Abstract

Research has been carried out that aims (i) to design a feeding system and water pH regulation in catfish farming automatically, (ii) to assemble and build a control circuit with existing electronic components and sensors, (iii) to apply the IoT system to pH controller made to be controlled remotely. The tool is designed to control the pH of the water by means of circulation and for measuring the pH of the water in the catfish pond, it is carried out periodically using a pH sensor of type PH4502C. The system uses the RTC DS1307 digital clock module to determine the feeding schedule. Smartphone communication with control circuits uses internet media for data transfer and commands. Regulates feeding in catfish ponds and integrates with smartphones. The design of the feeding system and pH regulation in catfish farming automatically, the tool can provide feed and regulate the pH of the water automatically according to a schedule that has been set with the program that has been made. The circuit is assembled and built into the chassis by installing all electronic components and sensors on the PCB. Such as the process of automation of feeding using a servo motor, to measure the pH of the water using a pH sensor and setting the pH of the water using a water pump. By using the RTC as a digital clock to provide time information on the microcontroller so that the program can run according to what has been made. The application of the IoT system to the pH controller and feeding device that is made is controlled remotely. This tool is able to send information and commands from two directions using an adapter device from Wifi, namely the MCU Node. The MCU node is set to be related to the Wifi hotspot and connectivity with the Blynk server on the smartphone. Menu settings are made according to the required display, namely the pH display, buttons to activate and deactivate the water pump, feeding, and notifications if there is a change in the pH of the water or if the pH of the water is unstable

Abstract

Research of polymer concrete had been made by using sand, pumice, coffee shell fiber and polyester resin. Research had been done in order to get the best combination. Then, it has pressd by using Hot Press at temperature of 90°C for 30 minutes. The properties of polymer concrete has been analyzed that physical properties such as density, porosity, water absorbtion, mechanical properties, bending strength, compressive strength, tensile strength and photograph analysis by SEM-EDX. The result of research showed that the best combination based on test was sand 60 g, pumice, coffee shell fibe, and polyester resin with ratio of (8:2:30) gr that density 1,62 g/cm3; porosity 1.70%; water absorbtion 1.04%; bending strength 7.40 MPa; compressive strength 10.92 MPa; and tensile strength 4.13 MPa. Keywords: Coffee shell fiber, polymer concrete, pumice, and sand.

Abstract

A study has been conducted on the effect of palm oil trunk powder as fillers in the making of gypsum ceiling sheets for physical, mechanical, and DTA properties. The type of adhesive used is a polyurethane binder. Palm oil trunk powder is varied in 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 g. The results showed that the physical properties (density of 1.6 g/cm3 and water absorbency of 15.08%) in the composition of 5 grams of palm oil trunk powder were the best results. The higher the powder level the higher the density value but the lower the water absorbency. The results of the physical properties test still meet the standards of SNI 03-2105 1996 and are still above the physical properties of the Jaya Board gypsum ceiling. The results of mechanical test (impact test 2.0 x 10-4 J/mm2, tensile test 305.8 kPa, flexural strength test/MOE 7233.8 kg/cm2, and fracture strength test/MOR 13.44 MPa) were the best results and at composition of 25:25:15. This composition is the most homogeneous composition so that its mechanical properties are optimum. Keywords: ceiling sheets, palm oil trunk powder, and polyurethane.

Abstract

Research has been conducted on the preparation and characterization of polymer concrete with certain compositions of sand, pumice, coffee husk fiber, and epoxy resin to get the best mixing composition. All compositions were processed using a hot press machine at a temperature of 90 °C for 20 minutes. The results showed that polymer concrete with optimum characteristics is produced in the mixing composition of sand, pumice, coffee husk fiber, and epoxy resin of 60:14:6:20 g. In this condition, the density is 1.21 g/cm3, porosity is 8.3%, water absorption is 6.81%, flexural strength is 28.68 MPa, compressive strength is 7.67 MPa, and tensile strength is 3.98 MPa. SEM/EDS analysis shows that the addition of epoxy resin can improve the quality of polymer concrete. Keywords: Coffee husk fiber, epoxy resin, polymer concrete, and pumice.

