Abstract

The objective of this research is to analyze the relationship between economic growth, which uses per capita Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and environmental degradation, which uses metric/ton carbon emission. This study was conducted in high-income southeast Asian countries incorporating 1998-2018 time-series data. Here investment represented by Foreign Direct Investment, population growth, and industrial growth were also used as the independent variables. The use of panel data regression with the fixed effect model has led to evidence that EKC, based on the inverted-U curve between economic growth and industrial growth positively affects environmental degradation and that population growth and investment negatively influence environmental degradation as explained by the increase in carbon emission.

Abstract

To improve financial inclusion, the government, through the Financial Services Authority (OJK), organized the Branchless Banking (Laku Pandai) program which aims to flatten the provision of formal financial institutions access. In this program, banks can expand their reach without constructing physical offices through collaboration with bank agents as financial intermediaries. This study aims to analyze the banking financial performance using CAMEL method on each Conventional Commercial Banks before and after the implementation of Branchless Banking in year of 2010-2019. This study uses a quantitative approach with the comparative research type and using non-parametric statistical test equipment (Wilcoxon signed-rank test) on its hypothesis test. Sample determination uses a purposive sampling technique resulting in the usage of 7 Conventional Commercial Banks (BRI, Mandiri, BTPN, BCA, BTN, BNI, and BPD Kaltim) as samples in this study. The results showed that in the CAR ratio, there were 7 banks that experienced significant differences. In the NPL ratio, there were 4 banks with significant differences. There were 3 banks that experience significant differences in NPM ratio. While, there were 6 banks with significant differences in its ROA. Last, the LDR ratio showed 6 banks that experience Branchless Banking in Indonesia.

Abstract

Technological sophistication in the era of globalization continues to encourage banks to provide the latest breakthroughs through modern lifestyles and easy access to banking services through electronic banking. In its implementation, electronic banking offers several services that can be used by customers, including mobile banking and Automated Teller Machines (ATMs). In line with technological developments, the complexity of banking risks has also increased from a credit perspective due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This study aims to determine the effect of electronic banking and risk profiles on banking profitability in Indonesia within 5 years of observation starting in 2017-2021. The research sample consisted of 5 conventional banks that met the purposive sampling criteria using multiple linear regression methods. Previously, a model specification test was carried out, with the results of the Random Effect Model (REM) as the best model to be used in this study. The data used in this study also passed the classical assumption test. Research results show that the number of ATM and NPL has a significant effect on ROA. Meanwhile, mobile banking has no significant effect on ROA.

Abstract

Financial performance is an illustration of the level of success achieved by a bank in its operational activities. banking financial performance is a major factor and is very important to assess the overall banking performance by looking at the value of the company. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of CAR, NPL, LDR and BOPO on firm value with profitability as an intervening variable in banking companies. This type of research is quantitative research. As for the sample used in this study, namely 8 bank financial reports published during the 2012-2021 period using the random sampling method. The data analysis technique used is multiple linear regression and Moderrated Regression Analysis (MRA). The results of the study state that CAR and NPL have no effect on firm value, while LDR and BOPO have a negative and significant effect on firm value. In addition, the results of this study also state that profitability is proven to be able to moderate the relationship between the influence of CAR, NPL, LDR and BOPO on firm value. It is hoped that banking management can focus more on improving the performance of the Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR) and BOPO (Operating Costs to Operating Income), this is because during the study period these variables had a negative and significant effect on Price to Book Value (PBV). Besides that, banking companies also need to pay attention to their profitability. Because profitability is a picture of banking in obtaining profits.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the response of Indonesia's economic growth and Indonesia's trade openness with each trading partner to economic growth shocks in Indonesia's main trading partners. This study uses a quantitative approach with the VAR / VECM method by analyzing the impulse response between variables, using time-series data. The sample used in this study amounted to 378 annual data from 1981-2022 sourced from the World Bank and IMF. The results obtained from the response test show that there is a positive response from Indonesia's economic growth to shocks to US economic growth, and a negative response from Indonesia's trade openness with the United States. There is a positive response from Indonesia's economic growth to China's economic growth shocks, and a negative response from Indonesia's trade openness with China. There is a positive response of Indonesia's economic growth and trade openness with Japan to Japan's economic growth shocks. There is a negative response from Indonesia's economic growth and trade openness with Malaysia to shocks in Indonesia's economic growth with Malaysia.
