansia dengan Riwayat prehipertensi

Abstract

Rumput israel (Asystasia gangetica) atau sering disebut dengan tanaman Ara sungsang merupakan salah satu tanaman budidaya yang berpotensi sebagai antibakteri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak etanol rumput Israel dalam menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Escherichia coli dan untuk mengetahui perbedaan aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak etanol rumput Israel pada berbagai konsentrasi. Metode : Ekstraksi dilakukan dengan metode maserasi menggunakan etanol 70%. Pengujian aktivitas antibakteri dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode difusi cakram kertas. Aktivitas ini ditandai dengan terbentuknya zona bening pada area paper disc. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan 4 perlakuan konsentrasi yaitu 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%, dan kontrol negatif aquades dan kontrol positif amoksisilin. Hasil : Berdasarkan hasil uji one way ANOVA menunjukkan adanya pengaruh aktivitas antibakteri terhadap Escherichia coli dengan nilai signifikansi (p0,05) dengan nilai F = 53.393. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan penggunaan berbagai konsentrasi ekstrak rumput Israel dalam menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Escherichia coli. Penentuan diameter zona hambat sebelum perlakuan adalah 16mm dan sesudah perlakuan. Konsentrasi ekstrak lebih baik dalam menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Escherichia coli yaitu konsentrasi 100% dengan diameter 20,4 mm
