Abstract

 Abstract: Learning Reading for junior high schools can use a variety of media. Among them is by using the Flashcard Mini Series. This is a media or tool that contains images and writing to facilitate students in reading lessons. Inside the flashcard are words to remind students of what they have just read. This flashcard can also be used to warm up for students before reading or discussing a reading. This study aims to discuss one way to solve students’ problem in comprehending a text. The process of using miniseries flash cards is students are grouped into approximately 5 people. Then, the teacher gave a miniseries flashcards to each group. The teacher gives a text containing the contents of the miniseries flashcards. After that, students are given a new text and miniseries flashcards containing new material. Each group is given a different text. After completing the answer, the text and flashcard miniseries are given to other groups; they also do the same. The miniseries flashcards are answered in turn by each group. Miniseries flashcards as learning media are able to provide an understanding of reading where the media is able to represent the contents of the reading so that students understand the text easily. Keywords: Reading Comprehension, Miniseries Flashcards

Abstract

Abstract: The point of the examination is to discover answers to the topic of why some Indonesians choose to keep learning at the postgraduate level in the wake of finishing their master’s program. At the core of the examination is the investigation of the intentions or reasons which Indonesian, qualified people that could take up the other business then to become doctoral understudies. Motivation for accomplishing something is ordinarily alluded to as a lot of inside and outside variables that impact the choices or practices. In this venture, we did an overview of the thought processes to turn into a doctoral understudy through the recollections of PhD graduates. A subjective examination focused on the portrayal of 250 doctoral alumni who are presently functioning as teachers at Indonesian. Abstract

Abstract—This research was conducted to investigate the significant differences of SMCP Application through  English for Maritime ability students. By conducting quasi experimental research, the write tries to know whether SMCP Application is effective in helping maritime students in learning English for maritime. This research was quasi experimental research. The sample was taken by purposive sampling. There were 27 students from Nautical Study program and 26 students from Port and Management study program. The data of this research were the results of students’ English test. After conducting pre-test and post-test, the average of gained score was 17.66. The students who taught by SMCP Application have higher score in post-test than pre-test. Since t-observed = 8.33 was higher than t-table = 1.645, it means that Ha was accepted. The result of this research was students who are taught by SMCP have better English ability than those who are taught by conventional teaching. In conclusion, SMCP can be used as a teaching technique in teaching English for Maritime.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze and describe the types of English loanword in Teluk Buntal Malay sub-dialect. This was classified into descriptive research. The source of data was taken from the recorded dialogue which was interpreted into written data. The result of the study showed that there were 8 English loanwords that commonly used in daily conversation by the Malay people of Teluk Buntal. The type of English loanword discovered in this study encompassing loanword, loan blends and loan shift. Hence, all of the words found to be the most dominant type were loanwords and based on structure of English loanwords type, it was categorized into simple word in term of spelling and meaning.

Abstract

Dictoglos can be used as a strategy in writing, it is expected that student can improve their writing. The aim of this study was to analyze the use of “Dictoglos” to enlarge senior high school students’ ability in writing. This study was literature study research. The methods of collecting the primary data were documentation and observation. Meanwhile, journals, documentation books, and internet were taken for the secondary data. This study was analyzed using descriptive analysis method. Based on the data analyzed, it can be concluded that Dictoglos is an interesting and exciting strategy that can be applied in teaching writing. This strategy assists the students to reproduce and construct the component of the text. There are six steps in teaching a dictoglos; 1) Selecting a content-related to the text and read it aloud at a normal speaking. 2) Rereading the text twice more. 3) Having the students work in pairs to re-create as much of the text as possible using the note taken by each of the partners to write the text as closely as possible to the original text as read to the teacher. 4) Having two pairs to meet together and pool their re-create of the text to reconstruct it more completely. 5) Having the group of four works together to write down as much of the text as possible. 6) Asking one of each group to read the groups re-creation of the text and ask the other groups to see how closely it matches their version.
