Abstract

Synthetic plant hormone saled in many trade mark as Grow Quick (GQ) used for subtitute of cytokinin and auxin ill tissue culture medium of orchid. TIle aim of this study is to know and get concentration of GQ BAP and GQ NAA in MS medium for the most favor of orchid plantlet growth. Research was conducted in Randomized Block Design was replicated three times. Dendrobium 3 months age as Protocorm Like Bodies (plbs) treated in concentration combination of GQ BAP and GQ NAA in MS medium: MO = MS (control), M. = MS + GQ BAP'l ppm, M2 = MS+ GQ BAP 1 ppm + GQ NAA 1 ppm, M3 = MS + GQ BAP 1 ppm + GQ NAA 2 ppm, M4 = MS + GQ BAP 2 ppm + GQ NAA 2 ppm, M, = MS + GQ NAA 2 ppm. The best plantlet growth was showed MS + GQ BAP 1 ppm + GQ NAA 1 ppm on leaves number and root nlunber.GQ BAP and GQ NAA did not affect plantlet length and plantlet number. Abstract

This study aims to determine the appearance and correlation of the genotype and phenotype of inbred maize mutant lines (M1). Ten inbred maize mutant lines (M1) were grown in a randomized block design (RBD) which was repeated 3 times. The results obtained phenotypic differences of ten mutant lines of inbred maize (M1) for the characters of plant height, number of leaves, time of appearance of male flowers, female flowers, and seed weight. Genetic correlation perfectly correlated (+1) on the anthesis character with the cooking time of cobs and silking with the cooking time of cobs. Plant height was significantly correlated with leaf number and stover weight; whereas seed weight had a significant genotype correlation with leaf number, antesis and stover weight.

Abstract

Chili (Capsicum sp.) is a vegetable commodity that is widely grown throughout the world after tomatoes are a member of the Solanaceae family, which have very many types, ranging from not spicy to very spicy. Chili originates from South America and Central America, Peru and Mexico and then brought by the Portuguese to Europe and Asia then spread throughout the world. Chili contains many compounds that are good for health, vitamin C, vitamin A, vitamin E, folic acid, flavonoid, phenol, capsaicin which can be used to treat malnutrition in society and non-infectious diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, cancer. The content of the nutrition depends on the genotype, environmental conditions, and the fruit ripening phase at harvest. In Indonesia, there are many local varieties or landraces of chili that have adapted well to the local environment. Local varieties are good genetic resources for developing new superior varieties of chili that have the quantity, quality, and resistance to environmental stress.

Abstract

In vitro propagation of Cavendish banana is an alternative to produce healthy, uniform and sufficient plant materials of high qualities. Appropriate culture media formulation is needed for shoot growth and rooting stage. This experiment aimed to study effects of IAA and organic supplements on in vitro shoot growth and rooting. Explants were subjected to MS medium with IAA and various organic supplements, in a factorial arrangement of a completely randomized design. The first factor was IAA concentrations (0; 0.5; 1 and 1.5 mg.L-1), and the second factor was types of organic supplement (control, coconut water, potato extract and banana extract). At 8 weeks after planting, shoot growth and root performance of plantlets were recorded. The results showed that addition of IAA did not affect shoot height. Addition of potato extract and banana homogenate resulted in the highest plantlets. Medium with IAA at 1 mg.L-1 resulted in the highest number of roots. The highest number of shoots was produced on media with IAA 1 mg.L-1 + coconut water and IAA 1.5 mg.L-1 + potato extract. The highest number of roots was produced in medium with potato extract. The longest roots were produced in media with 0.5 mg.L-1 IAA + banana homogenate. Keywords: Banana extract, Cavendish, Coconut water, IAA, Potato extract

Abstract

The nitrogen reduction in soil is a problem in maize cultivation that can cause production decrease. The efforts to prevent this problem is to assemble superior maize that is low nitrogren resistance and high production by crossing different corn former plants. This research was to analyze the combining power of five strains (G1, G2, G3, G4 and G5) under normal and low nitrogen conditions used a half diallel cross design by Griffing I method formula to analyze 10 genotypes. The research design used a divided plot design (RPT) with 3 replications, the research location was in the experimental garden of Balai Pengkajian dan Teknologi Pertanian in Kebondalem village, Mojosari district, Mojokerto district and the application of nitrogen fertilizer. The value of the general combining ability (DGU) of the G3 elders significantly affected the weight parameters of the cobs under low nitrogen conditions. The results of the special combining ability (DGK) on the G7 and G8 crosses had high DGK values on harvest character and weight of 100 seeds under normal and low nitrogen conditions. The genotype G6 has a high DGK value for cob weight characters.

Abstract

Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is a staple food for Indonesian people to fulfill their daily needs. Rice planting is expected to be able to produce high value, but nowadays it is constrained by the increasing condition of the land. Hydroponic cultivation is the right solution because it can be done on a narrow area but the response of plants to the slope of the hydroponic land is not yet known. This study aims to determine the effect of the slope of the hydroponic installation on the growth and yield of hydroponic rice plants. The research was carried out from June to September 2022, at the experimental field of the Faculty of Agriculture, UPN "Veteran" East Java. The experiment used in this study was a Randomized Block Design with 3 replications and each replication had 10 samples. Treatment of the slope of the building consists of 0%, 3%, and 5%. Data were analyzed by the F test and continued with Duncan's multiple distance test with a level of 5%. The results showed that the installation slope of 0% gave the best results for plant and root length.

