Abstract

This present research applied mixed methods research. The design of the research was sequential design. Population in this research was 94 students of the 6th semester of English Department in the State College for Islamic Studies (STAIN) Ponorogo. Since it applied population sampling technique, the number of sample was the same as the number of population. The researcher employed questionnaires, documentation, observation and in-depth interview as data collection technique. Since the hypothesis is intended to find the effect of students’ learning styles and their perception of blended learning on learning outcomes, the Simple Linier Regression by using SPSS 19.00 for Windows was applied. The second phase, the result of observation and in-depth interview were analyzed by Miles and Huberman’s view of qualitative data analysis consisting of data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusion. The findings showed that there is a significant effect of students’ learning style and their perception of blended learning on learning outcomes and the equation regression is Y = 76.784 + 0.595X1 + 0.312X. During the implementation, the lecturer adapted various models of blended learning for boosting students’ learning outcomes. Lecturer mixes the use of online and offline interaction in the teaching and learning process. It relates to the concept of Blended learning which integrate face-to-face and virtual learning environment. Students are given opportunity to convey their idea online through Edmodo platform, email and blog as well as communicating and discussing particular issues by face-to-face interaction with their classmates and lecturer.

Abstract

Abstrak: Teknologi memiliki peran penting dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, terutama dalam bidang pendidikan. CALL (Computer Assisted Language Learning) sebagai bagian dari teknologi telah memberikan kontribusi untuk pengajaran bahasa Inggris terutama kemampuan berbicara. Penelitian expost facto ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan CALL (Computer Assisted Language Learning) terhadapkemampuan berbicara siswa. Populasi penelitian ini adalah 83 mahasiswa semester 2 program studi Bahasa Inggris STAIN Ponorogo dan 70 mahasiswa sebagai sampel. Data diperoleh melalui kuesioner dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data dengan menggunakan regresi linier sederhana melalui SPSS 19.00. Hasil tabel perhitungan ANOVA menunjukkan bahwa Fhitung (392.483)> Ftabel (7,08)). Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada pengaruh yang signifikan dari penggunaan CALL terhadap kemampuan berbicara siswa dengan model persamaan regresi adalah Y=29.650+0.715X. Berdasarkan temuan tersebut, dosen dan praktisi pendidikan disarankan agar Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) digunakan sebagai media dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara.

Abstract

Active learning strategies provide a wide variety of activities which can be integrated in a College EFL Class especially on Speaking 1 Course at Ponorogo Islamic State College. They provide many benefits, such as giving the students’ chances to apply various ways in order to comprehend the material. Also, they emphasize the significance of the learner’s involvement in the learning process. Active Learning strategies are considered appropriate to give students the same amount of chance in practicing their speaking skill and to pay attention in creating a learning situation. Some active learning strategies including the advantages and their application procedures are intended to help learners achieve the objective of Speaking1 course are presented in the article. Lecturers may, however, find that some just do not fit their style of teaching or that others would work well in their speaking class or with modifications. On the other hand, there are some obstacles that occur during theimplementation of active learning, namely disinterested students and time pressures.Keywords: active learning, speaking

Abstract

This research focused on fostering students’ critical thinking through Project-Based Learning. The design of the research was descriptive qualitative method. The subjects were the lecturer of TEFL 1 course and 25 students in C class of the fourth semester of STAIN Ponorogo who took TEFL 1 course. The instruments used are in the form of observation sheet and interview guideline. The data analysis applied in this research used data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings showed that the implementation Project-Based Learning that fosters the students’ critical thinking in TEFL class are through the following steps: (1) Discussing the materials about English Language Teaching Method, (2) working with the group to construct scenario of teaching practice, (3) practicing the scenario, (4) recording the teaching practice into video, and (5) evaluating the video product. Moreover, the result of interview indicates that the students showed significantly positive attitude toward the implementation of Project-Based Learning. Finally, English teachers are recommended to implement Project-Based Learning in EFL class since it facilitates the students to build their critical thinking.Keywords: critical thinking, Project-Based Learning

Abstract

Social changes and development of technology force EFL teachers’ struggle to utilize potentially useful technology and promote learner autonomy. Edmodo as a highly versatile micro blogging platform is needed to develop learner autonomy in virtual learning environments. Keeping this need in mind, this paper reports on the attempt to develop learner autonomy online of 65 EFL learners in the fifth semester of English Department in STAIN Ponorogo through Edmodo. Data were collected through observations and the analyses of the observations light on the overall experience of learning with Edmodo especially through the lens of learner autonomy. The results showed that Edmodo afforded students the opportunity to take responsibility for their own learning and involve them in taking ownership (partial or total) of many learning processes. However, lack of access to internet and the ambiguous task instruction also contributed to a limited level of social interaction in virtual learning environments. Finally, it can be concluded that well-designed tasks and accessibility to internet are essential to maximize the potentials of Edmodo for learner autonomy.

