Abstract

Cellulose is a biopolymer that is widely applied in various fields. Modification of cellulose is needed to increase the added value of cellulose. One of these cellulose derivatives is cellulose succinate. This study aims to synthesize succinic cellulose using succinic acid. This research covers the synthesis of cellulose succinate via esterification reaction with a variation of succinic acid (1.6%; 2.4%; 3.2% and 4.0%), DS determination by titration method, and characterization with FTIR. Based on the synthesis results, the optimum DS was obtained at 2.4% succinic acid (SS3) concentration, namely 0.692. The results of the characterization with FTIR also showed the presence of a C=O absorption band indicating the presence of cellulose succinate monoester.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to explain the dynamics of educational problems at SMA Negeri 1 Modoinding. The method used in this research is a qualitative research method. Data collection methods include observation, interviews, and documentation. The observation sheet was used as a research instrument. The research findings reveal that in conclusion, as we already know, there are still many students who experience difficulties such as student delinquency such as promiscuity, truancy during class hours, and Lack of Learning Facilities, one of which is at SMA Negeri 1 Modoinding. This can happen due to factors outside the school, such as incomplete families which have an impact on students' education, or because teachers do not educate children enough, making students feel free to do bad things at school. To overcome this problem, efforts need to be made to improve teacher quality, curriculum flexibility and the availability of educational facilities. Diverse teaching approaches, as well as a more holistic approach to student evaluation, must be addressed. Schools and the government must also focus more on career orientation and preparing students for the world of work or college

Abstract

Research has been carried out on the effect of potassium hydroxide catalyst concentration on the yield of coconut oil (Cocos nucifera) transesterification and continued to characterize the reaction results. The concentration of potassium hydroxide used was 1, 2, and 3% by weight of coconut oil with ethanol as the reactant. The data processing used was the one-way analysis of variation and its characterization from a physicochemical perspective, followed by the analysis of gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy (GCSM) and infrared spectrophotometry. Based on the data processing results, potassium hydroxide concentrations of 1, 2, and 3% did not affect the yield of the transesterification reaction of coconut oil, and the results were 74.5264%, 71.9330%, and 69.0420%. The characterization results show that the physicochemical properties of the reaction products, such as acid number, density, and viscosity, comply with the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) for biodiesel. The results of the GCMS analysis showed that nine peaks were dominated by ethyl laurate.

Abstract

Pendidikan merupakan aspek universalitas yang harus ada dalam perikehidupan umat manusia. Perkembangan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi telah merambah pada bidang pendidikan dan pengajaran, hal ini menuntut para pendidik untuk lebih meningkatkan kemampuannya seperti cara mengajar, materi ajar yang disajikan dan lainnya. Media pembelajaran merupakan perantara dalam menyampaikan suatu pesan yang didesain sehingga tujuan pembelajaran bisa dicapai. Penggunaan dari media pembelajaran sangat penting diterapkan, supaya pembelajaran tidak monoton dan dapat menarik perhatian peserta didik. Namun, hampir semua dosen muda UNIMA memiliki kemampuan dalam pembuatan media pembelajaran masih minim sehingga berdampak pada sulitnya peserta didik memahami proses pembelajaran. Kegiatan ini bertujuan memberi pelatihan dalam pembuatan media pembelajaran berbasis android yang dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan dosen-dosen muda UNIMA dalam hal pembuatan media pembelajaran berbasis android. Pelatihan ini diharapkan dapat memberikan dampak positif dalam pengembangan pendidikan di UNIMA. Metode pelaksanaan dari pengabdian ini diawali dengan persiapan dan pelaksanaan. Hasil dari pengabdian yang dilakukan menunjukkan bahwa dosen muda di UNIMA memiliki antusias yang cukup besar dalam mempelajari dan mengembangkan media pembelajaran, ini dapat dilihat dari antusiasnya peserta pelatihan dalam mengikuti kegiatan ini.

