Abstract

The purpose of community service is to provide knowledge and skills to elementary school teachers about: 1) ICT Literation, 2) the use of ICT for learning, and 3) techniques to develop ICT-based learning media. To equip the ability, the method applied is a 2-day workshop equivalent to 16 hours lesson (JP). This dedication program has been implemented and followed by 22 teachers from 7 public elementary schools in Parepare Town of South Sulawesi. Based on the process evaluation data, 64% of the participants rated very well against the workshop. The usefulness of this workshop was also felt very well by 36% of the participants. In the material element 82% of participants stated good, on the element of facilitator 64% of participants rated very well and on time allocation element 50% of participants assume less. The results of the workshops appear to be observed ie the participants have been able to: 1) explore the use of the internet to support the implementation of learning, such as youtube, learning sites, virtual laboratories, 2) to create effective presentations and interactive learning media using powerpoint; 3) develop video-based learning media animation simple utilizing animaker application and 4) developing learning evaluation tool with wondershare quiz creator.Keywords: ICT Literacy, media development

Abstract

One form of mandatory activity for teachers in developing their competence is scientific publications.This is affirmed in Article 11 Peraturan Menteri PAN & RB No 16 tahun 2009 about Jabatan Fungsional Guru. Butin the field, there are still many teachers who have difficulty fulfilling the obligations of scientific publications sothat their careers are hampered. This also happened in the Kelompok Kerja Guru (KKG) XIV of Kota Parepare,specifically there were problems: 1) Limitations of understanding of scientific publications for the development ofprofessionalism and elementary school teacher careers, 2) Low competency in preparing applicative researchproposals for elementary school teachers, and 3) Low competency in the preparation of scientific articles andstrategies for publishing scientific articles in scientific journals. For this purpose, this service activity aims toprovide solutions to these problems, namely by implementing the Program Kemitraan Masyarakat (PKM) in theform of Research Assistance and Preparation of Scientific Articles Eligible Publication for Elementary Teachers.Activities are carried out in 3 stages: 1) debriefing material on Teacher Career Development Policy & itsRegulations, 2) Technical Guidance for Educational Research and 3) Technical Guidance for Preparing ScientificArticles that are Publication. After all stages of the PKM have been implemented, it can be concluded that theimplementation of this PKM has provided a solution to the partner's problems. Although individually not allteachers are able to achieve the target, in general the teachers of the KKG XIV Kota Parepare members have beenable to improve: 1) their insights on Teacher Career Development Policies & Regulations, 2) their ability totechnically plan and carry out educational research and 3) his ability to technically compile scientific articles that areworthy of publication.

Abstract

Reading is one of the language skills that must be mastered by every student, the ability to read becomes one of the mandatory components in the national education curriculum. However, assessment programs of various international institutions and the Ministry of Education & Culture show that students in Indonesia are still low in their reading ability, in this case reading comprehension skills. For this reason, through this literature study, the problems and solutions are examined based on various library sources. The results of the literature study show that there are different standards between the teaching of reading in education in Indonesia and the standards used by various international institutions in measuring students' reading skills. In addition there are various factors driving the low ability & reading culture of students in Indonesia, namely: 1) Reading has not become a necessity, let alone become a culture, 2) Misperception about the concept of reading ability in most societies including students and teachers, 3) Capacity building reading is still perceived as part of the responsibility of language courses only, 3) The learning process still does not utilize models, methods, learning strategies that are diverse and suitable for reading comprehension learning, 4) reading material, learning activities and practice / evaluation questions there are teaching materials in schools that tend to still dwell on low order thinking skills, 5) Not yet the maximum facilities and infrastructure of school libraries as a center for developing the ability and culture of reading students, and 6) Program of Gerakan Literasi Sekolah (GLS) has not shown the progress expected to build a reading culture.

