Abstract

Numbers of TB in Indonesia are increasing by years. One of the causes of TB control challenges is the lack of community awareness of TB disease. The Madurese are very culturally and very obedient to the kiai (religious leaders) as well as the level of TB disease in areas where they are still high. This study aimed to explore the community's self-efficacy towards TB prevention through a cultural approach. Method: This study is a quasi experimental study with two control and treatment groups (pre-post design). The sample of this study were 100 respondents (50 controls groups and 50 treatment groups) which selected by simple random sampling based on the inclusion criteria. Data then analyzed by using paired t test dan independent t test. Result: there was significant effect of P value = 0.000 in treatment group, there was self efficacy improvement after the delivery of intervention with culture approach. Discussion: Interventions for TB prevention require innovation with cultural approaches adopted by the community (such as working with kiai, people who are considered to have charisma for certain community groups) to make it easier to implement TB prevention. Keywords : Tuberculosis, culture, efficacy

Abstract

Background: The incidence of Multiple Drugs Resistance Tuberculosis (TB MDR) is still very high. TB MDR treatments requires a long period care that could lead to an impact on TB MDR patients and their families. This study aims to explore the perceived burden of TB MDR patients and their families. Method: Review literature was conducted through a search of four journal databases which later found 8 articles according to the inclusion criteria which were then identified, evaluated and synthesized. Results: The literature review found four major themes related to the perceived burden by TB MDR patients and their family, namely; physical, psychological, social and financial burden. Discussion: various problems arise due to the illness suffered by MDR TB patients and families. Understanding the difficulties and burdens experienced by MDR TB patients and their families is important in order to be able to intervene according to the problems that might arise due to MDR TB disease. Conclusion: The government needs to provide social protection to patients with MDR TB and families. Health professional workers need to add physical and psychological interventions to relieve the burden felt by MDR TB patients and their families. Abstract

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) transmission awareness is crucial for TB prevention in the community. However, efforts to prevent TB transmission from TB patients’ perspectives, especially in the rural area, are not well documented. This study aimed to explore the efforts made by TB patients in preventing transmission to the community. This research was qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. Participants in this study were 12 people selected by purposive sampling. Data collection was done by in-depth interviews and recorded. Data analysis was carried out by thematic analysis. This study produced seven themes: perception of TB disease, performing alternative treatments, using personal protective equipment, environmental modification, adhering to treatment, limiting interactions with others, and increasing food intake. Knowledge and awareness of TB patients are still an issue in preventing the transmission of TB in the community. Immediate intervention needs to be made regarding increasing knowledge and awareness of TB patients and the supervision of health workers regularly in handling TB disease in the community.

Abstract

Asthma is characterized by narrowing and inflammation of the bronchi, with symptoms of dyspnea, fatigue, and limited activity. This study aims to explain the effect of respiratory inspiratory muscle training on changes in respiratory function based on the results of previous studies. This study was compiled based on a literature review that came from the databases: PubMed, springer link, and google scholar which were selected based on the inclusion criteria that have been set. From 272 articles found, only 6 articles deserve to be reviewed. The results of the review stated that respiratory inspiratory muscle exercise had an effect on changes in respiratory function in asthmatic patients with a very significant significance value. Changes provided by inspiratory muscle training are related to respiratory muscle strengthening which reduces respiratory stimulus and ventilation requirements for a given workload, contributing to more efficient breathing patterns and decreased perception of dyspnea. Inspiratory respiratory muscle exercise, either done alone or in combination with other respiratory rehabilitation programs, can increase the strength of the respiratory muscles so as to have an improved impact on the respiratory function of children with asthma from children to adults.

Abstract

Immunization is a form of health intervention that is very effective in reducing infant and under-five mortality. However, until now the implementation has not reached the maximum target, there are still many people who do not allow their children to be immunized for various reasons. Ignorance of the community or parents about the importance of immunization is one of the main causes, therefore the role of posyandu cadres is needed. One of the roles of posyandu cadres is to provide health education to the community or parents about immunization, so that capacity building activities for cadres are very necessary to increase the knowledge of posyandu cadres. The purpose of this study was to analyze the knowledge and abilities of cadres in an effort to increase the coverage and quality of immunization in Ranupakis Village, Klakah District. The research method was carried out in stages starting from FGD (Focus Group Discussion) activities, pre-test activities to determine the level of knowledge of cadres, health education activities about immunization, and post-test activities. The results of the activity showed that there was a significant influence on the knowledge and abilities of cadres regarding imusization. The conclusion of this study proves that the increased knowledge and ability of cadres has an effect on their role in the coverage and quality of immunization. Keywords: immunization coverage; the role of cadres