Abstract

This research tries to attempt to know the effect of Project-based learning toward speaking ability and its? effective implementation. The design of the research sequential was designs in which data that are collected and examined in one stage inform the data collected in the next phase. Abstract

Artikel ini ingin menganalisi tentang strategi kepala sekolah dalam meningkatkan manajemen pelayanan khusus madrasah, konteks penelitian yang mendasari penelitian ini ialah karena Kualitas sekolah salah satunya ditentukan oleh peran dan kepemimpinan kepala sekolah, disamping karena ada kualitas guru dan manajemen organisasi yang baik yang menentukan sekolah berkualitas. Sekolah yang berkualitas diperlukan inovasi dalam manajemen pelayanan pendidikan, salah satu inovasi pelayanan pendidikan di MI Ma?arif Lengkong Sukorejo Ponorogo ialah adanya manajemen pelayanan khusus madrasah yaitu pelayanan khusus perpustakaan dan pelayanan khusus kesehatan di madrasah. Keberhasilan dari pelaksanaan manajemen pelayanan khusus ini salah satunya adalah adanya strategi kepala sekolah yang tepat sasaran. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan penelitian kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian studi kasus, sedangkan teknik pengambilan data  peneliti menggunakan teknik wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Selanjutnya analisis data peneliti menggunakan teknik analisis domain, analisis taksonomi, analisis komponen, dan analisis tema. Temuan penelitian ini pertama, strategi kepala sekolah dalam meningkatkan manajemen pelayanan khusus perpustkaan melalui membangun budaya literasi sejak dini ialah 1) efektifitas manajemen pengelolaan perpustakaan sekolah, 2) pembuatan pedoman dan peraturan perpustakaan sekolah, 3) pekan berkunjung perpustakaan sekolah untuk menarik minat pengunjung dan pembaca di perpustakaan, 4) hiburan mencerdaskan melalui lomba bercerita yang diadakan di akhir setelah ujian tengah semester maupun setelah ujian akhir semester. Kedua, strategi kepala sekolah dalam meningkatkan manajemen pelayanan khusus kesehatan melalui kelas sehat adalah sebagaimana berikut: 1) memasang poster menjaga kesehatan setiap kelas, 2) kerjasama dengan puskesmas untuk memberikan penyuluhan pendidikan kesehatan, 3) membentuk unit kesehatan sekolah sebagai pusat pelayanan pertama bagi siswa dan guru, 4) mengadakan lomba kesehatan dan kebersihan setiap tahun sekali untuk membangun kesadaran dan motivasi dalam menjaga kesehatan

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to determine the correlation between three variables, namely, interpersonal, intrapersonal and emotional intelligence at the fifth grade students in Muhammadiyah Elementary School Ponorogo at the 2016/2017 Academic Year.  It employed correlational research design. The population of this present research was 125 students of the fifth grade students in Muhammadiyah Elementary School Ponorogo and it assigned 94 students as sample by using proportinate random sampling technique. The data was collected through questionnaire. It utilized multiple correlations formula by using SPSS 16 for Windows as data analysis. The findings showed that there is significant correlation of interpersonal and intrapersonal intelligence on emotional intelligence at the fifth grade students in Muhammadiyah Elementary School Ponorogo at the 2016/2017 Academic Year and its value was 0.75.Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tingkat korelasi kecerdasan interpersonal dan intrapersonal dengan kecerdasan emosi siswa kelas V SD Muhammadiyah Ponorogo tahun pelajaran 2016/2017. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kuantitatif berjenis korelasional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah 125 siswa. Dengan menggunakan teknik proportinate random sampling diperoleh 94 siswa sebagai sampel.  Adapun teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu menggunakan teknik korelasi berganda dengan menggunakan bantuan SPSS versi 16.0 for windows. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa terdapat korelasi yang signifikan antara kecerdasan interpersonal  dan intrapersonal dengan kecerdasan emosi siswa kelas V SD Muhammadiyah Ponorogo tahun pelajaran 2016/2017 dengan nilai korelasi sebesar 0,75.

