Abstract

Hemodialysis procedure was influenced by the patient's quality of life. Comprehensive understanding changes of health-related quality of life dimensions to provide the best nursing care planning is needed. This study aimed to determine longitudinal changes for each dimension of health-related quality of life patient who received hemodialysis. Longitudinal study and Generalized estimating equations Statistic analysis were used. Thirty respondents were included in this study between December 2019 and July 2020. Overall trend each dimension of health-related quality of life in hemodialysis patients were decreased. Interestingly, a social function was showed potential to be maintained and improved. Also, age, co-morbidities and education level were found as predictors some of the changes the health-related quality of life dimensions. Developing nursing included social and family care program intervention to maintenance psychological dimensions is recommended for future study.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a metabolic disorder disease characterized by a rise of blood sugar due to a decrease of insulin by the pancreas. The role of the family in caring for the patient with type 2 diabetes mellitus is crucial in treatment. this study was aimed to know the ability of family in caring. a purposive sampling method was applied in this research. a total of 31 respondents were selected. the results showed that the majority of family's ability to recognize as a problem was good with 16 people ( 51,6 % ), in taking decisions for treatment was positive as much as 19 people (61.3%), in treatment of type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients were positive 25 people (80,6%), in modifying the environment for Treatment was negative  18 people (58.1%). therefore, Health education for the family related to modifying the environment for treatment was required to recover the patient.

Abstract

Adolescence is a transitional stage from the stage of the child to the stage of adult growth and development, wherein this transition there are many changes physical or biological, cognitive, and emotional aspects. As a result of emotional changes in adolescents usually when adolescents are confronted with stressors can cause negative feelings to arise, where negative feelings experienced by adolescents are related to one's belief in one's ability to cope with stressors or so-called self-efficacy. The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between emotional intelligence with self-efficacy in adolescents. This research is a correlational analytic study through the cross-sectional approach. The population in this study was all students in the Faculty of Health Sciences, Kadiri University. Samples of 191 respondents were selected using a simple random sampling technique. The statistical test of research data uses the Spearman Ranks Test. Statistical test results show p = 0,000 (p-value <0.05), means that there is a correlation between emotional intelligence and self-efficacy in adolescents. The results of this study can be used as a basis for providing intervention for adolescents to further maximize the development of emotional intelligence and achievement of self-efficacy in adolescents so adolescents can manage negative emotions and have confidence in abilities from themselves, so adolescents can overcome negative emotions that arise due to the stressors.

Abstract

Well-being is something that everyone, especially breastfeeding mothers, wants to achieve. Well-being is needed by postpartum mothers to play a new role optimally in the lactation process. The individual experience of breastfeeding is influenced by knowledge, positive affect and a lot of confidence in the breastfeeding process to achieve well-being during the postpartum psychological adaptation process. This study aims to describe the well-being of breastfeeding mothers. Literature review regarding the well-being of breastfeeding mothers using databases from ProQuest, ScienceDirect, JSTOR, and Scopus obtained from 2008-2020 with a total of 10 articles. Synthesis analysis reveals seven aspects that affect the well-being of postpartum mothers in the breastfeeding process, such as 1) family support, 2) self-efficacy, 3) initiation in the first time breastfeeding. 4) positive mood, 5) awareness of self-acceptance, 6) negative obstetric experience, 7) knowledge. Postpartum mothers can improve well-being through the management of factors that influence postpartum psychological adaptation as a positive preventive effort in increasing the ability of the lactation process to prevent ineffective breastfeeding.

Abstract

The incidence of hypertension is increasing, followed by high complications and mortality due to hypertension. Blood pressure control is needed to improve the quality of life of hypertensive patients, including non-pharmacological management. One of the non-pharmacological hypertension management is a combination of natural music therapy and rose aromatherapy. The purpose of this study was to analyse the effect of combination of natural music therapy and rose aromatherapy on reducing blood pressure in hypertensive patients in the Kedungmundu area of Semarang. The research design was Quasy Experiment research, one group pretest and posttest design. Sample of 16 respondents were selected by random sampling. The result showed that the combination of natural music therapy and rose aromatherapy was effective in reducing blood pressure in hypertensive patients (p value = 0.000). The recommendation of this study is that a combination of natural music therapy and rose aromatherapy can be chosen as an alternative nursing intervention in reducing blood pressure in hypertensive patients.

