Abstract

This study aims to determine the understanding of medical students about English medical terminology. This study used descriptive quanitative method. There were 21 medical students at Khairun Ternate University who were involved in this research. By using purposive sampling technique. . Data was collected by using a test and questioner via google form. Of the 21 students, only 4 students got good grades, the other 17 were very low. The results of this study indicate the average value of students is 49.7 in the poor category.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the students competence in using present continuous tense by the second grade at SMA Negeri 6 Kota Ternate. This research applied a descriptive quantitative method. The population was the eleventh grade of SMA Negeri 6 Kota Ternate with 47 students. The research sample consisted of 20 students. The data collection was through a writing test and interview. Then, the data were analyzed by descriptive statistical analysis. The results of this study showed that the proportion (frequency and percentage) of the test result was 15% got good, 25% got fairly good, 20% got fair, 5% got poor, and 35% got very poor. Most of the respondents got poor classification. It means that the score of students in present continuous tense is still low. The biggest error that is produced by eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 6 Kota Ternate in using present continuous tense is because of misformation.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the moral values contained in the film Gie by Riri Riza. The theory used in this thesis is Lickona's theory. This study applied descriptive qualitative methods to explain and describe every moral value contained in the film. The subject of this research is the film Gie by Riri Riza. In conducting this study, researchers used documentary techniques to collect data from reading the synopsis of the film and watching the film “Gie”. There are seven types of moral values found in the film: responsibility, respect, wisdom, democracy, self-discipline, courage and supports. The most dominant moral value in this film is wisdom.

Abstract

This research aims to find out: (1) what are the most dominant types of errors made by class VIII of SMP National Banau Kota Ternate in making interrogative sentences? and (2) what are the factors causing errors made by students of class VIII of SMP National Banau Kota Ternate in using interrogative sentences? This research used descriptive qualitative method; this research involved 20 participants. The research instrument used a test, the test was used to obtain data on the types of errors in interrogative sentences. In data collection, tests were used to obtain data on the types of errors in interrogative sentences. In analyzing the data, there are five steps: Identifying students, Classifying types of errors by using the surface taxonomy strategy proposed by Ellis, Counting the number of errors, Discussing data, and Making conclusions.The results showed that there were 4 types of errors, namely omission, addition, misformation, and misordering. The percentages of the errors are 27 omissions (9.71%), 125 additions (43.10%), 129 misformation (44.48%), and 9 misordering (3.10%). The most dominant error is misformation (44.48%). And the factor that causes students to often make error in making interrogative sentences is intralingual transfer. Based on the analysis of the students' answer sheets, the misformation type errors made by students are because students are still confused in determining the right auxiliary words. The researcher suggested that teachers give students some exercises to minimize the dominant errors and try to find solutions. For the students, students should learn more by practicing writing regularly.

Abstract

This research discusses speech acts which are one of the basic elements in pragmatics. Speech acts consist of five categories, one of which is directive speech acts. This study aims to identify the types of directive speech acts contained in the cartoon film Raya and the last dragon, and also to determine the function of the directive speech acts used in the film. This study uses descriptive qualitative method in analyzing data. Data collection was carried out by reading film scripts and watching films to analyze the body movements, gestures and dialogues of each character. The results of the analysis show that there are eight types of directive speech acts found in the film, namely Question, Command, Advice, Asking, Entreating, Prohibiting, Permitting and Suggestion. Besides that, the general function of these types of directive speech act was found.

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini tentang pendidikan anak usia dini di RT 03 Kelurahan Tabam Kecamatan Ternate Utara. Dengan metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan subjek 10 orang tua yang memiliki anak usia dini 3-6 tahun. Penggalian data dengan teknik observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa hasil penelitian minat orang tua tentang  anak usia dini adalah aspek internal orang tua menyatakan pendidikan anak usia dini itu sangat penting. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari perkembangan anak yang semakin berubah mulai dari karakternya, bahasa, fisik motorik dan kognitifnya. Pada aspek internal orang tua menyatakan bahwa ingin anak mendapatkan pendidikan yang baik dan layak serta anak menjadi pintar maka jangan jadikan biaya sebagai suatu penghalang untuk tidak menyekolahkan anak. Berdasarkan hasil wawancara dari 10 informan dapat 6 informan yang  menyetujui bahwa anak yang berusia 3-6 tahun perlu untuk mendapatkan pendidikan anak usia dini agar lebih mengembagkan karakter-karakter anak. Sedangkan 4 informan tidak menyetujui anak yang berusia 3-6 tahun untuk mengenyam pendidikan anak usia dini dikarenakan lebih banyak mengeluarkan biaya, merasa repot untuk untuk mengantar jemput di sekolah, mendapatkan pelajaran yang kurang efektif dan kurangnya pemahaman orang tua tentang PAUD.