Abstract

Berbagai studi internasional menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa di Indonesia bergategori rendah. Kemampuan membaca pemahaman di sekolah dasar terutama di kelas lanjut sering diabaikan sehingga hasilnya rendah. Oleh karena itu penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menelaah penerapan metode SQ3R untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa Kelas IV SD Negeri 46 Parepare. Pendekatan yang dilakukan adalah pendekatan kualitatif. Jenis Penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK). Subyek penelitianyaitu siswa dan guru kelas IV SD Negeri 46 Parepare. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan sebanyak 3 siklus. Data diperoleh dengan tehnik observasi dan tes. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kualifikasi proses pembelajaran membaca pemahaman dengan metode SQ3R di siklus I, II dan III semakin baik. Seiring dengan itu, kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa juga semakin meningkat di siklus I, II dan III. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah penerapan metode Survey, Question, Read, Recite, Review (SQ3R) mampu meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas IV SD Negeri 46 Parepare.Kata Kunci: metode SQ3R, membaca pemahaman

Abstract

The world community agreed on the importance of information media literacy for the world's population, not least the students, to the era of media saturated world. The general objective of this study is determine the level of information media literacy students of Primary School Teacher Education, Faculty of Education, University of Makassar, especially at UNM Campus V Parepare. Interest in particular to determine: 1) The influence of the level of media literacy in the student information on the ability of writing his thesis, 2) Influence of gender on the ability of a student thesis, and 3) Interaction between the level of media literacy and sex of the student information with the ability thesis. This study uses causal comparative (ex post facto) with a 2x2 factorial design. Subjects were students who complete the thesis in the second semester 2015/2016. Collecting data using questionnaires and documentation study. Test the hypothesis using analysis of variance (ANOVA) with a two-way interaction. The results showed that the average score of the level of media literacy of information the students were in the category of basic level and only 18% that are at an advanced level that indicates a high access of information media among students of Primary School Teacher Education, Faculty of Education, University of Makassar, especially at UNM Campus V Parepare has not been matched by the good ability of information media literacy. Hypothesis test results show: 1) There is the influence of the level of media literacy in the student information on the ability of writing his thesis, 2) there is no influence of the sex of the students in the ability of his thesis, and 3) there is interaction between the level of media literacy information and gender with the ability of students in thesis.Keywords: information media literacy; information literacy; media literacy; ability of writing thesis

Abstract

Based on the results of studies on literacy skills, analysis of the empirical situation and condition of libraries in various elementary schools in Kota Parepare, it can be concluded that the problems faced by the majority of primary schools related to library functions to improve reading culture and literacy skills of students are: 1) governance libraries are still low, 2) the competence of human resources library managers are still low and 3) empowerment of library utilization programs in primary schools to improve reading culture and literacy skills of students who are still low too. So this devotional program provides solutions to overcome the problems of partners in the form of assistance to optimize the function of school libraries. Assistance involves implementers of service programs, lecturers and students in course of Pengelolaan Perpustakaan di SD, principals, teachers, staff and students at 6 partner schools. Stages of mentoring is to rearrange the management of libraries both administration and governance of the room and collections, upgrading the ability of library management and library program development activities to improve reading culture and literacy skills of students. Based on the results of assistance, it can be concluded that the mentoring has succeeded in restoring the function of the library as a center of literacy activities in primary schools. Arrangement of administrative, interior and collections make the library in 6 partner schools an interesting and fun place for student literacy activities. Facilities and programs to improve reading culture and literacy skills of students have also been established and implemented in 6 partner schools.

Abstract

Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengulas tentang: 1) bagaimanakah aspek Value, Expectancy dan Self Regulation pada konsep motivasi?, 2) bagaimana strategi menumbuhkan Value dan Expectancy positif serta kemampuan Self Regulated Learning pada siswa?. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi pustaka dari berbagai buku dan jurnal ilmiah. Membahas tentang motivasi, maka ada dua konsep yang penting yaitu value dan ekspektasi, yang kemudian oleh Eccles dan Wigfild diistilahkan dengan Expectancy-Value Model. Value yaitu nilai subyektif terhadap tujuan yang ingin dicapai, dengan kata lain value mengacu pada sejauh mana seseorang peduli atau menghargai tugas yang ada. Dengan demikian seberapa keras siswa belajar akan dipengaruhi oleh value yang mereka miliki atas tujuan yang telah mereka tetapkan. Agar termotivasi dalam mengejar tujuan belajar, siswa juga harus memegang harapan terhadap hasil belajar yang positif (Expectancy), yaitu harapan untuk keberhasilan mencapai tujuan. Ekspektasi atau harapan dapat memberikan pengaruh yang kuat pada motivasi siswa. Seberapa keras siswa belajar sangat bergantung pada seberapa besar harapan yang ingin mereka capai. Harapan terhadap hasil juga mencerminkan keyakinan bahwa tindakan spesifik yang dilakukannya akan membawa hasil yang diinginkan. Harapan positif akan terhubung/terkait dengan perilaku siswa dan berujung pada hasil positif yang diinginkan. Lingkungan belajar yang dekat dengan penggunaan teknologi (digital) juga menuntut keterlibatan diri karena minimnya bimbingan dan dukungan terstruktur dan intensif sepanjang proses pembelajaran berlangsung. Untuk mendorong pembelajaran yang efektif pada lingkungan seperti itu, siswa harus dilatih dalam menguasai strategi self regulation. Secara umum, self regulation dapat menjelaskan proses pembelajaran siswa dan keberhasilan mereka di kelas. Ketika siswa termotivasi untuk belajar, mereka cenderung lebih menginvestasikan waktu dan energi yang diperlukan untuk belajar dan menerapkan keterampilan self regulation yang sesuai. Maka menjadi tantangan bagi para pendidik saat ini untuk menumbuhkan value dan Expectancy yang positif pada siswa serta meningkatkan kemampuan self regulated learning mereka agar termotivasi mencapai tujuan belajar yang dingginkan.