Abstract

Polymer composite tile based on boiler ash waste from palm oil industry (ABKS) and fiber from waste tire reinforced by asphalt have been prepared through compression molding techniques. The raw materials consist of sand, ABKS, recycled tire fibers, asphalt, and epoxy resin with variation of ABKS and recycled tire fibers composition by 20%:0%, 18%:2%, 16%:4%, 14%:6%, 12%:8%, and 10%:10%. The characterization performed includes: physical properties (density and water absorption), mechanical properties (compressive strength, impact strength, and flexural strength), and thermal properties (DTA, Differential Thermal Analysis). The test results showed that sample with the optimum composition of sand, ABKS, recycled tire fibers, asphalt, and epoxy resin of 55%: 12%: 8%: 10%: 15% had the highest density value of 1.64 grams/cm3, water absorption of 1.72%, impact test value of 77.68 kJ/m2, bending strength value of 19.373 MPa, and DTA temperature of 360 ºC. Abstract

This research was conducted for 2 weeks in October at SMAN 11 Medan. This type of research is classroom action research. Before the action is taken first, the initial test is given. From the results of the initial test, the average student achievement was 20.62 with a classical completeness level of 0%. After giving action I to creative thinking tests the level of student study in classical is 15%, with an average grade achievement of 33.75. To test student learning outcomes the level of completeness obtained by students is 17.5%, with an average grade achievement of 26.42. After the implementation of action II for creative thinking tests the level of student study learning in classical is 85%, with an average achievement of 72.85 classes. To test student learning outcomes the level of completeness obtained by students is 90%, with an average grade achievement of 77.17. From this there is an increase in the level of classical completeness by 70% for students 'creative thinking and 72.5% for students' mathematics learning outcomes. Abstract

Lighting is part of the main factor in a building design, because it affects the activities of user in the room. The purpose of this study is knowing the level of illumination level in the classroom of the Faculty of Science and Technology, UIN North Sumatra. The study was conducted by measuring the level of natural lighting, mixed lighting levels and optimization of mixed lighting levels in classrooms 306 and 308 with reference to SNI 6197-2011 which is 350 lux. Size of classroom 306 length 8.70 m, width 8 m, height 2.80 m, while classroom 308 length 8.40 m, width 8.12 m, height 2.80 m. The natural lighting source comes from the sun (window openings), while the mixed lighting source comes from the sun (window openings) plus 36 Watt TL lamps. The measurement of lighting levels is carried out using the GM1040C luxmeter measuring instrument with 25 measurement points in accordance with the SNI 7062-2019. The measurement results for natural lighting levels, namely 161.38 lux and 206.9 lux, are not in accordance with the lighting standard, which is 350 lux, while for mixed lighting, namely 720 lux and 975 lux and optimization of mixed lighting, namely 406.68 lux, 405.72 lux and 479.28 lux and 472.44 lux are in accordance with the lighting standard of 350 lux.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh treatment akustik terhadap kenyamanan pada ruang Masjid dengan menggunakan pelepah pisang (α = 0,71). Kemudian menempatkan sampel pelepah pisang berukuran 25 x 25 x 2 cm pada dinding Masjid untuk mengukur tingkat tekanan bunyi dan waktu dengung menggunakan alat ukur sound level meter. Nilai tingkat tekanan bunyi turun dari 71,2 dB menjadi 55 dB, nilai waktu dengung dengan menggunakan metode sabine dan percobaan berturut-turut turun dari 1,89 s menjadi 1,5 s dan dari 1,78 s menjadi 1,56 s. Pelepah pisang memiliki pengaruh yang baik untuk dijadikan  bahan treatment akustik ruang karena memiliki daya serap dan daya simpan yang baik dalam kondisi kering.

Abstract

Meningkatnya jumlah penduduk dan sarana transportasi dalam aktivitas mobilitas dapat menimbulkan dampak kebisingan. Kebisingan adalah sumber bising paling utama. Kebisingan pada sekarang terutama di perkotaan memiliki dampak kebisingan yang tidak disadari dapat menimbulkan dampak buruk bagi kesehatan dan kenyamanan lingkungan. Telah dilakukan penelitian tingkat kebisingan di Jalan Halat Kota Medan. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui tingkat kebisingan, pola sebaran kebisingan, dan penerapan barrier buatan. Metode pengukuran yang digunakan mengacu pada Surat Keputusan Menteri Lingkungan Hidup No.48/MENLH/11/1996. Alat yang digunakan untuk pengukuran kebisingan adalah Sound Level Meter tipe TL 200. Untuk pemetaan dengan menggunakan Software Surfer Golden Versi 20. Penelitian ini memiliki 32 titik yang terdiri dari 8 titik pada pembatas jalan dan 24 titik pada pemukiman penduduk. Untuk mereduksi kebisingan menggunakan barrier buatan dari bahan triplek. Dari hasil penelitian, diperoleh tingkat kebisingan tertinggi sebesar 76,2 dBA dan tingkat kebisingan terendah sebesar 59,5 dBA. Jalan Halat Kota Medan memiliki nilai kebisingan yang melebihi standar baku mutu 55 dBA.
