Abstract

Avocado peel is contains chemical compound of alkaloid as antioxidant. So, has been research is to determine the antioxidant activity of ethanol extract avocado peel (Persea americana Mill.) inhibition of DPPH radical (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl). The extraction method used maceration with 96% ethanol solvent. The ethanol extract avocado peel with variant concentrations are 50 ppm, 75 ppm, 100 ppm, 125 ppm, 150 ppm and ascorbic acid standard as a positive control with variant concentrations are 2 ppm, 4 ppm, 6 ppm, 8 ppm, 10 ppm. Antioxidant activity inhibit DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) radical reduction was measured using Uv-Vis spectrophotometry. The results of antioxidant activity was obtained at IC50 (inhibition concentration) from the ethanol extract avocado is 137.34 ppm and ascorbic acid is 13.18 ppm. The results of ethanol extract avocado peel has moderate antioxidant activity.

Abstract

This study aim to determine the effect of use lactic acid and sucrose with assistance of Microwave Assisted Extraction (MAE) on Total Polyphenols from Herbs Suruhan (Peperomia pellucida (L.) Kunth). The dried sample of Herbs Suruhan was extracted using (green solvent) lactic acid-sucrose with a ratio of 1:1 g/g, 2:1 g/g and 3:1 g/g and the extraction conditions microwave strength was 50% for 10 minutes at a ratio sample and solvent 1:10 g/ml. Then the extract solution obtained to determine the total polyphenol level using the Folin Ciocalteu reagent and it absorbance was measured using a UV-VIS spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 791 nm. Based on the result of the study, obtained levels of polyphenols from each solvent condition used on the sample were 573,443 mg GAE/g (2:1), 472,479 mg GAE/g (1:1) and 420,14 mg GAE/g (3:1). It can be concluded that the lactic acid-sucrose method with microwave assisted extraction can be used to extract polyphenol compounds from Herbs Suruhan.

Abstract

Thrush is an oral disease caused by bacterial and fungal infections. Treatment for this disease can be done by administering drugs that contain antimicrobial compounds. This study aims to test the ethanol extract of young areca nut against bacteria and fungi that cause Oral thrush. Young betel nut extract is obtained through maceration process using 96% ethanol. Then the activity of the Streptococcus sanguis bacteria and Candida albican fungus was tested. This test used the well method which was carried out on 5 variations of the concentration of young areca nut extract (2.5%; 5%; 7.5%; 10% and 15%) with one negative control (Na CMC). The results of the antimicrobial activity of young areca nut extract showed that young areca nut extract can inhibit Streptococcus sanguis bacteria with inhibition value are (9,961; 11,319; 13,390; 14,184; 14,704 mm) and Candida albican fungus are (7,482; 10,923; 14,695; 15,742; 17,325 mm) on 5 variations of the concentration.

Abstract

Dismenore pada remaja adalah hal yang wajar untuk dirasakan ketika siklus menstruasi datang. Asam mefenamat merupakan terapi farmakologis yang sering digunakan oleh perempuan dismenore untuk mengurangi ketidaknyamanan nyeri haid dengan menginhibisi enzim siklooksigenase (COX-2) yang dapat mencegah pembentukan asam arakidonat serta prostaglandin yang akan menstimulasi kontraksi atau nyeri saat haid. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui seberapa besar efektivitas asam mefenamat terhadap penanganan dismenore dengan penilaian skala NRS. Metode penelitian dengan quasi experimental terdiri dari 2 kelompok uji-kontrol dengan penilaian nyeri pretest-postest berdasarkan skala NRS. Abstract

lip balm is a preparation used on the lips as a moisturizer and lip protector. there have been many innovations lip balm with moisturizers and dyes natural ingredients. In general, the lip balms on the market use chemicals that can cause irritation. Therefore, almond oil is used which is a natural oil as an emollient and the kesumba keling Plant is a natural dye derived from the extraction of the kesumba keling seeds. The method used was experimental research, namely the formulation of lip balm with various concentrations of almond oil. 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% and stability testing of preparations covering organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, dispersibility, which was carried out for 28 days, in addition to that, the melting point test was carried out. The results obtained in the organoleptic test were reddish orange in color, a distinctive odor of lip balm, with a semi-solid consistency. Result of Homogeneity test is the absence of coarse grains (homogeneous). The result of pH test is pH of the lip balm preparation stable at pH 5. The result of spreadability test is a diameter range of 2.5 - 4 cm. And the result of melting point test is a range of 54 - 580C. Based on the evaluation results, the lip balm has better physical quality and is stable in the 20% almond oil lip balm formulation.

