Abstract

This study has the purpose of testing the effectiveness of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on the problem-solving ability of two-dimensional figures. This study applied experimental research with a pre-test – post-test control design model. The population of this study was all of the fourth-grade students of SDN in Batangpretepurposive sampling. The sample of this study was the fourth-grade students of SDN Karangtengah 01 and the fourth-grade students of SDN Kemiri 06. The instrument of data collection used was an essay test. The analysis technique used for analyzing the data was a statistical test of paired sample t-test. The results of this study indicated that the PBL model has effectively improved the students' problem-solving abilities. This is indicated by (1) The classical completeness of problem solving abilities of students in the experimental class using PBL models which reached up to 75%, (2) The average of problem-solving abilities of students in the experimental class with PBL models was more than the average of problem-solving ability of students in the control class using the expository learning models, sig α = 5%, with sig. (2-tailed) of 0.018 since 0.018 < 0.05. therefore, the result is significant, (3) the results of the increase in problem solving ability of the experimental class students using PBL models was indicated by the result of pre-test with the percentage of learning completeness of 51%. whereas, the rest of 49% students did not complete the achievement, then the result of post-test with the result of learning completeness at 80% and the rest of 20% students did not complete, sig α = 5%, with sig. (2-tailed) obtained a score of 0.000 < 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that the PBL model is effective on problem-solving abilities of students in the fourth-grade elementary school at two dimension figures material.

Abstract

Based on observations at Josari 01 Elementary School in Tersono District, children's creativity in drawing is still low, because so far, whenever there is a drawing learning activity, children are reluctant to be invited to do activities related to children's fine motor skills. But prefer to choose to play with gadgets and friends than doing activities that are done individually. Therefore this community service aims to improve the creative ability to draw elementary school children in Tersono District, Batang Regency and its surroundings which we focus on children's drawing creativity. The method used is through workshops and drawing assistance for elementary school students in Tersono District, Batang Regency and its surroundings. This community service activity is divided into three sessions, namely the first session provides knowledge about the history of drawing including understanding, history, and types of drawings. The second session was a drawing competition session carried out by all participants. Furthermore, the last session was an assessment session to determine 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. The community service program that had been carried out by the STKIP Muhammadiyah Batang Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program had been carried out well and received positive impressions from all participants who took part.

Abstract

Speech acts have an important role in the learning process. One of them is expressive speech acts because they contain psychological expressions from the teacher. Expressive speech acts uttered by the teacher are able to shape student character and motivate students. The purpose of this study is to describe expressive speech acts used by teachers in the Indonesian language learning process in class IV SD Negeri 2 Tegalombo, Tersono District, Batang Regency. In this study using qualitative research with descriptive research type. The results showed that there were 5 types of expressive utterances with a total of 32 utterances. This shows that the expressive speech acts used by the teacher in the learning process are still minimal so that the interactions that occur need to be increased so that they can build a school culture and can be implemented properly.
