The provision of immunization in children isoften found various obstacles caused by the target of immunization cannot be achieved. Thiscan be caused due to a lack of information and immunization schedule errors due to the manytypes of immunizations with different schedules. As technology develops, various health-relatedcellular applications emerge called mhealth. Mhealth related to immunization is expected toincrease information for parents so they can provide immunizations for their children asrecommended. The purpose of this study is to determine the role of mobile applications relatedto immunization in increasing immunization information for parents. Literature is collected forreview, literature search uses several online databases that are included in the inclusioncriteria and is limited to 2015-2020. Nine articles are used as the main analysis, other articlesare added to support the discussion. Cellular applications related to immunization areavailable in various forms. Overall, these applications have a major role in providinginformation about immunization knowledge and immunization schedule information to increaseparental participation to provide immunizations to their children in full. Abstract

This study aimed to analyze complementary food fulfillment during disaster situations in Indonesia since it frequently experiences natural disasters and young children face unique challenges related to their feeding needs in disaster situations. This qualitative case study based on the Mount Merapi eruption and Sumedang landslide in 2021 collected data using observations, forum group discussions, and in-depth interviews; then, a thematic analysis was conducted. This study involved 17 participants, including Non-governmental Organizations (NGO) activists, health workers, residents involved in making complementary foods, and primary caregivers of children aged 6–24 months. This study found that there were five themes generated from the data analysis; 1) the donation of home-based complementary foods based on local wisdom, 2) inadequate complementary feeding, 3) limited resources to manage the complementary feeding, 4) clean versus dirty conditions, and 5) mothers’ endeavour in complementary feeding practices. This study concluded that the complementary feeding practices during a disaster in Indonesia were supported by NGOs, residents, and nearby healthcare workers and thus represent a form of mutual cooperation among the Indonesian people.

Abstract

Background: Universal immunization coverage among children in Indonesia is low compared to the global target. Many children in Indonesia are not fully immunized as recommended by the government, which results in a high mortality rate. The government has developed a mobile application (PrimaKu) to provide information on vaccinations and reminder features. However, the successful use of the immunization features of the app has not been widely studied. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the use of PrimaKu on maternal attitudes toward immunization and complete basic immunizations status among Indonesian children aged 12 to 24 months. Methods: A cross-sectional research was conducted at a public health center in West Java Province, Indonesia, from August to December 2020. Convenience sampling was used to select the respondents. Data were collected using validated questionnaires and analyzed using binomial logistic regression. Results: A total of 119 mothers were included. About 44.5% of children had a complete basic immunization status. Mothers who had a supportive attitude toward immunization were 3.58 times (95% CI 1.49-8.57, p 0.003) more likely to complete the basic immunization, and those who used the mobile app were 3.23 times (95% CI 1.18-8.87, p 0.034) more likely to complete the immunization.  Conclusion: Using the PrimaKu mobile application could increase maternal attitudes toward immunization and complete basic immunization status. Therefore, public health nurses should provide comprehensive education and improve mothers’ literacy to use the application.

Abstract

During the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 basic immunization coverage in Indonesia decreased compared to last year. This study aims to find out a picture of the mother's experience in getting basic immunization for an infant during the Covid-19 pandemic in the Sawangan Healthcare Service Center, Depok City. Qualitative research design with phenomenological approach model, data collection with in-depth interviews of 7 participants with snowball sampling data collection method. The results found 6 themes including 1) An overview of the meaning of basic immunization, 2) a Negative maternal response to getting basic immunization in an infant during the Covid-19 pandemic, 3) a Positive maternal response to getting basic immunization for an infant during the Covid-19 pandemic, 4) Sources of maternal support in getting basic immunization for an infant during the Covid-19 pandemic, 6) Maternal barriers in getting basic immunization during the Covid-19 pandemic, 7) Mothers' expectations in basic immunization services for an infant during the Covid-19 pandemic. The enthusiasm of the mothers was extraordinary in their efforts to continue to get immunizations for the infants. However, government policies and regulations regarding immunization services during the Covid-19 pandemic have had a huge impact on the completeness of basic immunization coverage for infants during the Covid-19 pandemic, so this becomes a new threat and problem, especially the increase in diseases that can be prevented by immunization. Mothers with babies aged 0-12 months must improve their information technology skills to find out basic immunization service programs during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Stunting is a problem of chronic malnutrition in young children. Some of the causes of stunting were inappropriate of complementary feeding practices and lack of support from health cadres. One of the stunting locus areas in Indonesia is East Lombok Regency. An education programme needs to be conducted for stunting prevention, such as education of complementary feeding practices and socialisation of the book called "Rempah Lombok". The book was prepared as a guideline for cadres and mothers to provide recommended complementary feeding with local Lombok recipes. The indicator of the success of this activity was done by giving a question-and-answer quiz directly before and after the education process related to complementary feeding practices. The existence of programmes was expected to guide the cadres and mothers more easily and confidently in providing appropriate complementary feeding practices and improving the nutritional status of under-five children in East Lombok.

Abstract

Community Service (PkM) in this study aims to enhance the capabilities of Health Cadres and Mother-Child Duos in addressing the issue of stunting through the utilization of Bumbu Banten in the village of Pasireurih. The background lies in the limited knowledge among the community regarding Complementary Feeding (MPASI) and the prevalence of instant MPASI provision. The majority of Pasireurih village residents are engaged in the agriculture sector, showing potential in utilizing local resources for MPASI production. The objectives of PkM include improving the community's knowledge, skills, and motivation in providing adequate MPASI, utilizing local food resources, and recognizing the ease of MPASI preparation. PkM also aims to enhance the nutritional status of toddlers and empower health cadres and mothers in Pasireurih. The PkM methodology involves lectures, discussions, and practical training. Results demonstrate goal attainment, mastery of planned materials, and positive evaluations of MPASI preparation practices by toddler's mothers. This PkM has successfully increased awareness and the capabilities of the Pasireurih community in addressing stunting issues through the utilization of local resources and locally-informed MPASI.
