Abstract

This study has an objective to identify the development and policies of educational technology application in ASEAN countries. Through the literature review and analysis, this recent study has compared the issue of educational technology development and policies in ASEAN countries. The reviewing country has been chosen based on the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) index amongst the ASEAN countries, that are Singapore (as the highest rank), Thailand & Indonesia (as the middle rank), and Myanmar (as the lowest rank). The result of the study shows that the majority of the countries focused to improve network capabilities in supporting online learning, and the policies of each country showed a similarity in improving the technology equity for the learner. However, Singapore shows more advance technological implementation such as the application of broader Artificial Intelligence in classroom activity, while the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Thailand and Indonesia still in developing progress. In conclusion, the technology education development in ASEAN countries has moved forward through the past year and the policies of educational technology for each country have been similar in strengthening the ASEAN plan.

Abstract

This study is identifying elementary schools teacher attitudes towards video conferencing platform implementation during Covid-19 pandemic. The research aims include (1) to identify teachers’ attitude towards implementing video conferencing platforms for learning (2) to identify teachers' challenges encountered during implementing video conferencing and how to overcome that challenge. The 103 elementary schools teachers were included. The teacher selected by simple random sampling techniques. The questionnaire's content is based on teachers' attitudes toward using video conferencing in the classroom during the COVID-19 epidemic, as measured by the following indicators: efficiency, effectiveness, motivation, and variety of obstacles. The elementary schools teachers’ attitude shows positive responses to video conferencing in learning such as providing various learning activities, providing flexibility in teaching process, easiness to access learning materials, and ease in assessing and monitoring students' learning progress. Furthermore, the result reveals the majority of the elementary schools teachers faced technical issues and availability as obstacles in implementing a video conferencing platform. The majority of elementary schools teachers were able to resolve these technological difficulties by exploring other teaching strategies and seeking professional advice.

Abstract

This study aims to determine differences in early childhood independence based on the mother's employment status in MDA Kampung Durian, Medan Perjuangan District. The method used in this study is a qualitative method using descriptive qualitative data analysis, namely data collected in the form of words, pictures and not numbers. The data used in this research is primary data. Namely data obtained directly from the field. In this study, primary data was obtained by observation and interviews. The results of this study are that children whose mothers work have a high level of independence compared to children whose mothers do not work and the status of mothers who work or not can also be a factor of a child's independence.

Abstract

Merdeka Curriculum or in Indonesian Language known as Kurikulum Merdeka is widely considered as the most popular curriculum applied in many educational institutions in Indonesia. In the context of elementary school, Merdeka curriculum places English Language as an optional subject offered to students. In fact, nowadays students as the future generation live in the digitized and network based community where English plays a critical role to help them adapt to the rapid change of technology and science. Consequently, it is crucial to study this government policy in the Merdeka curriculum on the English language subject for elementary students. This study aims to analyze the government policy on placing the English language as an optional subject in elementary school using the theory of language development and the role of English as lingua franca in the 21st century. This study applies a library research method and data are collected from published and unpublished scientific articles, analytical journals, government reports and national scale newspapers that are relevant to the aims of the study.Keywords: Merdeka Curriculum, English Languange, Elementary School

Abstract

This study aims to explain the role of farmer groups in increasing the income of the people of Jumateguh Village, Banturaja District. The qualitative approach using descriptive methods and data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation. The results shows there are three roles of farmer groups in the Jumateguh village community, namely as a forum for discussion for group members in solving a problem by finding solutions together through discussion forums, secondly as a forum for information for group members in obtaining information from extension agents regarding how to  choosing good/superior plant seeds, as well as handling pests and diseases that attack plants, and the third as a production unit, namely providing production facilities and infrastructure such as tanks for spraying pesticides and insecticides on plants and tripe machines to clean grass that disturbs plants.

Abstract

The method used in this study is a qualitative method using descriptive qualitative data analysis, namely data collected in the form of words, pictures and not numbers. The data used in this research is primary data. Namely data obtained directly from the field. In this study, primary data was obtained by observation and interviews. The results of this study shows that the student who has employer mothers have a high level of independence compared to student whose mothers do not work and the status of mothers who work or not can also be a factor of a child's independence.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out the parenting style adopted by 2 career women in forming the independence of their children, Mrs. D with 33 and Mrs. I with 27 in Pinanggripan Village. The type of research is qualitative research using the case study approach. The subject of study was determined through the purposive sampling technique. The data were collected through the interview techniques by using interview form. The results of the study shown that the two informants used typical democratic parenting. Consequently, the children show a good attitude shifting in which children are more independent. In addition, the form of independence can be seen from seven indicators, including: 1. physical ability, 2. self-confidence, 3. responsibility, 4. discipline, 5. good at getting along, 6. sharing, 7. being able to control the emotions. The result shows the child has good independent personality.

Abstract

Sei Buluh Village consists of 10 hamlets with a population of 11,454 people (5,801 men and 5,653 women). Residential area 600 Ha, moorland 60 Ha. Around 82 percent of the land in Sei Buluh Village is designated as rice fields and fields. It can be concluded that the superior potential possessed by Sei Buluh Village is agriculture. In this case, problems were found in the utilization of agricultural and plantation products, while education and economic levels were still low. The solution to partner problems is to empower housewives by reviving home industries through processing spice plants. The impact is expected to be an increase in family income. This effort is also carried out for inheritance and economic improvement through empowering women, especially housewives. This is to achieve equal development that upholds the honor and dignity of a just nation. Methods for implementing activities include planning, organization, actualization and supervision. The implementation stages are: (1) survey and analysis of target groups by conducting site inspections; (2) identifying program needs by refining the concepts that have been formulated; (3) preparation of facilities and infrastructure; (4) implementing the program by providing socialization and practice of making traditional drinks; (5) evaluation. The results of the activity provide increased knowledge for housewives as target partners, regarding the use of agricultural products as traditional spice drinks, including digital technology-based packaging and marketing techniques.

Abstract

Gadget is a term in English, which is an electronic device that has a special purpose and function to download the latest information, various technologies and the latest features so as to make human life more practical. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of gadget exposure on speech delay in children under five years old. This study is a qualitative descriptive analysis research. This descriptive research aims to describe a situation or phenomena as it is. This research was conducted in Tanjung Gusta Village. The subject of this research is the parents of toddlers who experience speech delay. Data collection techniques used in the study were observation and interviews. The results of observations and interviews show that children who intensely use gadgets (experimental group) have limited verbal communication skills compared to children who minimally use gadgets (control group). Children in the experimental group tended to have delayed speech, difficulty articulating words clearly and limited age-appropriate vocabulary. They also showed difficulty in understanding and following simple commands.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to determine the type of career parenting and its impact on the development of children's personalities. The descriptive phenomology method is used in this study. The study was conducted out in Sibolga City, Hutabarangan Village, and Sibolga Julu. Three youngsters aged 12 to 14 years old, as well as their parents, participated in the study. Unstructured interviews and observations are used to acquire data. The data analysis method employed is qualitative descriptive data analysis. According to the findings of this study, the parenting style of career parents has a substantial impact on the personalities of their children. A qualitative investigation of three parents who worked as small merchants, restaurant employees, and factory workers revealed disparities in parenting approaches, namely democratic and permissive. In this instance, it is critical for working parents with limited time to find methods to be actively involved in their children's life. For example, regular communication, listening to children's feelings, and spending quality time together can all help.
