Abstract

Wilayah Cilandak merupakan wilayah yang strategis, konsekuensi yang ditimbulkan dari hal tersebut, akan memunculkan volume dan jenis sampah yang dihasilkan. Hal ini merupakan  satu  permasalahan  yang  dialami  di daerah Cilandak. Oleh karenanya, melalui kegiatan ini tim kami bersama mitra telah melakukan pengumpulan dan pengelolaan sampah lebih lanjut sebagai bentuk kepedulian terhadap lingkungan. Solusi yang telah tim kami bersama mitra lakukan untuk mengatasi persoalan yang ada. Satu, mulai dari lingkungan rumah. Hal paling sederhana yang bisa dilakukan adalah mengajak serta masyarakat untuk selalu menjaga kebersihan lingkungan dengan menjaga kebersihan rumah dan halaman. Dua, hal penting lainnya yaitu selalu rutin membiasakan gotong royong sesama warga untuk membersihkan lingkungan sekitar. Tiga, memisahkan jenis sampah. Menggunakan jenis tong sampah yang berbeda untuk sampah organik dan non organik adalah hal yang baik. Metode yang digunakan yakni menerapkan langkah-langkah dalam melaksanakan solusi yang telah tim lakukan bersama mitra untuk mengatasi permasalahn mitra. Hasil dari kegiatan ini yaitu berupa aksi sosial yang dilakukan untuk membersihkan lingkungan wilayah Cilandak untuk mengurangi penumpukan sampah Kegiatan tersebut berlangsung untuk mengatasi persoalan sampah dan menghasilkan wilayah Cilandak yang bersih dan pengelolaan sampah teratasi dengan baik.

Abstract

Permasalahan Lingkungan di Lokasi Mitra yaitu di wilayah Ciputat Timur terdapat beberapa masalah, yaitu (1) Kurangnya kesadaran pihak penghasil sampah, (2) Kurang pemahaman mengenai dampak negatif pembuangan sampah yang tidak diolah (seperti hanya menyampurkan semua sampah menjadi 1 plastik) dan (3) Kurangnya tempat pembuangan yang mengedukasi 3R di lingkungan rumah, sarana umum dan tempat umum lainnya. Untuk mengatasi persoalan tersebut maka diperlukan adanya kerja sama antara pihak daerah setempat yg digerakkan untuk menyediakan tempat seperti bank sampah (sebagai feedback dari pengolahan sampah ke industri ibu rumah tangga). Solusi yang ditawarkan adalah dengan memberikan sosialisasi Reduce, Reuse dan Recycle berbasis masyarakat secara daring karena pelaksanaannya pada saat pandemic. Metode pelaksanaannya yaitu menggunakan langkah reduce, Reuse dan Recycle. Kegiatan sosialisasi 3R tersebut  dilaksanakan  di Jl. H. Juanda, Ciputat Timur, Tangerang Selatan Provinsi  Banten. Dalam kegiatan tersebut memberikan arahan dan pengetahuan   dengan   mensosialisasikan kegiatan. Hasil yang diperoleh yaitu dapat memberikan edukasi tentang pengelolaan sampah sekaligus mengajarkan kepada warga cara mendaur ulang sampah menjadi barang yang bermanfaat.

Abstract

This study aims to look into different the types of code-switching that the teacher employs when teaching English at Al-Hidayah Boarding School and the function of the teacher's code-switching on English learning at Al-Hidayah Boarding School. This writer has conducted this study through a qualitative method with a case study design. An English teacher is a subject in this study. The writer has collected the data using observation and interview instruments. The results of the data analysis showed that the use of code-switching by the teacher in English teaching at Al-Hidayah Boarding School occurred in a total of 199 cases; (1) intra-sentential code-switching occurred 88 times, (2) inter-sentential code-switching 76 times, and (3) tag code-switching occurred 35 times. The function of code-switching used by the teacher found three functions; Topic switch, affective function, and repetitive function. The teacher used code-switching mostly to assist him in conveying material with repetitive functions to avoid misunderstandings.

