Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of chemistry learning by using Diagram I in guided inquiry learning on student achievement on the subject matter of hydrolysis of salt class XI IPA SMA Negeri 1 Surakarta Academic Year 2017/2018. This research uses experimental method with research design that used is randomized Control group pretest-posttest design. The population used is a class XI IPA SMA Negeri 1 Surakarta The data analysis technique used is by using the right-t test. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that learning chemistry using Diagram I in guided inquiry learning on the achievement of learning on the subject of salt hydrolysis is effective to the eleventh grader of SMA Negeri 1 Surakarta in the academic year of 2017/2018. It can be proved by the result of calculation with the value of calculation that is 2.422 higher than the ttable price is 1.671 for the learning achievement of the knowledge aspect, while the Mann-Whitney U test attitude and skill aspects aspects have the significance value of 0.021 and 0.047.

Abstract

Based on this, the study aims to improve the activity and learning outcomes of the ability to study the exposition text in grade XI students of SMA Negeri 3 Surakarta. This research is a class action study with two cycles. Based on data analysis, in the pre cycle, the process of learning monotonous assignments and questioning so that the activation and learning outcomes are still low. In cycle I, activity and learning outcomes experienced a significant increase but had not yet reached an achievement indicator. In cycle II, increased activation and learning outcomes are not very significant compared to the increase in the pre cycle to the I cycle. However, the results have reached an achievement indicator so that learning is said to be successful. It was concluded that the application of the Teams Games Tournament method with the media game Truth and Dare could improve the activity and learning results of the ability to study the exposition text in students XI MIPA 4 SMA Negeri 3 Surakarta.

Abstract

An effective and successful language learning process can only be achieved when students actively participate in the class. This research aimed to improve students’ class participation by the optimization of  Think Pair Share (TPS) technique. This research was conducted as classroom action research whose subject was the tenth grade students of DPIB B class in a vocational highschool in Surakarta in the academic year of 2018/2019. The data were gathered from the research instruments, such as: observation, interview, questionnaire, research diary, and photographs. The data were analyzed using both quantitative and qualitative. The findings of the research showed that implementation of TPS was successful in improving students’ participation with the increase in the number of: (1) students asking and answering questions; (2) students’ interaction during the class; (3) students paying their attention during the class; (4) students interacting during group discussion; and (5) students speaking in front of the class. There were also some challenges that the researcher faced during the implementation of TPS technique, such as: (1) the familiarity of the technique to the students; (2) teacher’s control of the class; (3) students’ readiness in receiving the lesson; (4) difficulty in expressing opinion and ideas; (5) lack of confidence in speaking; (6) low grammar mastery; and (7) lack of vocabulary.

Abstract

Technical and vocational education and training (TVET) has important role in supporting the success of vocational education. Vocational school as an education at secondary level has not been able to implement programs and plans that exist in TVET concept. Need for assistance in the implementation of TVET in vocational schools aims to ensure that implementation TVET is not misdirected and is not wrong destination. This research survey was conducted on SMK students in Bekasi district by taking random sample. Verification analysis is performed to hypothesis testing on the influence between variables using structural equation modeling. This study empirically examines the important role of TVET based on preparation, implementation and competency so that it can have an impact on the relevance of knowledge and skills produced. Results of this study stated that preparation, implementation and competency had a significant influence on TVET impact which was applied to vocational students. TVET impacts can be felt by vocational students include relevant to current work, use of skills, utilization of knowledge, results of training, adequate living needs, results of assessments. This research is expected to be used as suggestion for  development of quality for SMK as vocational schools at secondary education level can be aligned with  objectives of TVET.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of learning hands on minds  on activity  based  on socio-scientific  issues  on  students'  scientific  literacy  in colloidal material. This research is an experimental study using Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The population  in this study were all students of class XI MA Al Asror Semarang with sampling technique used saturated sampling, it was obtained in class XI IPA  1 as the control class and  XI IPA  2 as the experimental  class. The  research instruments were in the form of scientific literacy test questions, interviews, observations, student  response questionnaires,  and  documentation.  The  results  showed  that  the average value of scientific literacy of experimental  class students = 46.46 higher than the control class = 45.25. After the mann whitney non parametric test at a significance level of 5% was done, it was obtained Uo = 75 higher than Utl = 41 which means that hands on minds on activity learning based on socio-scientific issues is not effective in increasing students' scientific literacy in colloidal material. This is because during the learning process minds on activities are less well implemented

Abstract

The study aims to find out the student's response about Mind Map, a student's fault in creating the Mind Map, the strengths and weaknesses of using Mind Mapping techniques in the learning of straight-line equations. Quantitative descriptive analysis of percentages was conducted against 84 responses to students about Mind Map, and evalua¬tive analysis was conducted against the Mind Map document by students of Grade VIII SMP Negeri 1 Masaran. Mistakes students include: coloring has not been made correctly, wrong in putting the next branch, making many branches of the main branch but not forwarded, the center of the Mind Map at the edges, wrong in dashing main idea with the idea Next branch, and did not write the idea on the next branch. The strenghts of using Mind Mappng techniques include: Students can make comparisons, learning time can be used more effectively, learning can be done continuously, provid¬ing a place to pour the next ideas, Students' creativity can be developed well, students become more actively asked, and students can make corrections to the truth of their answers. The weaknesses include: Mind Map function for benchmarking yet effective can be used, contrast difference cannot be found, and students' difficulty determines the main idea and the ideas of the branch.
