Abstract

Today, the tendency of people to return to life to return to nature with the belief that taking natural medicines is relatively safer than synthetic drugs has an impact on the high demand for natural medicines. Dayak onion (Eleutherine palmifolia Merr.) is one of the typical types of medicinal plants in Kalimantan wherein its use as a medicinal plant the tubers are consumed in the form of freshly boiled water or in the form of simplicia. Activities with training methods and demonstrations/practices are one of the solutions that can be done. The results of community service activities showed that all participants participated actively and could receive all the knowledge and skills transferred by the PKW team and were interested in doing it themselves at home where organic crop products would be consumed by themselves (40% ) and sold (60%) with processed food and beverage products (55%) and traditional forms of medicine (45%). Likewise, for the processing of compost made from traditional market waste, compost processed products will be used alone (85%) and sold (15%) with compost products made from market waste (80%) and other compost made from ingredients (20%) of interest. The data shows that the Community Service Program conducted by the University of Palangka Raya can contribute and be a solution to overcome the problems faced by partners

Abstract

Dayak onions (Eleutherine palmifolia Merr) are a potential commodity that has many health benefits, so it has a high economic value. However, this Dayak onion plant has not received much attention in cultiva¬tion technology, especially fertilization. So far, this onion has grown relying on nature, while the land has diminished its fertility. This study tested a combination of chicken manure and NPK fertilizer to obtain the optimal composition to increase the productivity of Dayak onions. This study used a factorial randomized block design with 3 replications. The first factor consists of the treatment of chicken manure(O1 = control, O2 = 10 ton.ha-1 and O3 = 20 ton.ha-1). The second factor consists of NPK fertilizer(K1 = control, K2 = 100 kg.ha-1 Urea + 150 kg.ha-1 SP 36 + 200 kg.ha-1 KCl, K3 = 200 kg.ha-1Urea + 150 kg.ha-1 SP 36 + 200 kg.ha-1 KCl, and K4 = 300 kg.ha-1 Urea + 150 kg.ha-1 SP 36 + 200 kg.ha-1 KCl). The results showed that there was an interaction effect between the composition of chicken manure and NPK on the number of leaves, fresh weight of tubers, and dry weight of tubers per clump but did not affect the growth of plant height. The yield of Dayak bulbs of 62.60 g / clump was obtained in the composition of chicken manure of 20 tonnes.ha-1 with an NPK of 200 kg.ha-1 Urea + 150 kg.ha-1SP 36 + 200 kg.ha-1 KCl. From an economic perspective, the composition is very efficient and feasible, which is indicated by R / C> 1, namely 5.75, which means that with a certain unit cost, it can get 5.75 times the revenue.

Abstract

The utilization of sago waste as a source of organic material, namely compost will provide positive values for both plants and soil productivity and reduce the cost of purchasing chicken manure which is increasingly expensive. Research conductedon dry land in the dry seasonat a land plot of header/ tajuk varieties red onionusing the treatment of sago waste compost dosage. The treatment of sago waste compost doses, among others KS 0 = control, KS 1 = 35 t/ha, KS 2 = 70 t/ha dan KS 3 = 105 t/ha. The results showed no significant differences between treatments on the growth parameters of red onion aged 2 MST and 4 MST. However, the dry production parameters show that KS treatment differs only with KS 0. Respectively 11,56 t/ha compared to 9,61 t/ha. The treatment of sago waste compost dosage also has a good effect on decreasing the value of soil bulk density, increasing soil water content and also soil porosity. It is associated with the increased dose of sago waste compost then further increase the number of earthworm populations at different depths in the soil. At a depth of 0-15 cm the highest population of earthworms at KS 3 reached 1,077/ 2m2while KS 0 is only 309/2m2.
