Abstract

Learning activities require a conducive condition, including liberated of noise. This research aims to analyze the noisy level during learning activities in some lecture building of Universitas Bengkulu (UNIB). The data was collected through systematic purposive sampling and analyzed descriptively. The level of sound at UNIB lecture buildings (GKB) 1 until 5, I and J buildings was measured every five minutes during the interval 08.01 - 08.30, 08.31- 09.00, 10.01 - 10.30, 11.16 - 11.45 and 13.01 -  13.30 (local time) for a day sampling. The results show the sound intensity at UNIB lecture buildings ranges from 46.6 to 89.8 dBA, with most of the data (81%) were categorized as noisy, and above the threshold for education environment. The noise level was significantly different between buildings (X2=78.50, df=5, P<0.001) and between time interval (X2=79.09, df=29, P<0.001). The lowest average of noise was in J building i.e. 58.85 dBA + 1.30, while the highest was in GKB 5, 68.15 dBA + 0.87. Based on the time interval, the lowest average was at 13.01-13.30 i.e. 59.20 dBA + 1.45, while the highest at 10.01-10.30, 71.58 dbA + 1.86. This noise level was parallelly correlated with the estimation number of students using the building (F1,4=43.87, p < 0.001, R2=0.92), which indicated the main source for these noises are student activities. A high level of noise at UNIB lecture buildings need to be treated. A long term of noise can affect physiology and psychology of the students and reduce the effectivity of learning.

Abstract

Silica is one of the potential minerals to be developed and applied in various industrial fields. High purity of silica can be obtained by utilizing natural materials such as beach sand. In this research the solid-liquid extraction (leaching) method was used in three main steps. Bengkulu beach sand as precursors reacted with NaOH (alkaline fusion) at 95°C to form Na2SiO3, then addition of HCl to form Si(OH)4, and drying the silica gel becomes SiO2. Based on the initial content analysis in Bengkulu sand contained 69.87% silica and other compounds with a lower percentage. The extracted silica was characterized using XRF and the purity of silica increase to 97.3%. The XRD characterization results showed that the silica formed was in the amorphous phase. Si-O-Si and Si-O bonds which are characteristics of SiO2 were identified in the FT-IR spectrum with absorption bands of 798.8 cm-1 and 475.1 cm-1 respectively.

Abstract

Mathematics has an important role in the world of education because it is very supportive of knowledge in other fields, such as physics, chemistry, biology and science. However, most people consider mathematics to be very difficult and boring because it is abstract, so mathematics learning should be carried out in a fun and interesting manner and easily understood by students. Determining the KPK and FPB of an integer is one of the mathematical material that is often considered difficult by students in primary school, especially if the number is large enough. Usually the teacher uses a factor tree or prime factorization. It was never applied using props, so this article discusses the alternative methods of determining the KPK and FPB of an integer using the props. The visual aids used were KPK and FPB boxes. Through this teaching aid, the learning becomes more fun and students become more enthusiastic about learning and understanding the concept of material becomes more increased.

Abstract

[The study of transmission probability and IV chracteristics of a G4 molecule] In this era, there have been many theoretical and experimental studies conducted to enhance technological development. The development of technology continues to grow rapidly with electronic components that are getting smaller towards nano. Nanotechnology is becoming increasingly interesting because it can be created through DNA that is found in either the human body or other living things. This research was conducted to study DNA transport properties by calculating transmission probabilities and I-V characteristics. The DNA studied is DNA that has been modified consisting of 4 guanine bases arranged stacked to form a square called G4-DNA. G4-DNA is composed by having 32 base pairs and connected by electrodes at the end. The transport properties of G4-DNA were studied using the Hamiltonian tight binding approach. Transmission probability is calculated using the method of the Green Function Hamiltonian to determine the possibility of electrons flowing along the DNA pathway. This transmission probability is used in determining the I-V Characteristics based on the Landauer Büttiker formula. The results are obtained that the electron transport process along the G4-DNA molecule is an increase in current to high voltage. The effects of I-V characteristics are seen by affecting the twisting motion frequency up to 5.12 meV which is a significant increase in current. The results of this study can provide information about the characteristics of DNA that can be applied in the future in manufacture of nanotechnology device.
