Abstract

Lasianthus, a member of the family Rubiaceae has potential for medicinal plants. The aims of the research were to find out the potential antibacterial activity of Lasianthus leaf extract and to investigate the effectiveness of plant propagation by stems cutting. The species tested were Lasianthus laevigatus Blume, L furcatus (Miq.) Bremek and L. cf. obscurus Blume. The extracted leaves in n-hexana, ethyl acetate and methanol were tested in vitro against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coil activities that grown on medium of Mueller-Hinton agar. The methanol extracts of each plant material showed significant antibacterial activities on S. aureus and E. coll. Antibacterial activity increased with increasing concentration of the extracts. Plant propagation by stems cutting were done as a first step of conservation effort for respective species. Stems cutting of L. laevigatus, L. purpureus, L. furcatus, L. acuminatus, L rhinocerotis. and L. cf. obscurus with length of 10 cm were applied with Rotoon F to stimulate root growth. The result of plant propagation research showed that only the stems cutting of L. cf. obscurus grew well although roots did not grow until 4 months.

Abstract

ABSTRAKCagar Alam Telaga Ranjeng (CATR) di Kabupaten Brebes, Jawa Tengah terletak di lereng Gunung Slamet dan dikelilingi oleh pemukiman dan Perkebunan Teh Kaligua. Cagar Alam ini mempunyai telaga sebagai penangkap air dan keanekaragaman jenis flora yang mempunyai peranan dalam melestarikan fungsi telaga tersebut. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan informasi berbagai tumbuhan termasuk semak, anggrek, dan pohon di dataran tinggi tropis di wilayah CATR. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan membuat plot-plot pengamatan vegetasi. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis secara deskriptif-kuantitatif menggunakan Indeks Nilai Penting (INP). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Brucea javanica (L.) Merr. merupakan jenis dominan (INP = 27,50 %) pada tingkat pohon berdiameter < 50 cm. Pinanga coronata Blume merupakan jenis dominan pada tingkat pancang (92,99 %), disusul Antidesma tetrandrum (24,73 %) dan Cyathea latebrosa (Wallich ex W. J. Hooker) Copeland (14,73). A. tetrandrum juga merupakan jenis dominan kedua pada tingkat pohon. Tingkat semai didominasi oleh Cyrtandra sp.. Keanekaragaman jenis tumbuhan pada tingkat pancang dapat menjamin kelestarian hutan CATR di masa mendatang, termasuk dalam konservasi flora dan fauna pada ekosistem hutan Gunung Slamet.

Abstract

Pulau Waigeo merupakan salah satu pulau besar di Raja Ampat Provinsi Papua Baratyang kaya akan tumbuhan endemik pada dataran rendah tanah kapur (karst). Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menginventarisasi jenis-jenis tumbuhan yang unik dan endemik yang perlu dilindungi. Lokasi penelitian meliputi kawasan hutan primer di sepanjang Sungai Warambiae, Hutan Adat Distrik Teluk Mayalibit dan Wilayah Gunung Danai. Tumbuhan di Pulau Waigeo sangat tinggi keanekaragamannya dikarenakan tingginya jenis-jenis tumbuhan endemik, seperti: Pule Waigeo (Alstonia beatricis), Guioa waigeonensis, Calophyllum parvifolium, Nepenthes danseri, Schefflera apiculata, Hernandia origera, sapu tangan (Maniltoa rosea) dan lain-lain. Jenis-jenis anggrek, palma dan keluarga keladi termasuk tinggi keanekaragamannya. Kawasan hutan yang masih begitu luas terutama hutan primer yang ada di wilayah sepanjang aliran Sungai Warambiae dari hulu di Gunung Danai hingga bermuara di Teluk Mayalibit perlu dilindungi karena wilayahnya belum masuk dalam wilayah cagar alam.Kata kunci : Inventarisasi, Kabupaten Raja Ampat, Pulau Waigeo, Tumbuhan EndemikABSTRACTWaigeo Island is one of the big islands in the Province of West Papua which is rich with endemic plants within lowland soil limestone (karst). The purpose of this research is to inventory the species of plants that are unique and endemic so that need to be protected. Location of research covering the area of primary forest along the Warambiae River, the indigenous forests of the Mayalibit Gulf District, Regions of Mt. Danai. Waigeo Island is high diversity and high of plants endemic, such as: Pule Waigeo (Alstonia beatricis), Guioa waigeonensis, Calophyllum parvifolium, Nepenthes danseri, Scefflera apiculata, Hernandia origera, handkerchief tree (Maniltoa rosea) etc. Species of orchids, palma and also included to the high diversities family. The forest is still primary forest in the region along the Warambiae River into the Mayalibit Gulf. Abstract

