Abstract

The double-pass solar collector with porous media in the lower channel provides a higher outlet temperature compared to conventional single-pass collector. Therefore, the thermal efficiency of the solar collector is higher. The solar collector can be used for wide variety of applications such as solar industrial process heat and solar drying of agricultural products. A theoretical model has been developed for the double-pass solar collector. An experimental setup has been designed and constructed. Comparison of the theoretical and the experimental results have been conducted. Such comparisons include the outlets temperatures and thermal efficiencies of the solar collector for various design and operating conditions. Close agreement has been obtained between the theoretical and experimental results.Keywords: double-pass solar collector, porous media, theoretical, experimental, efficiency.

Abstract

In the 21st century, Indonesia was predicted will become one of the petroleum net-importer countries. Alternative of energy resources, including biodiesel would have to be developed as energy sources for transportation and electric generation. Oil Palm and its chemicals derivatives have been identified as the most potential raw material for biodiesel production. A study of the biodiesel production process from palm fatty acid distillate (PFAD) and methanol have been done. Laboratory experimental work has been carried out. The chemical process condition of the biodiesel production from PFAD and methanol has been experimentally identified. The chemical process condition of 65 oC, 90 minute processing and sulfuric acid catalyst amount of 1.2 % can be used as the chemical process condition for the design of biodiesel production process.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to study the preparation of vulcanized rubber  inner tube for motorcycles. Activated carbon of bangkirai wood and carbon black N330 were utilized as filler either separately formulated or combination. The ratio of activated carbon and carbon black were 25/ 0; 18/75/6,25; 12,5/12,5; 6,25/18,75 and 0,25 respectively. In wood processing, only about 60% of wood is converted to end product, with some of 30% of the rest is converted to organic solid waste. This organic solid waste needs to be handled or converted to some more usefull product such as carbon rubber filler. The filler was prepared by carbonization process at temperature 4500C for one hour and activation process with NaCl 4 % for twenty four hours, followed by pyrolysis at temperature 5000C for one hour. Filler were milled and sieved by 400 mesh siefter. The vulcanized rubber inner tube was tested for its physical properties according to SNI 06-1542-1984. The research showed that a filler combination of activated carbon of bangkirai wood and carbon black in comparison of 6,25/18,75 could meet the requirements of SNI 06-1542-1984 in tensile strength, elongation at break, 300% modulus, hardness, density, and 200% permanent set.    Keywords : filler, activated carbon, bangkirai wood, inner tube.

Abstract

Surfaktan (surface active agent) merupakan salah satu bahan kimia yang dapat menurunkan tegangan antar muka fasecair. Salah satu contohnya adalah Sodium Ligno Sulfonat (SLS) yang bermanfaat untuk meningkatkan perolehan padakilang minyak. Akan tetapi, kandungan Natrium Bisulfat pada Sodium Ligno Sulfonat dapat mengurangi kinerjaSodium Ligno Sulfonat. Salah satu cara meningkatkan kinerja Sodium Lignosulfonat dengan memodifikasikan denganpenambahan Oleyl Amin dan Formaldehid atau dikenal dengan proses Amino Alkilasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untukmenentukan kinetika reaksi dan pengaruh variasi konsentrasi Oleyl Amin. Proses Amino Alkilasi dilakukan secarabatch dalam reaktor tangki berpengaduk dengan kecepatan pengadukan 250 rpm dan penambahan Formaldehid 15 ml.Proses Amino Alkilasi dilakukan dengan menvariasikan konsentrasi Oleyl Amin (10%, 20%, 30% dan 40%)dan waktureaksi (1,2,3 dan 4 jam). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kinetika reaksi oleh reaksi kimia denganpemodelan reaksi cair-cair yaitu reaksi Sodium Ligno Sulfonat dengan Oleyl Amin. Proses Amino Alkilasi mendekatiReaksi Tingkat Dua Bimoleculer dan Reaksi Tingkat Tiga Trimoleculer. Konversi tertinggi pada Proses Amino Alkilasimencapai 0,861pada kondisi Oleyl Amin 40%lama reaksi 4 jam. Model yang sesuai untuk penelitian ini adalah reaksiirreversible tingkat dua (bimolekuler). Perolehan nilai tegangan antar muka Proses Amino Alkilasi sebesar 0,191 Mn/m.Kata Kunci : Proses Amino Alkilasi, Sodium Ligno Sulfonat, Oleyl Amin, Formaldehid, Kinetika Reaksi

