Abstract

AbstractThe research problem is the low mathematical ability of students in arithmetic operations. The research is included in Research And Development (RD) with modified 4D development procedures. The purpose of this research is to develop a suitable and effective Paper Math product as a learning medium. The research subjects were seventh-grade students of SMP N 4 Pringsewu. The sampling technique used cluster random sampling. The research instrument consisted of a validation sheet, a student response sheet, and an arithmetic operation ability test. Based on the results of expert validation, it was obtained that the Paper Math media had very decent criteria and very good student responses, and the t-test was obtained that the average student learning outcomes using Paper Math media were higher than the average student learning outcomes who did not use the media. Paper Math. It is concluded that Paper Math is feasible and effective to be used as a medium to improve mathematical ability in arithmetic operations. Thus, it is hoped that paper math media can be used as a medium for math games to improve students' arithmetic operations ability.

Abstract

Circle is one of the mathematics subject matter studied in junior high school in class VIII. However, in reality there are still many students who have not been able to master the subject matter of circles. This indicates that students still make mistakes in solving the circle problem. The purpose of this study was to describe the mistakes made by class VIII students in solving circle problems based on error indicators, namely principle errors, conceptual errors, operational errors, and fact errors. The analytical method used is descriptive analysis with a qualitative approach, by taking the subject using purposive sampling. The research subjects were students of class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Pagelaran. The data were analyzed using triangulation techniques to test the credibility of the data by checking the data to the same source with different techniques. Data was collected using the test and interview methods. Data analysis was carried out using a fixed comparison method including: data reduction, data categorization, synthesis, ending with a working hypothesis. The results of this study were obtained a description of the student error data on (1) principle errors of 69.13% including students who did not write information known and asked correctly according to the correct steps, (2) concept errors of 37.03% covering students do not understand the various formulas and prerequisite conditions that must be used before solving circle problems, (3) operating errors of 43.20% include students not continuing with the next operation so that the questions are not solved perfectly, and students cannot solve problems according to procedures or not systematically , and (4) factual errors of 74.07% include students who are not careful in writing conclusions at the end of their answers.

Abstract

This research is quasi experiment with research design "Posttest Only Control Group Design" which aims to determine the application influence of collaborative learning models on the critical thinking ability students i.e. case study on grade VIII even semester SMP 1 Kelumbayan Barat Tanggamus. Sampling techniques using Cluster Random sampling. The research sample consists of two classes, namely one class experiment class i.e. grade VIII B as many as 39 students and one class control class VIII A as many as 40 students. Data collection techniques are obtained through mathematical critical thinking tests, observations, and interviews. Based on the results of the analysis obtained that tcount = 3.39. Distribution table, at the level of 5% obtained tdaf = 1,667 and at the level of 1% tdaf = 2,382. Proven tcount > ttable. It can be concluded that the collaborative learning model affects the ability of mathematical critical thinking students. The average mathematical critical thinking ability of students who use the collaborative learning model is higher than the average mathematical critical thinking ability of students who use the conventional learning model.

Abstract

The impact of question-based HOTS on learning Mathematics during a pandemic encourages students’ development of thinking skills and creativity. As a result, the aim of this research is to develop feasible HOTS-based Pythagorean Theorem questions in Mathematics learning. This type of research is development research design. This research development design is a 4-D development model. This 4-D development model is divided into four stages: define, design, develop, and disseminate. However, this research has only progressed to the stage develop. Based on the results of expert validation, it was found that HOTS-based Pythagorean Theorem questions were in correlated with the indicators of the feasibility’s questions to be applied. Then based on the test results using the correlation formula, Pearson product-moment found that the five items were valid, for the difficulty level the five items were included in the moderate criterion, for the distinguishing power that the five items had good distinguishing power, then using the formula it was alpha Cronbach determined that the five items are reliable. According to the research findings, HOTS-based Pythagorean Theorem questions are feasible to use for Mathematics instruction.