Abstract

The previous research identified students’ listening and using the media is a way to enhance it, one of the media is the VOA Learning English website. The objective of the study is to find out and explain VOA learning English website as media can build English student listening skills. This study used quantitative research in this investigation. Moreover, this study used a pre-experimental design employed in the investigation. Based on quantitative research techniques, the writer was given the correlation between independent factors and population-dependent variables in this study. Pre-experimental design. The research was conducted at SMA PGRI 117 Tangerang. The pre-test and post-test scores revealed significant (2-tailed) findings of 0.077 a (0.05), where the significance score was higher than 0.05, based on the calculation table data normality. It indicates that the pre-test and post-test data are both normal. As a result, the data used in this study are normal, allowing for a smooth transition to the subsequent statistical test. Based on the statistical calculation, there is a positive influence between teaching listening skills by VOA Learning English website and without VOA Learning English website. The result shows that the value of the tscore (15.412) is higher than the ttable (1.714) at the significance degree of 5%. Thus that the Hypothesis (H1) is rejected and the Alternative Hypothesis (H0) is accepted. Hence, VOA Learning English website can build English students’ listening skills of class tenth-grade students of SMA PGRI 117 Tangerang.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop learning media in the form of a Word Square-based exercise module on the topic of writing descriptive text. This research is a research and development method using a development model, namely ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation). The subjects in this study were students of class X MIPA 1 SMAN 9 Tangerang. The data analysis used in this research is descriptive quantitative with percentage results. The results of the study obtained an assessment, among others; 1) material expert validation with 4 assessment aspects obtained an average percentage score of 83.09% with high and very valid criteria, 2) media expert validation with 3 assessment aspects obtained an average percentage score of 89.38% with very valid criteria, 3) validation of linguists with 3 aspects of assessment obtained an average percentage score of 84.16% with very valid criteria. The assessment of student responses on the small class test got an average score of 84.99% with high criteria and on the large class test an average percentage score of 84.33% with high criteria. Based on the results of the assessment, it can be stated that the learning media in the form of a Word Square-based exercise module that was developed is valid or suitable for use in learning to write descriptive text.

Abstract

Based on the 2013 curriculum, this study analyzes an English textbook for senior high school students in the XI grade entitled "Bahasa Inggris." The assessment used a BSNP rubric, which is in accordance with the 2013 curriculum's core and basic competencies. An explanation-heavy descriptive qualitative methodology is used in this investigation. Using the BSNP assessment criteria, the researcher modified the textbook material to match the core competencies and basic competencies of the 2013 curriculum. Data were obtained by the researcher using document analysis. Secondly, because the researcher focused on the subject in the first semester, only four chapters were analyzed. According to the study's findings, 53% of the content is proof of concept. This indicates that the content used for the XI grade in the "Bahasa Inggris" textbook during the first semester is still acceptable.

Abstract

Abstract. This research aimed to analyze about a story entitled pacman by viastro on tumblr social media, which tried to find out the kinds of language style are mostly used in pacman story on tumblr. This research focused on Martin Joos theory which discussed about language style. There are frozen style, formal style, consultative style, casual style, and intimate style. This study was conducted using a descriptive qualitative method in which the data was collected by reading the whole story then finding out the conversation that contains language style. Later on, the researcher classified them based on the types of language style that were found on the conversation, then finding the dominant type of language style. After conducting the analysis, this study showed that there were three types of language style from five types of language style according Martin Joos. They were consultative, casual, and intimate style. Casual was found as the most dominant types of language style in the story with 10 data, intimate with 6 data, and consultative 2 data. Finally, the reseacher hopes that this study will be useful for the future improvement of studying literature, especially about language style.

Abstract

The use of mother tongue in English class has advantages and disadvantages. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the function of the use of Sundanese language in learning English, as well as the views of students regarding the use of Sundanese language in English classes at MA Miftahussa'adah in grade 11 science and social studies. The methodology used in this study is a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data collection techniques in this study through observation, and interviews. The results showed: 1) The function of the use of the Sundanese mother tongue in learning English is as an introduction, explanation, expressing feelings or emotions and providing motivation, 2) Students have positive perception of the use of Sundanese in learning English. This study provides us with information about the use of mother tongue in the classroom. From the students we can see that the use of the mother tongue should not be completely eliminated but can only be minimized, this is to maintain the comfort of students in learning English. And so that students better understand well and easily the material taught by the teacher.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the students’ errors in using punctuation marks at Cakung East Jakarta. this research approach was descriptive quantitative method. In collecting the data, the researcher asked the students to rewrite the sentence with the right punctuation. The total population teenagers at Cakung and samples was 20 teenagers as the respondents. For the exam, The researcher discovers that the test's average score is 52.5, with 100 being the highest and 80 being the lowest possible scores. For the questioonnaire, the researcher finds the result of the questionnaire for the first statement always use a period to end statement sentence is 70% participant choose always, second statement use period in every sentence statement is 40% choose always, third statement use comma before writing a direct sentence is 35% choose sometimes, fourth statement use a comma in the middle of sentence is 40% choose often, fifth statement use quotation is 45% choose always, sixth statement exclamation point is 50% choose always, and the last use exclamation when showing a surprised expression is 45% choose always. The reason why they made erorr is because they did not know the limitation and the role of the structure and context.
