Abstract

This paper discussed the company's motive to join a strategic alliance from the institutional theory point of view. The theory views that strategic alliances are considered as the medium to acquire legitimation from the environment. Such legitimation then improves the company’s competitive positions and performance. Further, we propose the framework to discuss the relationship between strategic alliances and a company’s performance. The paper proceeds as follows: in the next section, we discuss the institutional theory, the strategic alliance, and firm performance. Afterward, we develop the propositions and discuss the implications for future empirical research.

Abstract

While there is ample evidence to support the direct impact of success expectations on academic achievement, little research has explored the motivational mechanisms that mediate success expectations–learning outcomes in the entrepreneurial context and student learning environment, and such studies are needed to understand how and why success expectations affect learning outcomes. For this purpose, it integrates the social cognitive approach of the theory of planned behavior (TPB) and the organismic theory of motivation of self-determination theory (SDT). More specifically, it tests the role of success expectations, motivation, and learning outcomes in the form of business ideas in an indirect conditional process where team behavior becomes a contextual variable. The sample consist of 231 students at several universities in Indonesia. Data is analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM). The results show that students' motivation acted as a mediator between success expectations and learning outcomes, and team behavior strengthens the relationship. These results provide empirical evidence to better understand the mechanism of the success expectation–learning outcome. The implications of these findings are then discussed for teaching and learning in universities.

Abstract

The investigation regarding the impact of organizational climate and Technostress on the millennial employee as the most prominent cohort is still rarely found in the context of developing countries, especially in Indonesia. Thus, this research aimed to test the effect of organizational climate on job satisfaction and Technostress and further examine the impact of Technostress on the job satisfaction of millennial employees in Indonesia. A web-based survey of 100 millennial workers from diverse companies in Indonesia was conducted. The data was analyzed using Partial Least Squares - Structural Equation Modeling (PLS- SEM). The results imply that a good Organizational Climate improves millennial employees’ Job Satisfaction and reduces their Technostress; meanwhile, no significant effect was found on the relationship between Technostress and Job Satisfaction. The implication and conclusion are discussed further.