Abstract

Health beliefs among family members of diabetic patients are important factor of the diabetic preventing behaviours. This study aimed to describe family’s beliefs toward diabetes mellitus prevention based on the Health Belief Model and its’ contributing factors. This corelational study involved 72 peoples that purposively sampled from 34 diabetic patients who live in Jatinangor Public Health Center Working area. A questionnaire developed by the research team consisted of 37 items and 6 domains: perceived susceptibility, severity, benefits, barriers, cues to action, and self efficacy was used to collect the data. The collected data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially. The results showed that most of respondents (77.78%) positively believed on diabetes mellitus (DM) susceptibility, severity (59.72%), benefits of DM prevention (84.77%), and cues to action (76.4%). It was also found that most of respondents negatively believed on the prevention barriers (84%) and self-efficacy (77.78%). Female and actively involved in patient care were found as the contributing factors of the respondents’ beliefs related to DM prevention (p<0.05). To conclude, the DM patients’ family members believed that they are vulnerable to have DM and DM preventions are beneficial. Female and being actively involved in patient care potentially increase the family members’ beliefs toward DM prevention. So, it is important for the healthcare professionals to maximize the family members’ involvement in DM patient care program.

Abstract

The fluctuation of the number on three years who had a practice of breastfeeding exclusively at Kupang. There was stagnant for a number. The research aims to investigate the relationship between factors and practices of exclusive breastfeeding at the Primary Health of Alak in Kupang. The study was quantitative research with a descriptive correlation design and used a retrospective approach. The analysis data using Chi-Square with samples of this research were 275 mothers, in which they were taken through purposive sampling, and held on August-September 2016. Data were collected using questioners. The result shows that there was a correlation between some factors and breastfeeding practices, which were the mother’s occupation (p-value =0,036), conditions of their breast (p-value = 0,002), and the babies’ health (p-value = 0,006). Giving solutions for the problem that the mother faces during breastfeeding make the mother have the confidence to sustaining breastfeeding until two years. Nurses have competent to help mothers especially for positions, latch on and expressing the milk for worker mother, problem breast, and when the baby was sick.

Abstract

Nutritional problems in children are still common, including malnutrition and overweight and obesity. If this problem is not resolved it will have an impact on lack of learning achievement. This study aims to identify the nutritional status of elementary school children and their correlation with learning achievement in mathematics. This cross sectional study used a sample of 56 children in grade 1 elementary school. Nutritional status assessment is based on the Republic of Indonesia's Minister of Health Regulation No. 2 of 2020 concerning Child Anthropometry Standards. Category and threshold (Z score) nutritional status of children based on body mass index according to age (IMT / U) of children aged 5-18 years. Learning achievement is measured by the report card grades for mathematics subjects. Data analysis with Pearson product moment test and Chi-square. The results showed the nutritional status of children; thin: 6 people (10.7%), normal: 37 people (66.1%), fat: 4 people (7.1%) and obese: 9 people (16.1%). The average value of mathematics subjects is 93.16 ± 3.677. There is a relationship between nutritional status and learning achievement in mathematics (p = 0,000). Nutrition problems in children both undernutrition and over nutrition (overweight and obese) need to be addressed so that learning achievement in the future will be optimal.

Abstract

Parenting stress experienced by parents for alpha generation. Efforts that can be done are to reduce parenting stress with the right techniques. One technique to reduce stress is PISANG GEN ALFA/Mobile Application Parenting Assertive and Management Stress. The purpose of this study was to analyse the effect of PISANG GEN ALFA on parenting stress for parents with alpha generation. The method used was a quasi-experimental pre-test-post-test with control group design with a sample of 100 parents with alpha generation. The sampling technique was purposive sampling with research instruments using the Parental Stress Scale (PSS). The research was conducted in Malang City and Batu City. The statistical test used Chi-Square Tes, Paired Sample T-Test and independent T-test. The results of the distribution of characteristics were not different between the two groups before and after being given treatment. There was an effect of reducing parenting stress after being given PISANG GEN ALFA (0,000) and there was an average difference between the treatment and control groups (0.001). PISANG GEN ALFA is one of the mental health applications that can reduce parenting stress in parents with alpha generation. So that there was a reduction in parenting stress after being given PISANG GEN ALFA and there was an average difference between the group using PISANG GEN ALFA compared to the control group in reducing parenting stress for parents with generations of the children.

Abstract

Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) in Indonesia is still high. One of the indirect causes of maternal death is the behaviour of pregnant women. Information is needed about the role of nurses as educators on the healthy behaviour of pregnant women. The purpose of the study was to find a picture of the experience of pregnant women related to the role of nurses as educators on the healthy behaviour of pregnant women. This type of research is a qualitative phenomenological. As the population is pregnant women in the city of Semarang, samples were taken by convenience sampling technique of 6 people. Data collection was carried out by in-depth interviews. Analysis of qualitative data with the Colaizzi model. The results found 3 themes describing the role of nurses as educators on healthy behaviour of pregnant women, namely the role of nurses as educators, efforts made by pregnant women in pregnancy care, and expectation of mothers towards the role of nurses. The conclusion of this research is the role of nurses in healthy behaviour of pregnant women, healthy behaviour of mothers in the form of physical health care, nutritional needs of pregnant women, supporting food needs, routine examination of pregnant women (antenatal care), and establishing emotional relations with the fetus.