Abstract

Secara geografis Indonesia termasuk suatu negara yang berpotensi sekaligus rawan bencana seperti letusan gunung berapi, gempa bumi, tsunami, banjir dan tanah longsor. Untuk itu kesadaran akan potensi bencana menjadi hal yang sangat penting bagi setiap warga negara Indonesia. Hasil penelitian studi pustaka ini menunjukkan bahwa pendidikan menjadi sarana yang strategis untuk mengenalkan potensi bencana dan resikonya kepada setiap peserta didik, sehingga kelak menjadi warga negara yang sadar akan bencana alam. Pendidikan risiko atas bencana alam atau lebih populer dengan pendidikan kebencanaan (disaster education) atau pendidikan resiko kebencanaan (disaster risk education) adalah proses membangun kesadaran yang dimulai dari membangun pengetahuan, pemahaman dan tindakan yang mendorong kesiapsiagaan, pencegahan dan pemulihan. Dalam menghadapi kondisi alam saat ini, baik secara individu maupun masyarakat, manusia harus belajar hidup dengan alam, bukan mencoba mengendalikannya, sehingga memerlukan upaya mitigasi yang fokusnya berupaya menghindari dan meminimalisir bahaya melalui berbagai rekayasa teknologi. Namun demikian akan lebih tepat jika mitigasi dimulai dari perubahan perilaku manusia itu sendiri dalam menghadapi bahaya bencana alam. Membahas hal ini maka pendidikan kebencanaan menjadi mutlak diperlukan sebab pendidikan dianggap efektif mampu merubah perilaku dan perubahan perilaku cenderung jauh lebih murah dan lebih permanen daripada rekayasa teknologi semata. Oleh karena itu itu perlu langkah strategis guna: 1) Menata kembali sistem pendidikan kebencanaan yang jelas, terstruktur dan sistematis, 2) Menata kembali peran yang jelas dan tegas diantara kementerian dan lembaga-lembaga terkait dengan kebencanaan, 3) Menyusun kembali kurikulum kebencanaan (disaster curriculum) dan 4) Melakukan sosialisasi dan edukasi tentang sistem dan kurikulum pendidikan kebencanaan yang terstruktur, konsisten dan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

The era of the coronavirus disease pandemic is increasingly driving the process of transforming teacher education and training from face-to-face to online-based. Besides having flexibility and accessibility, in practice, the transformation process has several weaknesses and challenges. One of them is a culture of self-regulated learning from the participating teachers. For this reason, the purpose of this article is to review self-regulated learning in online-based teacher education and training programs with key questions- how important is self-regulated learning in online-based teacher education and training programs? and how to facilitate the development of self-regulated learning in online-based teacher education and training programs? To answer this, we conducted a literature study of various books and previous research articles, so that the results were complete, both conceptually and empirically. As a result, self-regulated learning has become an important and strategic aspect for the success of any learner or online learning program, including online-based teacher education and training programs. For this reason, every designer, organizer and instructor need to facilitate the development of participants selfregulated learning aspects through their online learning platforms. Although it cannot be assumed that they will automatically and effectively develop their self-regulated learning skills, through deliberate design and facilitation efforts, they need to create and sustain the development of self-regulated learning skills of e-learners through rich learning experiences. Positive self-regulated learning tends to encourage the success of the online-based teacher education and training programs because teachers will give their best efforts to complete their online learning and have the potential to achieve the best results.