Abstract

Abstract: This present is intended to reveal the implementation of the tradition as well as the process of acculturation of religious harmony between Muslim and Catholic communities in the commemorating the 1000th day of the death tradition This ethnographic study was conducted in Bandungan, Saradan Madiun.The data was taken by using observation and interview to religious scholars as well as Catholic and Moslem community. Furthermore, the data were analyzed using Miles and Hubberman’s view of data display, data reduction and drawing conclusion. The findings showed that the implementation of praying of commemorating the 1000th day of the death both in Muslim and Catholic community in Bandungan Village, Saradan carried out together in a certain place and the prayer led by Catholic leader and vice versa. Secondly, the process of acculturation of religious harmony between Muslim and Catholic communities in tradition and culture is in the form of respecting religious activities both sacred and profane each other. Furthermore, the harmony of community in Bandungan Saradan, are developed based on philosophy of social harmony which is constructed from five basic concepts, namely: value, structural theory, idealist, and reciprocity and interaction concept.الملخص: يهدف هذا البحث إلى أن يكشف تنفيذ التقليد الأدعية لمدة ألف يوم من الموت وعملية التبادل للوئام الديني بين مجتمعات المسلمين والكاطولكيين. كان هذا البحث مستندا بالدراسة أتنوغرافيا على المجتمع في قرية باندوغان سارادان ماديون. تأخذ البيانات بالملاحظة والمقابلة على العلماء ومجتمعات المسلمين والكاطولكيين. وكان تحليل البيانات باستخدام تقنية مايلز وهوبرمان وهي تقديم البيانات ، والحد من البيانات وصنع القرارات. وتدل النتائج على أنه أن ينفذ التقليد الأدعية لمدة ألف يوم من الموت تنفيذا جماعيا أي إن كان المتوفى مسلما فكان الكاطولكيون يشاركون في الأدعية على منهج دينهم كما جرت في العكس. وما في الواقع  يمثل على القيم الاجتماعية كالتعاون والعلاقات الأسرية . وبالتالي، كانت عملية التبادل للوئام الديني تمثل على بنية الإحترام فيما بينهما من الأنشطة الدينية مقدسة كانت أم مدنسة. ويصنع الوئام الديني في المجتمعات بإشارة إلى النظريات في الوئام الإجتماعي حيث تتكون على خمس نظريات وهي نظرية القيمة والنظرية البنيوية والنظرية المثالية ونظرية التبادلية ونظرية التفاعل.Abstrakt: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap pelaksanaan tradisi  mendoakan pada 1000 hari kematian masyarakat muslim dan katolik dan bagaimana proses akulturasi kerukunan beragama masyarakat muslim dan katolik dalam tradisi dan budaya di Desa Bandungan Kecamatan Saradan Kabupaten Madiun. Penelitian yang dilakukan menggunakan studi etnografi masyarakat di Desa Bandungan Kecamatan Saradan Kabupaten Madiun yang berpenduduk beragama Katolik dan Islam dalam memperingati 1000 hari kematian. Pengambilan data menggunakan wawancara kepada tokoh agama, masyarakat Katolik dan Islam, dan pengamatan partisipan, sedangkan analisis menggunakan teknik analis data kualitatif  Miles dan Hubberman yaitu penyajian data, reduksi data dan pengambilan keputusan. Temuan penelitian ialah pertama, pelaksanaan tradisi mendoakan pada 1000 hari kematian masyarakat muslim dan katolik Dusun Jenangan Desa Bandungan Kecamatan Saradan Kabupaten Madiun dilakukan bersama-sama yaitu apabila yang meninggal beragama Islam maka masyarakat katolik ikut terlibat dalam tirual mendoakan akan tetapi mendoakan dengan cara katolik, dan juga sebaliknya apabila yang meninggal katolik maka masyarakat muslim ikut dalam ritual tetapi mendoakan dengan cara Islam. Hal ini dilakukan karena ada nilai-nilai dimasyarakat seperti kebersamaan dan masih ada hubungan famili meskipun berbeda agama. Kedua, proses akulturasi kerukunan beragama masyarakat muslim dan katolik dalam tradisi dan budaya yaitu masyarakat saling muslim dan katolik saling menghormati dan menghargai kegiatan keagamaan baik sakral dan profane. Kerukunan pada masyarakat terbentuk mengacu pada teori kerukunan masyarakat  yang dibangun dengan lima teori dasar yaitu: teori nilai, teori struktural, teori idealis, teori resiprositas, dan teori interaksi.
