Abstract

Mathematical communication ability is an important ability that the students must possess. In this study, learning assisted with Macromedia flash MX was used to increase students’ mathematical communication ability. Aside from the use of software, the role of supporting tools in learning was also investigated. Subjects were 65 Vocational Schools (SMK) students divided into 32 students in control class (learning assisted with Macromedia flash MX) and 33 students in the experimental class (learning assisted with Macromedia flash MX and additional supporting tools, MFMX+). Mathematical communication ability was evaluated through written test. Results showed an increase in mathematical communication ability both in the control and experimental class, albeit to a different degree. Students in MFMX+ class showed a higher mathematical communication ability improvement compared to students in control class. Learning assisted with Macromedia flash MX improved mathematical communication ability and supporting tools maximize benefits that can be gained from the use of Macromedia flash MX.

Abstract

The objective of the study was to develop a college student worksheet using Edmodo as a learning support tool and to know the effectiveness of peer tutor learning model applied in the learning of economic mathematics on motivation and attitude. Research used for quantitative approach and quasi-experiment method to collect data applying test and questionnaire. The sample in the study is a second-year student enrolled in a college in Serang - Banten. The sample comes from two classes. One class was used for the control group of 29 students; one for the exploratory group of 40 students. In the control group, students were taught only in a personal learning environment using peer tutor models whereas experimental groups studied through peer tutor models in the classroom were supported by student worksheet learning using Edmodo. The findings show that college student worksheet's use is better than traditional learning. That is, students in the experimental group not only outperformed them in the control group in the learning outcomes, but they also showed a higher learning motivation. Although students in both groups did not differ in their attitudes toward peer tutor models, students in the experimental group expressed positive attitudes toward Edmodo.

Abstract

Abstract:  The spread of Covid-19 is a threat in every sector of life, be it the economic, social and educational sectors. In the education sector, learning that is usually carried out face-to-face has switched to face-to-face or online / distance learning. Some schools are ready to implement distance / online learning, but many schools are not ready to implement distance / online learning because they are not familiar with and are not familiar with the use of learning platforms. So there is a need for socialization and workshops related to the use of distance learning platforms, one of which is the use of google classroom. Google classroom was chosen because it is quite efficient, practical and can be used quickly and easily. This method of community service activities is carried out online by delivering material then followed by workshops. The number of participants in the activity was 89 people followed by teachers from various regions in Indonesia. Based on the results of a questionnaire regarding the implementation of community service activities, the results of participant responses were 80.30% for indicators of activity benefits, 80.11% for content, 78.41% for feedback and 77.27% for indicators of material delivery. This shows that learning through the google classroom platform can help participants to implement a distance learning system, as well as answer the difficulties experienced by participants in using google classroom.

Abstract

This research investigates the involvement and ability of junior high school students in solving mathematical problems by incorporating GeoGebra in the Numbered Head Together (NHT) approach. A dynamic mathematics application called GeoGebra and (NHT) is thought to offer improved problem solving and active learning. This research used a quasi-experimental with an equivalent control group design for State Middle School students in Cilegon City. Questionnaires and tests of mathematical problem solving abilities are the research instruments used. The analysis techniques used was prerequisite tests (normality test and homogeneity test), hypothesis testing (independent t test) and percentage of learning activity questionnaires. The results of data analysis show statistically significant differences between the control and experimental groups using GeoGebra on NHT learning and student engagement. The research recommendation from the research results is to encourage teachers to integrate dynamic software in the preparation and implementation of teaching using GeoGebra.

Abstract

This study explores the effect of using XChart and applying peer tutoring to problem-solving abilities and student learning independence in mathematics education. The research method used is an experimental research design with a control group. The study results showed a significant increase in problem-solving abilities and students' learning independence in the experimental group compared to the control group. This study concludes that using XChart and applying peer tutoring can improve problem-solving abilities and student learning independence in mathematics education. This research's implications support using this combination in students' mathematics learning.

Abstract

In education, many students need more confidence in problem-solving and a lack of confidence. This study compares the problem-solving abilities and mathematical confidence of students who use Articulate Storyline media versus traditional learning. The design of this study was quasi-experimental with the nonequivalent control group. The experimental class uses Articulate Storyline media, while the control class uses traditional learning. Students from X TKI 6 (Experiment) and X TKI 5 (Control) participated in this study. Mathematical problem-solving ability tests and self-confidence questionnaires were used to collect data for this study. Data analysis using the Mann-Whitney test revealed that Articulate Storyline media substantially increased students' problem-solving skills and mathematical confidence.
