DIVERSIFIKASI LIMBAH PELEPAH KELAPA SAWIT DAN RUMPUT GAJAH MELALUI TEKNOLOGI MESIN CHOPPER DI KABUPATEN ACEH TAMIANG

Abstract

Abstrak: Pengabdian kepada masyarakat (PKM) ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan pakan ternak melalui proses diversifikasi limbah pelepah kelapa sawit dan rumput gajah menggunakan teknologi mesin chopper. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan edukatif dan transfer teknologiberupa introduksi teknologi mesin chopper pada kelompok tani mawar II kampung suka mulia kecamatan rantau kabupaten aceh tamiang melalui serangkaian tahapan kegiatan seperti koordinasi, sosialisasi, perakitan alat, uji coba penggunaan mesin chooper, penatausahaan administrasi, pendampingan serta monitoring dan evaluasi.Seluruh tahapan kegiatan yang tercatat melalui hasil lembar post test menunjukkan 8 anggota kelompok (32%) sangat memahami prosedur penggunaan mesin dan perhitungan hasil pakan, 12 anggota kelompok (48%) memahami dengan baik perbedaan kandungan nutrisi pelepah kelapa sawit dan rumput gajah dan teknik fermentasi dan 5 anggota kelompok (20%) cukup memahami sistim pemotong bahan melalui teknologi itu. Hasil pendampingan memperlihatkan 10 anggota kelompok (40%) mengetahui dengan baik penata usahaan organisasi dan 15 anggota kelompok (60%) cukup memahami manajemen keuangan dan pemasaran produk. Disimpulkan teknologi mesin chopper mampu menghasilkan limbah pelepah kelapa sawit dan rumput gajah menjadi pakan ternak fermentasi yang higienis dan dapat dipasarkan kepada kelompok tani lainnya serta menciptakan kemandirian pakan bagi kelompok itu.Abstract: This community service (PKM) aims to produce animal feed through the process of diversifying waste from oil palm and elephant grass using chopper machine technology. The method used is an educational approach and technology transfer through the introduction of chopper machine technologytoward farmer group Mawar II, Suka Mulia Village, Rantau District, Aceh Tamiang Regency through a series of stages of activities such as coordination, socialization, assembly of tools, trials of using chopper machines, administration management, mentoring, monitoring and evaluation. All of the activities noted through post test sheet showed that 8 group members (32%) quite well understood the procedures for using machines and calculating feed yields, 12 group members (48%) understood well the differences in the nutritional content of oil palm, elephant grass and fermentation techniques. and 5 group members (20%) quite understand the material cutting system through the technology. The results of the mentoring show that 10 group members (40%) know well the administration of the organization and 15 group members (60%) quite understand financial management and product marketing. It was concluded that the chopper machine technology was able to produce waste from palm and elephant grass into hygienic fermented animal feed that could be marketed to other farmer groups as well as to create food independence for that group.
