Abstract

Staphylococcus aureus is a bacterial strain that causes acne. Linalool and limoneneis are the ingredients of Citrus bergamia essensial oil which has antibacterial activity Staphylococcus aureus. This research aimed to examine the effective consentration of Citrus bergamiaessensial oil as antibacterial Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 29213. Citrus bergamia essensial oil is made in series a concentration of 1%, 2% and 3% for testing of antibacterial activity using the pitting diffusion method. Based on the test results of antibacterial activity gained an average diameter of inhibitory zone Citrus bergamiaessensial oil in a row 1,151 cm; 1,529 cm; 1,683 cm. The statistically test results showed significant difference in the antibacterial activity of Citrus bergamiaessensial oil in concentrations 1%, 2% and 3% to the growth of Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 29213. Citrus bergamiaessensial oil has effective concentration 3% as stapgylocuccus aureus antibacterial and made peel-off gel mask formula. Test of antibacterial activity obtained resistibility zone diameter 1,259 cm. The result of t-test indicated that the Citrus bergamiaessensial oil peel-off gel mask has significant affect on antibacterial activity of Citrus bergamiaessensial oil.

Abstract

SARIMinyak atsiri daun jeruk nipis memiliki kandungan limonen yang mampu menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Staphylococcus aureus.Bakteri Staphylococcus aureus merupakan salah satu bakteri penyebab jerawat.Bentuk masker gel peel offdipilih dalam formulasi untuk mempermudah penggunaannya, dan mampu memberikan pelepasan zat aktif lebih baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas carbopol 940 dalam sediaan masker gel peel offminyak atsiri daun jeruk nipis pada karakteristik fisik dan aktivitas antibakteri Staphylococcus aureus.Carbopol 940 yang digunakan pada Formula I (1%), Formula II (1,75%), Formula III (2,25%). Sediaan masker gel peel off minyak atsiri daun jeruk nipis diuji karakteristik fisik meliputi uji organoleptis, homogenitas, viskositas, daya lekat, daya sebar, pH, waktu mengering, elastisitas dan aktivitas antibakteri terhadap Staphylococcus aureus. Hasil analisis menunjukkancarbopol 940 dalam sediaan masker gel peel off minyak atsiri daun jeruk nipismemilikiefek yang signifikan.

Abstract

Abstract The  antioxidant effect of  phenolic compounds contained in the ethanol extract of corncob waste due to oxidizing characters thats play a role in neutralizing free radicals as well as a sunscreen. This study aims at acknowledging the optimum formula of the  corncobs ethanol extract as the utilization of corncob which is a waste into a sunscreen active ingredient preparation in the form of cream with the reduction of particle size of the corncobs ethanol extract. The preparation optimization parameter includes preparation physical stability test  such as preparation pH test, preparation cream type, dispersive power capability and preparation adhesive power. The optimization calculation by using design software expet 9. Besides, there has also conducted an establishment of total phenolic degree of corncobs extract nanoparticles and cream preparations of corncobs extract nanoparticles. In particle size test, all of the tested formula are still inmicroparticles (over 100 nm). This indicates the need for optimization of various extracts addition, chitosan and Na-TPP to produce nanoparticles and need to try to use other crosslinking such as pectin and alginate. The ethanol extract of corncob particles coated chitosan to be added in the cream is the ethanol extract of corncob with level of 6 mg/ mL with chitosan ratio 1:1, because it has smallest average particle size. The optimum formula both of cream base or cream preparation with active ingredients of corncobs ethanol extract microparticles are creams that contains tween comparison 80 and span 80 at 15: 1 with the observation result of each parameter proved not to significantly differ from the results of software prediction of design software expert 9.The mean levels of total phenolic determination result in the corncobs ethanol extract is 48.4685 ppm and the cream preparation of corncobs extract nanoparticles is obtained 189.8923 ppm.

Abstract

ABSTRAK   Kulit buah manggis mengandung mangostin yang berkhasiat untuk obat diare dengan mekanisme menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Escherichia coli yang banyak mengkontaminasi makanan. Secara tradisional digunakan dalam bentuk rebusan yang dirasa tidak acceptable. Tablet menjadi pilihan dengan alasan praktis, mudah digunakan dan murah.Efek kulit buah manggis sebagai obat diare diharapkan dapat diperoleh secara cepat setelah penggunaan, sehingga perlu dilakukan optimasi penggunaan bahan pengahancur dan bahan pengikat pada formula tablet. Penelitan bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh dan komposisi yang tepat yang terdiri atas polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) sebagai pengikat dan sodium starch glycolate (SSG) sebagai bahan penghancur. Rancangan formula dibuat berdasarkan perhitungan menggunakan software design expert dengan metode simplex lattice design. Pengujian dilakukan pada aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak dan karakteristik tablet. Hasil uji aktivitas anti bakteri diperoleh Kadar Hambat Minimal (KHM) 30%. Hasil Uji kekerasan didapatkan persamaan Y=6XA+4,27XB+0,67XAB dan persamaan waktu hancur tablet adalah Y=14,07XA+5,13XB-3,2XAB. Peningkatan kadar PVP dan SSG dapat meningkatkan kekerasan dan waktu hancur tablet, sedangkan  interaksi PVP dan SSG dalam tablet dapat meningkatkan kekerasan serta menurunkan waktu hancur tablet. Formula optimum diperoleh konsentrasi PVP 0,58% dan SSG 6,42% dengan kekerasan 5,3 kg dan waktu hancur 4 menit 55 detik. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa formula optimum yang didapat memenuhi persyaratan validitas.