Abstract

Tanaman bayam merah memiliki kandungan gizi lebih yang baik dibandingkan dengan tanaman bayam hijau. Permintaan bayam merah di pasar perkotaan tergolong cukup tinggi. Produksi bayam merah secara indoor di perkotaan membutuhkan cahaya yang lebih dikarenakan intensitas cahaya yang kurang dalam bangunan perkotaan. Hal tersebut dapat diatasi dengan penambahan lampu LED karena memiliki spektrum cahaya yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan tanaman. Penelitian dilaksanakan untuk mengetahui daya lampu LED dan media tanam yang efektif untuk meningkatkan pertumbuhan dan hasil secara optimal tanaman bayam merah. Penelitian dilakukan bulan Oktober sampai Desember 2021 di Desa Bolorejo, Kauman, Kabupaten Tulungagung, Jawa Timur serta di Laboratorium Fakultas Pertanian UPN “Veteran” Jawa Timur. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan petak terbagi dua faktor, daya lampu LED dan media tanam dengan tiga kali ulangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat pengaruh nyata kombinasi perlakuan lampu led dengan media tanam hanya pada karakter berat basah dan kering, serta kadar klorofil bayam merah. Perlakuan daya lampu LED memiliki pengaruh nyata hanya pada tinggi tanaman dan jumlah daun. Tidak ada pengaruh nyata perlakuan media tanam pada semua karakter pengamatan. Lampu LED 6 watt dan media tanah kompos merupakan hasil terbaik pada berat basah dan kering bayam merah.

The results of the specific combining ability (DGK) on the G7 and G8 crosses had high SCA values on the yield character and weight of 100 seeds under normal conditions and nitrogen stress. Genotype G6 has a high SCA value for cob weight characters.

Abstract

Budidaya bawang Merah dengan Biji di Jawa Timur masih sangat langka yang melakukan penanaman dengan biji. UPN Veteran jatim dari hasil penelitian telah mampu menghasilkan TSS dari varietas lokal Nganjuk yaitu Bauji Salah satu Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah memberikan solusi yaitu kontribusi dari lembaga Perguruan Tinggi untuk mengajari masyarakat memulai menanam bawang merah dari biji agar dapat menyediakan kebutuhan benih sendiri secara mandiri.Yang menjadi lokasi pengabdian adalah Petani Trikoyo Desa Campur kecamatan Balong Glagah kabupaten Nganjuk. Tahapan kegiatan meliputi 1). Penyuluhan kepada kelompok tani tentang teknologi budidaya tanaman bawang merah dengan biji, diharapkan setelah mengikuti kegiatan memiliki pengetahuan tentang teknik budidaya bawang merah TSS. Dengan demikian petani memiliki gambaran dan bekal pengetahuan jika program pengembangan budidaya bawang merah TSS. 4). Teknik pengumpulan data untuk menggali persepsi terhadap teknologi budidaya bawang merah TSS dilakukan dengan cara wawancara menggunakan kuesioner yang sudah dipersiapkan oleh Tim. Varietas Bauji adalah merupakan varietas unggulan Jawa timur dan dapt di produksi biji TSS.Kegiatan Penerapan perluasan budidaya bawang merah dengan biji ini yang dilakukan dengan memberikan penyuluhan dengan cara ceramah dan diskusi dan diberi kesempatan untuk memebrikan tanggapan atau persepsi petani terhadap biji TSS, serta kegiatan di lahan budidaya bawang merah dengan memberikan aplikasi tehnik budidaya di lapang menunjukkan bahwa 50 % kegiatan ini masih belum banyak petani yang mengadopsi, hal ini dikarenakan teknologi budidaya biji TSS i masih baru bagi petani.

Abstract

Tanaman padi varietas lokal merupakan varietas dari tanaman padi yang telah ada dan dibudidayakan secara turun-temurun oleh petani serta menjadi milik masyarakat dan dikuasai negara. Salah satu teknologi pada budidaya padi yang masih jarang digunakan di Indonesia adalah sistem pot/polybag. Kandungan unsur hara sebagai nutrisi bagi tanaman padi lokal pada sistem polybag tidak hanya dicukupi dengan media tanam saja, namun juga diperlukan pupuk organik cair. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui konsentrasi pupuk organik cair yang tepat untuk pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman padi lokal yang ditanam dengan sistem polybag. Penelitian ini menggunakan padi lokal varietas Rojolele yang ditanam dengan menggunakan polybag ukuran 40 x 40 cm. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Stasiun Klimatologi Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jawa Timur, sejak bulan November 2021 sampai Februari 2022. Penelitian ini merupakan percobaan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) non faktorial, yaitu perlakuan macam konsentrasi pupuk organik cair, meliputi; (1) 9 mL.L-1; (2) 12 mL.L-1; dan (3) 15 mL.L-1. Setiap perlakuan memiliki tiga tanaman sampel dan diulang tiga kali. Variabel pengamatan meliputi fase vegetatif, fase generatif dan komponen hasil dari budidaya padi lokal. Pengaplikasian konsentrasi pupuk organik cair 15 mL.L-1 mampu memberikan nilai rata-rata tertinggi pada parameter panjang malai (27,39 cm) dan jumlah malai per rumpun (11,00 helai) tanaman padi lokal. Pengaplikasian konsentrasi pupuk organik cair 12 mL.L-1 mampu memberikan nilai rata-rata terbaik pada parameter berbunga (69,78 HST) dan umur panen (96,00 HST) tanaman padi lokal.
