Abstract

Indonesia pernah tercatat sebagai salah satu negara yang melanggar hak kekayaan intelektual yang parah tinggi di dunia. Tahun 2010 berdasarkan survei yang dilakukan oleh Political and Economic Risk Consultancy (PERC), Indonesia adalah pelanggar hak atas kekayaan intelektual terburuk di Asia, berada pada angka 8,5 dari angka maksimum 10 untuk kawasan Asia. Dalam ujian proposal atau ujian tesis di magister Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris FKIP Universitas Mataram pun sering ditemukan indikasi plagiarisme. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilakukan melalui sosialisasi, evaluasi dan pendampingan lanjutan. Khalayak strategis kegiatan ini ialah guru-guru Bahasa Inggris di Lombok yang berstatus mahasiswa Magister Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris FKIP Universitas Mataram. Mitra dan sekaligus coordinator ialah Kepala SMK Taruna Bangsa Sakra Barat dan Mewakili Dinas Dikbud Lombok Timur. Kegiatan ini menghasilkan luaran: 1) Pemahaman dan wawasan yang lebih luas mengenai apa, bagaimana, dampak, dan solusi bagi praktek plagiarisme, 2) Artikel hasil pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang akan dipublikasikan pada JPPM FKIP Universitas Mataram ber-ISSN atau jurnal lain dan dikumpulkan paling lambat 1 tahun setelah kontrak berakhir. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan ini berjalan dengan sangat lancar dan mendapat respon yang sangat tinggi dari khalayak sasaran, walau dilaksanakan secara hybrid. Ada keinginan yang kuat dari peserta untuk terus melanjutkan kegiatan, termasuk belajar Turnitin.

Abstract

By applying qualitative approach, this research is aimed at analyzing and describing the planning, processes and evaluation of the implementation of authentic assessment which is carried out comprehensively regarding the whole activity of learning, including the processes and products of the study so that the students’ activities get appraisal. The authentic assessment demands that the students participate in the real and concrete situation and meaningful. The results of the analysis of the data indicate that the literary subjects, that is the topic of this study, are not yet delivered coherently with the aspects and principles of authentic assessment. It is found that most of the literary subjects are presented and evaluated without being made in line with the scientific and systematic study about the nature and application of authentic assessment. Furthermore, with focus on the studies to all aspects of the implementation of authentic assessment on learning literary subjects, the results of this study contribute to the development of science and theory that are applicable to the teaching and learning of literary subjects. In other words, there is a substantial need to apply the concepts and scientific principles of the implementation of authentic assessment in the teaching and learning of all literary subjects with full consideration being given on the appropriate and comprehensive lesson plan.

Abstract

English vocabulary is crucial for students' language proficiency in reading, speaking, listening, and writing. To increase vocabulary, teachers can use effective techniques, such as incorporating English songs into the curriculum. This research aims to assess the impact of using songs for vocabulary instruction on 40 students from SMK Negeri 2 Gerung. They were split into an experimental class (X-TEI) exposed to English songs and a control class (X-TOI) using flashcards.After the treatment, post-test scores showed significant differences between the two classes. The experimental class scored 80.25, while the control class scored 66.75. Data analysis in SPSS demonstrated a substantial difference in vocabulary mastery (sig 2-tailed < 0.05) between the two groups. Hypothesis testing confirmed the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (Ha) and rejection of the Null Hypothesis (Ho). In conclusion, incorporating English songs effectively improved students' vocabulary mastery in class X at SMK Negeri 2 Gerung during the academic year 2022-2023.

Abstract

Movie is included in drama as a form of literature. The story is told in the dialogue, the forms of film and drama were identical. In addition, the objective of this study was to examine the conflicts encountered by the main character and to analyze the impacts of these conflicts in the Whiplash movie by Damien Chazelle. The research was supported by Kenney and Aruna's conflict theory. The research used a qualitative approach. The data extracted from the Whiplash movie, including dialogues, sentences, words, and phrases. It was found that there were two types of conflicts experienced by the main character in the Whiplash Movie: internal and external conflicts. Moreover, the study revealed two consequences resulting from these conflicts, both positive and negative impacts were observed. For instance, averts further serious conflict, results in personal communal change, brings two or more parties, always in state of tension, feelings of resentment and hatred escalate, and other relationships also are affected. Furthermore, the study identified psychological and sociological impacts arising from the conflicts faced by the main character, including experiences of trauma, anxiety, and depression. Meanwhile, the sociological conflicts encompassed clashes between individual and authority, as well as issues of competition and collaboration.