Abstract

Di era digital yang ditandai dengan kemajuan teknologi informasi, pemanfaatan laboratorium virtual menjadi penting dalam meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan sains. Dalam konteks digital ini, laboratorium virtual mempunyai kemampuan untuk menggantikan peran laboratorium nyata dalam menguji teori, hukum, dan konsep ilmiah. Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi berbagai platform laboratorium virtual yang dapat diterapkan pada pendidikan sains. PhET, Chemcollective, dan OLabs adalah platform yang dianalisis dalam artikel ini. Setiap platform memiliki kekuatan dan keterbatasannya masing-masing. Informasi yang diberikan diharapkan dapat menjadi panduan bagi guru dalam memilih platform laboratorium virtual yang selaras dengan tujuan pendidikan sains yang dimaksudkan.

Abstract

The principle of bioplastic film formation is based on hydrogen bonds between the constituent molecules of bioplastics. The addition of carboxylic groups to cellulose molecules into cellulose succinate (CS) can increase bond regularity so that it has an impact on the mechanical properties of bioplastics. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of CS concentration on tensile strength and elongation of bioplastics. The stages of this research are the synthesis of bioplastics by mixing method and variation of CS concentration, characterization of bioplastics to determine the effect of CS concentration on the mechanical properties of bioplastics, analysis of functional groups with FTIR and bond regularity with XRD. The results obtained in this study are CS concentration affects the characteristics of bioplastics. The best bioplastic was found at 3.2% CS concentration with a tensile strength value of 10.48 MPa and elongation of 4.38%. The peaks that appear on FTIR analysis are typical groups on cellulose, namely O-H, C-H and C-O. CS bioplastics also consist of amorphous and crystalline phases.

Abstract

Cationic dyes are dyes containing amine derivatives that can be used on cellulose, protein, nylon, acrylic and synthetic fibers but these dyes are less fast in coloring. This study investigates the impact of Pb2+ heavy metal ions on cationic dye absorption utilizing molecularly imprinted polymers as adsorbents. Concentrations of Pb2+ ranging from 0 to 50 mg/L were examined. In a one-hour interaction, 50 mg of adsorbent was introduced into a solution containing 100 ppm methylene blue dye and Pb2+ with varying concentrations. Following centrifugation, the filtrate was collected, and dye concentration was measured using a visible light spectrophotometer. The sorption capacity of the dye with Pb2+ reached 41.22 mg/g at the highest concentration and 35.83 mg/g at the lowest. Notably, an inverse relationship was observed between Pb2+ concentration and absorption capacity, indicating a decrease as metal ion concentration increased, though stability was maintained. These findings contribute valuable insights into the nuanced dynamics of heavy metal ions and cationic dye absorption, shedding light on potential applications of molecularly imprinted polymers as effective adsorbents.

Abstract

Artikel ini membahas implementasi perkumpulan Arisan Pakintaki sebagai media komunikasi dan ruang pengembangan karir bagi dosen muda di Universitas Negeri Manado (UNIMA), khususnya yang berasal dari Sulawesi Selatan. Perkumpulan ini tidak hanya menyediakan platform interaktif untuk pertukaran ide dan pengetahuan antar dosen muda, tetapi juga memberikan pelatihan keterampilan dan mendukung pengembangan karir mereka. Melalui diskusi berbagai topik seputar dunia akademik, kolaborasi dan dukungan antaranggota, Arisan Pakintaki membantu dosen muda UNIMA memperluas jaringan profesional, merencanakan langkah-langkah pengembangan karir, dan meningkatkan produktivitas penelitian serta kontribusi dalam pengabdian kepada masyarakat. Perkumpulan ini memainkan peran vital dalam membentuk komunitas akademik yang solid dan mendukung pencapaian visi dan misi UNIMA dalam mencetak dosen berkualitas yang siap bersaing di tingkat nasional dan internasional.
