Abstract

Abstract: The aim of the research was to determine the effect of learning models on mathematics achievement viewed from the student learning style. The learning models compared were TAI (Team Assisted Individualization), TGT (Teams Games tournament) and direct teaching learning. The type of the research was quasi-experimental research. The population was the students of junior high school  in Wonogiri regency on academic year 2013/2014. The size of sample was 234 students consisted of 77 students in the first experimental group, 76 students on the second experimenta groupl, and 81 students on the tirth experimental group. The instruments used were mathematics achievement test, questioner, and the likert scale instrument. The data was analyzed using analisis of variance two way.  Conclusions of the research were as follow. (1) the learning achievement of the students instructed with the TAI learning model is the same as that of the students instructed with the TGT learning model, and the learning achievements of the students instructed with the TAI learning model and that of the students instructed with the TGT learning model are better than that of the students instructed with the direct learning model; (1) the learning achievement of the students instructed with the TAI learning model is the same as that of the students instructed with the TGT learning model, and the learning achievements of the students instructed with the TAI learning model and that of the students instructed with the TGT learning model are better than that of the students instructed with the direct learning model; (2) the students with the visual, auditory, and kinesthetic styles have the same learning achievement in Mathematics; (3) in each learning model, the students with the visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles have the same learning achievement in Mathematics; and (4) in each learning style, the learning achievement of the students instructed with the TAI learning model is the same as that of the students instructed with the TGT learning model, and the learning achievement of the students instructed with the TAI learning model and that of the students instructed with the TGT learning model are better than that of the students instructed with the direct learning model. Keywords: TAI, TGT, direct learning, learning style, achievement

Abstract

Abstract: The aims of this research were to: 1) determine the validity of the results of the development of learning modules with discovery learning approach on the material of limit algebra functions; 2) determine the practicality of the development of learning modules; 3) determine the effectiveness of the development of learning modules; 4) determine whether students achievement in the material of limit algebra functions using learning modules is better than the students who don’t use it. The development of the modules was done through the modified Four D, namely define, design, development, and disseminate. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis. Validity analysis was based on an expert assessment. Practicality analysis was based on implementation of learning module. Effectiveness analysis was based on student response after using the module. Analysis of student achievement was based on t-test hypothesis. The result concluded that: 1) learning modules with discovery learning approach to the material limit algebra functions declared fit for use by experts with the validity score of 3.44 and be in very good criteria; 2) learning modules expressed practical use in learning with the practicality score gained from the sheet of implementation of learning is 0.919 and be in very good criteria; 3) learning modules is effective for use in learning with the scores of effectiveness obtained from the sheet of student's response to the module is 3.03 and be in good criteria; 4) learning achievement of students who use the learning module is better than students who don’t use it, but isn’t significant. Keywords: learning module, discovery learning, limit algebra functions.

Abstract

Abstract: This research is aimed to describe the skills in geometry of visually impaired inclusion students on rectangular learning. This research was qualitative research. The research subjects were grade IX student of SMP MIS Surakarta. There were 3 students consisting of 1 low vision student, 1 totally blind when he was 15 years old, and 1 totally blind since she was born. The procedure of selecting the subject used in this research was purposive sampling technique. The data of research was collected through interviews based on rectangular task. The data was analyzed based the theory skill in Geometry’s of Hoffer. The steps are : analyze all data are available from several sources, perform data reduction, compiling data in units, categorization the obtained data unit which shows each information on skill in Geometry of blind students in SMP MIS Surakarta as well as implementation of inclusion programs at SMP MIS Surakarta’s data. Skill in Geometry’s data was validated using time triangulation and  implementation of inclusion programs at SMP MIS Surakarta’s data was validated using sources triangulation. The result of this research show that: 1) skills in geometry of low vision student cannot reach level 2 at all; 2) skills in geometry of student with totally blind when he was 15 year old can reach level 2 just on drawings skill. However, he cannot mastering level 0 on drawings skill well; 3) skills in geometry of student with totally blind since she was born cannot reach level 2 at all; 4) factors that affect skills in geometry of the students are availability of textbooks for students with visual impairment, the role of special guidances teachers, availability and uses of learning medium, teacher who has skills to handle student with visual impairment. Keywords: Geometry, Skills in Geometry, Visually impaired Student, Inclusions Student, Rectangular

Abstract

Abstract: This study aimed to: (1) produce teaching and learning materials with CTL approach on Pythagorean theorem at VIII Grade of Junior High School that was valid, practical, and effective, (2) investigate the better achievement in mathematics, whether using teaching and learning materials of CTL approach than using conventional teaching and learning materials. This study was development research. The development model used in this research was a developmental  research by  Plomp that contained five phases, (1) preliminary investigation, (2) design, (3) realization/ construction, (4) test, evaluation, and revision, and (5) implementation.  Teaching and learning materials said have quality if fulfilled validity, practical, and effective criteria. Teaching and learning materials was categorized validity based on expert judgement. Taeching and Learning materials was categorized practical if based on theory, teaching and learning materials was able to use it without revision or little revision and had fulfilled criteria of a practical teaching and learning materials. Teaching and learning materials was categorized effective if it fulfilled the indicators for a effective learning, including students activity during studying, learning activities based on syntax, student response about the learning, and students learning result. The data in this research was collected using test, questionnaire, observation, documentation, and interview.  To investigate the better student achievement used t-test. The results of this study were as follows: teaching and learning materials of CTL approach that include lesson plans, worksheets, and test of learning outcome was said to be valid, practical, and effective. Besides  that, student achievement with teaching and learning materials of CTL approach was better than student achievement with teaching and learning materials of conventional approach. Keywords: Teaching and learning materials, CTL, Pythagorean theorem
