Abstract

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah penggunaan strategi REDW dinilai efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan peserta didik dalam pemahaman wacana. Populasi penelitian ini terdiri dari 35 peserta didik di SMP Bina Lestari Palembang tahun akademik 2011/2012. Peneliti hanya menggunakan satu kelas sebagai sampel dalam penelitian ini. Hal ini dikarenakan hanya terdapat satu kelas. Data diperoleh dengan cara menggunakan tes awal dan tes akhir. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian Pre-Experiment.. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa peserta didik memperoleh nilai mean yang lebih rendah pada saat tes awal dibandingkan nilai mean pada saat tes akhir. Adapun nilai mean pada saat tes awal yaitu 5,86, sedangkan nilai mean pada saat tes akhir yaitu 7,53. Lebih jauh, setelah peneliti mengkalkulasi nilai peserta didik pada tes awal dan peserta didik pada tes akhir, peneliti mendapatkan bahwa nilai t-hitung yaitu 6,35, sedangkan  t-tabel yaitu 1,69. Hal ini dapat diartikan bahwa strategi REDW sangat tepat ketika diterapkan pada peserta didik.  Kata kunci : Strategi REDW, Pembelajaran, Peserta Didik,  Pemahaman

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to improve students' writing skills in Multiliteration Learning English descriptive text through collaboration techniques in Seniour high school students in Palembang. This study used a Quasi-experimental research design method; non equivalent pretest and posttest. In analyzing the level of writing comprehension of students by using the rubric of writing descriptive text, the final test scores of control class students and experimental class students were be compared. Then the t-test value was compared with the value of t-table. The results obtained, by looking at Table t-test results, it was found that the F value is 110.049 with degreef of freedom (df) 292 with a significance value (sig.) 0,000. With the difference in the mean value of 4.116. Due to the sig value. 0,000 (<0,005) with a t-count value was 8.540, it can be concluded that there are significant differences between the two sample groups in the final results of writing skills. It can be concluded that collaboration techniques have a positive impact on students' writing abilities. Keywords:  multiliteration, collaboration, descriptive text

Abstract

Multiliteration Learning through collaborative techniques is one of the study used by teachers and lecturers in disruption era. Disruption era is an era that needs a very rapid change and transforming old things into new and work intense in the world competition, and the movement of the highly developed world industry makes us as teachers or lecturers to be ready to prepare our students in this sophisticated era. Teachers are required to be more creative in delivering classroom learning. Multiliteration learning through collaborative techniques becomes one of the more creative learning alternatives. Multiliteration learning is used to develop the competence of various sources of literacy both visual literacy, multimedia, technology, critical, cross curriculum, as well as various literacy resources that exist around people's lives. In Modern learning using a more attractive and sophisticated facilities that are able to explore the potential and mindset of learners to be more qualified. The teacher will dig the students creative and fun. The benefits of multiliteration learning in Teaching English are; (1) to explore more creative ideas in English descriptive text, (2) to improve the students English grammar; (3) to master the vocabulary in a descriptive text; and (4) to use the best facilities at school to support the development of multiliteration study.

Abstract

This study was a quasi-experimental research and oriented to measure the effectiveness for student-teachers’ reading comprehension achievement. There were 80 student-teachers who joined and were grouped into experimental and control groups. They were treated for eight meetings. Both pretest and posttest instruments were integrated for collecting the data. Both paired and independent t-tests were employed to know improvement of the two groups. The findings showed that in pretest, both of groups encountered problems related to reading comprehension. However, after being treated with this Schoology learning management system (LMS) for several meetings, experimental group students gained better achievement in reading comprehension comparing to control group. Mean scores of experimental group (75.250) was bigger than control group gained (61.875). By the same token, the F-test score (0.392) with df (78) and sig. value (0.000) informed about different qualities gained by both groups, i.e., experimental and control. In a nutshell, the integration of Schoology LMS is more effective in increasing students’ reading comprehension comparing to conventional mode of learning.