Skizofrenia merupakan gangguan kejiwaan dan kondisi medis yang mempengaruhi fungsi otak manusia, mempengaruhi fungsi normal kognitif, mempengaruhi emosional dan tingkah laku. Peneltian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui faktor risiko kejadian skizofrenia di Rumah Sakit Madani Palu.Desain dalam penelitian ini adalah Survey analitik dengan pendekatan Case Control Study. Adapun jumlah sampel yaitu 90 responden. Analisa yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah analisis Univariat dan uji Odds Ratio (OR). Hasil uji statistik dengan uji Odds Ratio menunjukan bahwa jenis kelamin bukan merupakan faktor risiko terhadap kejadian skizofrenia dengan nilai OR 1,000 = 1, pendidikan merupakan faktor risiko terhadap kejadian skizofrenia dengan nilai OR 1,199 >1, pekerjaan merupakan faktor risiko terhadap kejadian skizofrenia dengan nilai OR 1, 120 >1, dan riwayat keturunan merupakan faktor risiko terhadap kejadian skizofrenia dengan nilai OR 1,262 >1. Saran penelitian ini bagi rumah sakit diharapkan meningkatkan promosi kesehatan berupa promosi kesehatan mental, psiko edukatif baik untuk penderita skizofrenia, keluarga maupun masyarakat. Hal ini dapat menambah pengetahuan dan dapat meminimalisir kekambuhan serta stigma negatif masyarakat kepada penderita skizofrenia.

Abstract

This paper presents the study of the use of waste plastic bags as a mixture of fine aggregate in concrete production 1 pc: 2 Psr: 3 Split, variations in the mix of plastic is added the mortar 0, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 4, and 5 %. Any variation tested mixture compressive strength and tensile strength. With this method can further determined that the most optimum addition of plastic to be used as concrete mix. From the test results showed that the addition of plastics 5% increases the tensile strength of concrete approximately 50% compared with no addition of plastic, in contrast with the addition of the same plastic reduces the compressive strength of 47 %. From these results it can be stated that the addition of plastics will increase its tensile strength so that the inner structure of the fiber tensile cracks will not occur, with the addition of waste plastic bags reduces the density of concrete, so the construction is lighter.

Abstract

The flowering phenology and floral behavior of Scutellaria discolor and S. slametensis were investigated. S. discolor is distributed over a wider range of habitats but S. slametensis is distributed over a restricted area on Mt. Slamet. Observations of flowering phenology and floral behavior were almost the same and pollination of cleistogamous flowers did not occur in both species.Based on our observations on floral and pollinator behavior, we consider both S. discolor and S.slametensis to have chasmo- and cleistogamous flowers.

Abstract

Botanical garden is one of ex-situ conservation which has function as germ plasm conservation, education/research, and recreation. To conserve plants biodiversity, many local governments in Indonesia propose to cooperate with LIPI to build botanical gardens. Sambas botanical garden with an area ± 300 ha in West Kalimantan is one of a botanical garden which is under construction. As new exploration site, many biodiversity in this area has not been entirely explored yet including its medicinal plants. Methods used in this study including field survey and interview techniques. The objective of this study is to explore a biodiversity of medicinal plants in that area. This study identified 30 medicinal plants, representing 20 families and 25 genera. It indicated that Sambas botanical garden has many highly potential values of medicinal plants. Therefore, a proper management including medicinal plant for this area is strongly required.Â