Abstract

Gel peel-off masks have many advantages, namely that besides being easy to apply, this masks can also produce good release and penetration of active substances. Black betle (Piper betle L. var. Nigra) is a type of plant that has been studied to have good antibacterial activity against several types of bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus. The aim of this study was to determine the best formulation for the gel mask and to determine the stability of the preparation of the gel peel-off mask after addition of black betel leaf extract (Piper betle L. var. Nigra). The optimization of the gel-base was carried out by formulating a gel peel- off mask preparation using carbopol in 4 different concentrations, namely F1 0.5%, F2 1%, F3 1.5% and F4 2%, then carried out a physical evaluation of the preparation including organoleptic tests, homogeneity, pH, dispersibility, adhesion, viscosity and drying time. After getting the best gel-base formula, black betle leaf extract was added, and the preparation was again performed for physical evaluation. The result of the optimization of the base gel peel-off mask obtained a base with the characteristics of a transparent white gel, homogeneous, characteristic aroma, thick, pH 5.37, adhesion 18 seconds ? 1 minute, spreading 4,5-7 cm cm, time drying time 14-19 minutes and viscosity of 3,987-26,164 Pa.s. The average results of the physical stability test of the preparation of the gel peel-off mask after the addition of black betle leaf extract were dark green, homogeneous, distinctive rose aroma, thick form, pH 5.6, adhesion 19 seconds, spread 6.4 cm, drying time 17 minutes, viscosity 3.251 Pa.s and absence of syneresis.

Abstract

Gel is a semi-solid preparation that is clear, translucent and contains active ingredients. Acne is a skin disorder caused by the Propionibacterium acnes bacteria. Black betel (Piper betle L. var Nigra) contains alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, steroids, triterpenoids, and polyphenolates which function as antibacterial. So that it can be formulated as an active substance in anti-acne gel preparations. The purpose of this study was to obtain a gel base with good physical stability and to evaluate the gel preparations mixed with black betel leaf extract (Piper betle L. var Nigra). Base optimization is done with 4 formulas with variations of Carbopol and TEA, namely B1, B2, B3, and B4. After getting the best gel base, then 3 formulas were made with various concentrations of black betel leaf extract (Piper betle L. var Nigra), namely F1 5%, F2 10%, and F3 15%. Then performed the physical stability test of the anti-acne gel preparation including organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, dispersion, adhesion, syneresis and viscosity for 16 days. The results obtained in the base optimization are clear, smell typical of bases, thick, homogeneous, pH range 6.1-6.8, spreadability 5.8-6.9 cm, adhesion 8-21 seconds, and viscosity 2.75. -5.81 Pa.s. The results obtained on the anti-acne gel are dark green, unique extract odor, thick, homogeneous, no syneresis, pH range 5.6-6.1, spreadability 6.0-6.9 cm, adhesion 14-21. seconds, and a viscosity of 2.12-6.81 Pa.s. The results showed that the gel base formula B4 was in accordance with the standard physical stability parameters. The addition of black betel leaf extract (Piper betle L. var Nigra) to the gel base affected the physical stability of the anti-acne gel preparation, but it was still included in the standard parameters of a good gel.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian yang berjudul Aktivitas Antioksidan Ekstrak Daun Sumpit (Brucea javanica (L.) Merr.) dengan metode DPPH. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan, nilai IC50, ekstrak yang memiliki aktivitas terbaik sebagai antioksidan, serta mengetahui potensi antioksidan daun sumpit (Brucea javanica (L.) Merr.) dibandingkan dengan kontrol positif vitamin C. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode peredaman radikal bebas DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) yang diujikan pada ekstrak kasar metanol, ekstrak fraksi n-heksana, ekstrak fraksi etil asetat, dan ekstrak fraksi n-butanol daun sumpit (Brucea javanica (L.) Merr.). Nilai IC50 untuk masing-masing sampel antara lain 152 ppm pada ekstrak kasar, 227 ppm pada ekstrak fraksi n-heksana, 91,12 ppm pada ekstrak fraksi etil asetat, dan 154,54 ppm pada ekstrak fraksi n-butanol. Dari pengujian aktivitas antioksidan diketahui bahwa ekstrak yang memberikan aktivitas antioksidan terbaik adalah ekstrak fraksi etil asetat.