Abstract

The aims of this study were to figure out the correlation between: a) students’ metacognitive reading strategies and their reading achievement, b) students’ reading interest and their reading achievement, and c) the students’ metacognitive reading strategies, reading interest, and their reading achievement of descriptive text. This research also analyzed the contributions of independent variables toward students’ reading achievement. There were 130 students of the eighth grade involved as the samples and were selected through simple random sampling. This study employed quantitative method of correlational research design. Two questionnaires and one reading test were used to collect the data. The data obtained were analyzed by using Simple Correlation of r-Product Moment and Multiple Regression analysis. The analysis of the data showed that there was a 4.1% contribution of the students’ metacognitive reading strategies to their reading achievement, with a sig. value of 0.02 and being less than 0.05. Reading interest contributed 7.8% toward students' reading achievement, with the correlation between reading interest and reading achievement being 0.01, which was lower than 0.05. The correlations among metacognitive reading strategies, reading interest, and reading achievement were 0.003, which was less than 0.05, and both metacognitive reading strategies and reading interest contributed 8.5% to students' reading achievement. Thus, it can be stated that there were correlations among the eighth grade students at SMP Negeri 39 Palembang's metacognitive reading strategies, reading interest, and reading achievement.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat ada atau tidak adanya pengaruh pemberian reward terhadap minat belajar siswa kelas V di SD Negeri 160 Palembang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian berupa kuantitatif kolerasi. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas V SD Negeri 160 Palembang dan sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VA SD Negeri 160 Palembang. Pengumpulan data menggunakan angket dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa adanya pengaruh pemberian reward terhadap minat belajar siswa. Berdasarkan hasil analisis regresi linear sederhana yang menunjukan angka yang signifikansi sebesar 0.000 < 0.05 yang artinya Ha diterima dan Ho ditolak, dimana Ha berbunyi “Adanya pengaruh pemberian reward terhadap minat belajar siswa kelas V di SD Negeri 160 Palembang”. Hal tersebut menyatakan bahwa pemberian reward memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap minat belajar siswa kelas V di SD Negeri 160 Palembang.

Abstract

This study is aimed at finding out the similarities, dissimilarities, and possible learning difficulties faced by students learning English and Indonesian singular forms as well as its contribution to TEFL. The researchers used a qualitative research design. The documentation technique was used to collect the data. To analyze the data, the researchers used descriptive analysis. The results showed that there were four similarities and two dissimilarities between English and Indonesian singular forms. The four similarities were in indefinite article, definite article, quantitative adjective, and units of measurement. While the two dissimilarities were in the definite article and definite article. The possible learning difficulties faced by students learning English and Indonesian singular forms were that they were not very familiar with grammar rules and it made them perplexed and created mistakes when writing and speaking. The contribution was as teaching guidance that assists English teachers to create a better teaching Grammar design on singular forms in terms of countable and non-countable nouns.

Abstract

Permasalahan yang peneliti temukan adalah kurangnya disiplin sikap dan waktu. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui pengaruh kegiatan ekstrakurikuler pramuka terhadap kedisiplinan siswa di SD Negeri 1 Cengal. Metode penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif dengan jenis korelasional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini menggunakan siswa SD Negeri 1 Cengal yang mengikuti kegiatan ekstrakurikuler pramuka dengan jumlah 186 siswa. Sedangkan sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 50 siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner (angket) dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data menggunakan uji prasyarat normalitas dan linearitas. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diketahui nilai signifikansi 0,200 > 0,05 berdistribusi normal dan nilai signifikan 0,444 > 0,05 terdapat hubungan yang linear antara kegiatan ekstrakurikuler pramuka dengan kedisiplinan siswa. Serta uji hipotesisnya meggunakan korelasi dan regresi linier sederhana. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukkan bawah ada pengaruh kegiatan ekstrakurikuler pramuka terhadap kedisiplinan siswa di SD Negeri 1 Cengal dengan nilai rhitung 0,606 lebih besar rtabel 0,279 dan diperoleh persamaan regresinya Y = 43,034 + 0,542X dan nilai Fhitung sebesar 27,914 lebih besar dari Ftabel sebesar 4,04 dengan tingkat signifikan sebesar 0,000 < 0,05 sehingga Ho ditolak dan Ha diterima, artinya ada pengaruh yang signifikan antara kegiatan ekstrakurikuler pramuka terhadap kedisiplinan siswa di SD Negeri 1 Cengal. Serta diperoleh nilai R Square sebesar 0,368, dengan demikian koefisien determinasinya sebesar 36,8% sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa kedisiplinan siswa dipengaruhi oleh kegiatan ekstrakurikuler pramuka sebasar 36,8% sedangkan 63,2% dipengaruhi oleh faktor lain yang tidak termasuk dalam variabel ini.AbstractThe issue that the specialist found was the absence of disposition and time discipline. Abstract

Despite the benefits technology brings to English learning at school, few teachers were still taking advantage of it. Not only was the iPad was a learning medium with short and medium-term used, it also serves as a device that helps improved student education. The objective of the research is to identify the types of the English teachers attitude towards iPad in teaching and learning processes. However, a descriptive qualitative study was conducted to investigate the attitude of English teachers towards iPad in teaching and learning process at IT Harapan Mulya Junior in Palembang. Questionnaires and interviews were used to collect data. Data analysis was processed in the form of reduction data, display data, and conclusion drawing and verification data. The results showed that the English teachers provided 90 utterances consisting of 31 cognitive attitudes, 26 conative attitudes, 24 affective attitudes, and 9 evaluative attitudes. Cognitive attitudes was most often exhibited by the teachers. While the lowest was the evaluative attitude.
