Abstract

Occupational safety and health contain the value of protecting workers from accidents or occupational diseases. Personal protective equipment is important to protect workers from injuries or illnesses caused by exposure to hazards in the workplace. PT. Martadinata Indah Tambang is a company that produces stone, gravel, crushed stone, and sand, located in Alindau Village, Sindue Tobata District, Donggala Regency with 89 workers and most of them have primary school education (48%). The work fields consist of sand production, gravel production, drivers, stone breaking, welding, heavy equipment, electricity, mechanics, checkers, drivers, logistics, and security. Workers in the production department were at risk of work accidents as they interacted directly with equipment and materials and were exposed to a work environment that had the potential to pose the risk of accidents and occupational diseases. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between education and knowledge with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). This was an observational study with a cross-sectional design. The population size is 89 workers, and 47 workers as sampled by accidental sampling. As the results, using Chi-square for the statistical test, there was a significant relationship between the level of education and the use of personal protective equipment (p-value = 0,015), and also there was a significant relationship between knowledge and the use of personal protective equipment (p-value=0,003). The company should control the risk of hazards to avoid possible occupational diseases and work accidents.

Abstract

WHO telah resmi menetapkan Covid-19 sebagai pandemik. Pemerintah Indonesia telah menetapkan Covid-19 sebagai bencana non alam berupa wabah penyakit yang perlu ditanggulangi secara  sistematis  dengan berbagai  cara. Covid-19 yang telah mewabah di seluruh dunia, membuat masyarakat merasa khawatir. Beberapa cara yang dapat dilakukan untuk mencegah agar terhindar dari virus Covid-19 diantaranya adalah dengan menjaga jarak dengan orang lain, menghindari kerumunan, menjaga dan meningkatkan daya tahan tubuh, selalu menjaga kebersihan diri dan lingkungan sekitar serta melakukan penyemprotan disinfektan di rumah, lingkungan sekitar serta tempat umum. Sebagai bentuk keperdulian kepada masyarakat, Dosen Jurusan Kesehatan Lingkungan Program Studi Sanitasi Poltekkes Kemenkes Palu melakukan gerakan penyemprotan disinfektan pada beberapa tempat di Desa Toraranga Selatan Kecamatan Toribulu Kabupaten Parigi Moutong, untuk mencegah penyebaran Covid-19.

Abstract

The preparation of individual equipment in reproductive health mitigation during disasters is not known by the community. The people of Sibalaya Village have never received education on reproductive health mitigation kits during disasters. The purpose of community service is to prepare the community in reproductive health mitigation during disasters in Sibalaya Village, Tanambulawa Sub-district, Sigi, Central Sulawesi. The service method is health education and demonstration on reproductive health mitigation kits. The service was carried out in North and South Sibalaya Villages, Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi, from October 19 to October 24, 2022. The target audience are pregnant women, mothers with toddlers, adolescent girls, and couples of reproductive age, with a total of 38 participants. The education media used a PowerPoint presentation with an LCD projector. Evaluation was conducted through pre and post-tests using a questionnaire. The service results showed that 100% of participants knew about the risk groups during disasters, >70% knew about the color of the kit, 92.11% knew about the contents of the kit, and 97.37% knew about the availability of transportation during referrals. The post-test was conducted by asking participants directly, and those who answered correctly were given a reproductive health mitigation kit as a prize. Two participants were able to demonstrate the use of the mitigation kit. The conclusion of the service is that there is an increase in knowledge, and participants can demonstrate the use of reproductive health mitigation kits. It is recommended to form a village reproductive health mitigation team and provide training.