Abstract

Equilibrium and kinetic data are very important for a reliable design of a large-scale adsorption system. The objective of the research was to determine the particle scale kinetic parameters of strongly adsorbed volatile organic compounds (VOCS)in activated carbon (AC) by using the differential permeation technique. The experimental rig consisted basically of upstream and downstream reservoirs separated by a slab-shaped AC that is 2 mm thick. After cleaning the slab overnight at 400 K and under vacuum condition, the experiment was started by opening the valve to allow vapor to diffuse through the AC. The upstream and downstream pressures were continuously recorded until equilibrium was reached. Another experiment was run by increasing incrementally the upstream pressure. The same experiment was carried out using nonadsorbed gas (argon) to estimate both Knudsen permeability and viscous permeability. The Knudsen, viscous, and surface diffusivities were determined by matching the total permeability against the experimental data. From the data obtained, it was found that both porosity and surface diffusivity change with loading. The surface diffusivity of benzene vapor in AC pores does not follow the Darken model, but it follows the hydrodynamic model of Gilliland, especially when the porosity is relatively constant at high loading. Abstract

Daftar Pemilih Tetap (DPT) selalu menjadi titik krusial dalam kesuksesan penyelenggaraan pemilu atau pemilihan. Kualitas DPT sangat tergantung bagaimana KPU Kabupaten dalam mengimplementasikan regulasi yang sudah ditetapkan oleh KPU RI dan KPU Provinsi. Untuk mengimplementasikan regulasi ini diperlukan kinerja yang baik dari semua unsur penyelenggara pemilihan. Kinerja KPU Kabupaten Sintang dalam pemutakhiran data dan penyusunan daftar pemilih Pemilihan Gubernur dan Wakil Gubernur Kalimantan Barat Tahun 2018 merupakan hal yang sangat strategis dalam mewujudkan pemilihan yang berkualitas. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kinerja KPU Kabupaten Sintang dalam pemutakhiran data dan penyusunan daftar pemilih yang dilihat dari aspek: (1) kualitas (quality), (2) ketepatan (promptness), (3) inisiatif (intiative), (4) kemampuan (capability), dan (5) komunikasi (communica-tion). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kualitas Daftar Pemilih Tetap (DPT) pada Pemilihan Gubernur dan Wakil Gubernur Kalimantan Barat Tahun 2018 di Kabupaten Sintang sudah baik. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan partisipasi pemilih yang mencapai 89%. Proses pemutakhiran data dan penyusunan daftar pemilih dilaksanakan sesuai jadwal yang telah ditetapkan oleh KPU Provinsi Kalimantan Barat yang berpedoman pada Peraturan KPU. Inisiatif KPU Kabupaten Sintang dalam menyelesaikan persoalan yang ada di lapangan sudah cukup baik, sehingga semua tahapan dapat dilaksanakan dengan baik. Kemampuan KPU Kabupaten Sintang dalam pemutakhiran data pemilih perlu ditingkatkan, terutama untuk PPDP dan PPS, karena merekalah ujung tombak dalam pemutakhiran data dan penyusunan daftar pemilih. KPU Kabupaten Sintang telah membangun komunikasi yang intensif dengan semua stakeholder sehingga proses pemutahiran data dan penyusunan daftar pemilih berjalan dengan baik. Kesimpulan dari penelitian adalah kinerja KPU Kabupaten Sintang dalam pemutakhiran data dan penyusunan daftar pemilih Pemilihan Gubernur dan Wakil Gubernur Kalimantan Barat Tahun 2018 dilihat dari kelima aspek yang diteliti sudah cukup baik.
