Abstract

The increase in blood pressure during pregnancy is physiological, but about 12-22% of this increase leads to an abnormal pregnancy and 17% leads to death in the mother. The impact of hypertension in pregnancy is maternal and neonatal impacts. Maternal impacts arising from hypertension in pregnancy include maternal mortality with PEB in the form of mortality, HELLP syndrome, visual disturbances, eclampsia, ICU care, and sepsis, while perinatal outcomes include perinatal mortality, IUGR, LBW, asphyxia, fetal distress, and premature. The research design was non-reactive research with a case control approach using a sample group of 37 respondents and a control group of 127 respondents (total 164 respondents). The type of data is secondary data obtained from medical records. The data scale is nominal so that the analysis uses the chi-square test. The results showed that 22.6% had hypertension in pregnancy, 69.5% were multigravidas, 76.2% had no family history of hypertension, 81.7% had no history of hypertension, and 57.9% had BMI <25. The results of the analysis showed that there was a relationship between parity, family history of hypertension, family history, and BMI with the incidence of hypertension in pregnancy. Furthermore, a further test was carried out, the results showed that the parity variable was the dominant factor that had an influence on the incidence of hypertension in pregnancy with an OR -2.421, 95% CI, which means that primigravidas have a risk of 2.421 times lower than multigravidas.

Abstract

Breastfeeding is a special and joyful event that most mothers and their babies experience. Exclusive breastfeeding (breastfeeding only for babies until they are six months old) is an activity that is very beneficial for both mother and baby. The low achievement of exclusive breastfeeding often begins with giving prelacteal intake in the first days of the baby's life because of the low understanding of the baby's mother about the importance of breastfeeding. This study links the relationship between breastfeeding self-efficacy and prelacteal feeding in the first week of birth. This type of research is correlational with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study were breastfeeding mothers in the first week of the baby's birth; the number of samples was 50 people with purposive sampling technique. The data was collected using the BSE-SF questionnaire and observation—data analysis with univariate and bivariate chi-square tests to determine the relationship between the two variables. The study results with a p-value of 0.000 0.05, so it was concluded that there was a relationship between breastfeeding self-efficacy and the provision of prelacteal nutrition in the first week of birth. This research can then be used to reference further breastfeeding guidance strategies.

Abstract

Numerous studies have consistently demonstrated the association between stress, depression, and heightened anxiety during pregnancy, which can lead to adverse outcomes such as low birth weight (LBW), preterm birth, and developmental issues in infants. Recent data from the Buleleng District Health Office in December 2021 revealed that approximately 3.1% of infants in the region had low birth weights. Notably, the prevalence of LBW in the catchment area of the Busungbiu I Public Health Center in Buleleng exceeds the district average of 5.6%. Against this backdrop, the present study conducted at the Busungbiu I Public Health Center aims to explore the concerns of pregnant women regarding childbirth amidst the ongoing COVID-19 epidemic. Employing a descriptive-quantitative research design, the study focused on pregnant women who had attended prenatal check-ups at the Busungbiu I Public Health Center within the previous month. The sample comprised 80 respondents selected through probability random sampling. Among the respondents, the highest proportion, accounting for 35%, reported experiencing moderate levels of anxiety. Furthermore, analysis based on the respondents' age groups revealed that the youngest participants exhibited the highest levels of moderate anxiety. Additionally, respondents who had completed elementary school or an equivalent level of education, as well as those with junior high school education or its equivalent, comprised the groups with the highest prevalence of moderate anxiety. Based on the findings, it is recommended to implement targeted initiatives aimed at enhancing pregnant women's understanding of the significance of pregnancy education. Furthermore, it is encouraged to intensify efforts in providing comprehensive support to pregnant mothers, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary knowledge and resources to navigate the challenges associated with pregnancy and childbirth effectively.
