Abstract

This research is entitled “Representation of "Ghibah" in the TILIK Film (Short Movie 2018)". The purpose of this study was to find out how the representation of backbiting in the TILIK film (Short Movie 2018). The theory used in this research is Representation Theory. The object of this research is the film TILIK. This study uses a two-stage Roland Barthes semiotic analysis method in which researchers can better understand the meaning of denotation, the connotation obtained in the TILIK film, with visuals as a representation of the dialogue which is the marker in this study. The researcher explained the data analysis with visual as a signifier and audio as a marker then explained the meaning of denotation and connotation. The results of this study describe the social reality that often occurs and is carried out by the community, namely backbiting other people or "backbiting".

Abstract

As many cases of suicide are caused by depression, researchers are interested in researching what causes depression in a person. This study aims to determine how depression is represented in the short film “The Sign” by Nicky K through John Fiske's semiotic analysis. This film depicts how a child goes through his bad days without anyone caring about the inner pressure he receives. This research uses descriptive qualitative research. The author chose this study because of the lack of public attention related to depression cases around him. The author wants to know how depression is portrayed in this film, through behavior, traits that make it a depressive disorder. Researchers want readers to be more sensitive to cases like this. Therefore, the writer is interested in the title of this research. The results of this study indicate that there is a representation of depression in this short film which is seen from the three levels proposed by John Fiske. There are three levels, namely the level of reality, the level of representation and the level of ideology

Abstract

The title of this research is "Communication Analysis of Tamang Mandailing Natal Island Tourism Development". The purpose of this study was to find out how the communication of Tamang Island tourism development and how the supporting and inhibiting factors for the development of Tamang Mandailing Natal Island tourism were. The theory used is the Theory of Diffusion of Innovation in Development Communication as the main theory and the theory of Modernization of Development as a supporting theory. The object under study is Tamang Island tourism. This research approach is qualitative method where this qualitative research method is descriptive and tends to use analysis. The result of this research is that development communication on Tamang Island is still not optimal and is still in the failed category.

Abstract

This research wants to see and examine the meaning (moral message) shown through a film, through the signs in each scene (story scene). The sign in question can be in the form of scenarios, images, text, scenes and so on. These signs are studied using semiotic analysis to find out the hidden meaning of a sign. The film that is of concern to the writer is the film Little Mom. The film Little Mom is based on a 2018 health organization (WHO) journal about the lives of teenage girls who become pregnant out of wedlock. This film tells the story of teenage children by showing the twists and turns of teenage problems between love, dreams and also the future. This study aims to determine the form of the moral message in the film Little Mom and to understand the meaning of the moral message contained in the film Little Mom. This research is a descriptive qualitative research, where this research will analyze, record, describe and interpret the meanings, symbols contained in the film Little Mom related to the meaning of moral messages using the theory of semiotic analysis by Roland Barthes.
