Abstract

Woven crafts made by women at the Sajingan Besar frontier, besides that it also has economic value, historical value, cultural values that show the identity of the population at the national boundary. The aims of the study were to describe the role of weavers’ women in strengthening nationalism, woven is a culture that is typical of the society in Sajingan Besar frontier, Sambas District. There are two data used in this paper, i.e primary data is field studies, and secondary data is literature studies. The result of research shown that there is an important role from weavers’ women in Sajingan Besar, namely: (1) Utilization of Natural Resources is to strengthen nationalism by utilizing the availability of natural resources in managing them into woven crafts which are a form of expansion of nationalism because woven crafts are a cultural heritage and has local characteristics of Sajingan Besar, (2) The Role of weavers’ women in Sajingan Besar is able to realize a harmonious life with the Malaysian community to strengthen nationalism has become a role model on the frontier whose territory is inhabited by a variety of different tribes, religions and cultures but unity is maintained.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ingin menganalisa penyebab terjadinya perdagangan gula ilegal antara Indonesia dan Malaysia di wilayah perbatasan Entikong  Indonesia dan  Malaysia. Jumlah produksi gula di Indonesia yang tidak sebanding dengan jumlah kebutuhan masyarakat menimbulkan terjadinya aktivitas impor gula dari negara Malaysia. Aktivitas impor dalam jangka panjang mengakibatkan negara Indonesia mengalami kerugian dan membuka peluang terjadinya perdagangan gula ilegal. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif, teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dengan menggunakan library research dan wawancara. Library research dilakukan dengan mengambil data dari buku, jurnal, koran dan laporan dari instansi terkait,  sedangkan wawancara dilakukan dengan mewawancarai informan yang mengetahui dan menangan kasus gula ilegal di perbatasan Entikong Indonesia Dan  Malaysia. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian perdagangan ilegal terjadi dikarenakan: 1) penyalahgunaan legislasi Border Trade Agreement  (BTA) dengan tujuan mencari keuntungan sebesar-besarnya; 2) harga gula Malaysia lebih murah dibandingkan dengan harga gula Indonesia sehingga terjadi disparasi.

Abstract

The current state of Indonesia’s border areas is very worrying. This can be seen from the ongoing issues of illegal trade, smuggling, the dominance of the Ringgit currency, shifting of boundary markers, and the presence of illegal migrant workers. These things become indicators of the nationalism crisis in the country’s border areas, which is a study of human security. This study aims to implement a soft power model to strengthen human security at the Temajuk border. This study uses a mix-method by collecting qualitative and quantitative data. Qualitative is done by interview, observation, and literature study. While quantitative is done by distributing questionnaires that are carried out in the period from May 2021 to November 2021. The research subjects were 14 people of Temajuk Village. The study results found that the soft power model to strengthen human security at the Temajuk border, which has been analyzed, shows that there are stages to be passed. First, the investigation stage is carried out by investigating the potential for soft power at the Temajuk border. Second is the soft power model’s design and construction stage to strengthen human security at the Temajuk border. Third, the step of testing, evaluating, and revising the soft power model to enhance human security at the Temajuk Border consists of a pre-test and post-test. Implementing the soft power model in strengthening human security in the Temajuk border area is essential to effectively protect people who are vulnerable to human security threats.
