Abstract

Abstract     This article is proposed to find out the development of interlanguage, especially the variability of the system the students use in speaking caused by linguistic markedness. Data were collected from participants when they performed their speech. The speech was recorded so that the writer can replay it after the research.     The participants were chosen from those who were conssidered better students for the sake of practicality in collecting the data. The writer analyzed 3 speeches spoken by three participants. To study interlanguage development of the poor students is quite difficult, because they produce the language without the knowlege of English. Therefore, there is no fixed system found when they produce English.Having collected the data and analyzed them, the writer found that interlanguage development is influenced by markedness. Markedness can be divided into marked and unmarked and it is one of the sources of difficulty. The students construct their own system of English based on the markedness they can identify. If they cannot see or listen to the markedness, they tend to make overgeneralization.

Abstract

Penulisan makalah ini didasarkan pada hasil studi literatur, jurnal dan temuan penelitian tentang persistensi dan pendidikan science, technology, engineering, dan mathematic (STEM). Dari hasil kajian teori diketahui bahwa pendidikan STEM merupakan bentuk pendidikan yang paling sesuai untuk mempersipkan generasi yang literasi terhadap STEM demi menjawab tuntutan zaman dan perkembangan teknologi. Namun masih sedikit peserta didik di Indonesia bahkan mahasiswa yang mengambil jurusan teknik yang menyadari pentingnya STEM. Umumnya hal ini disebabkan karena rendahnya persistensi mahasiswa terhadap STEM. Persistensi merupakan kegiatan yang dilakukan secara sukarela untuk mencapai tujuan meski menghadapi berbagai kendala. Persistensi yang tinggi dan positif akan suatu hal sebanding dengan motivasi dan kepercayaan diri seseorang untuk mencapai tujuannya. Berdasarkan kajian teori persistensi yang tinggi dan positif terhadap STEM dan pendidikan STEM akan meningkatkan kualitas proses pembelajaran yang kemudian akan meningkatkan mutu lulusan.

Abstract

Salah satu penyebabnya rendahnya hasil belajar adalah metode belajar yang digunakan oleh guru kurang melibatkan keaktifan murid dan juga kurangnya kepedulian dari guru untuk memberikan media dalam pembelajaran. Selama ini guru hanya menggunakan metode mencatat di papan tulis dan tanya jawab dalam pembelajaran. Guru hanya menjelaskan materi pelajaran, memberi contoh soal dan dilanjutkan dengan memberikan soal latihan tanpa menggunakan benda contoh pada pelajaran yang memerlukan benda nyata sebagai contohnya. Solusi dari permasalahan tersebut ialah menggunakan media realia. Dengan menggunakan  media realia dalam  pembelajaran matematika, diharapkan para siswa lebih aktif lagi, bisa dengan mudah memahami materi pelajaran. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah ingin mengetahui seberapa besar pengaruh media realia terhadap peningkatan prestasi belajar matematika siswa kelas X SMK Negeri 3 Sungai Penuh. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif. Setelah dilakuakn analisis diperoleh rhitung> rtabel  yaitu 0,499 > 0,423, dimana harga r = 0,499 yang berharga positif maka terdapat pengaruh positif dari media realia terhadap prestasi belajar matematika siswa. Koofisien determinasi (r)2 = 0,25, jadi besarnya hubungan variabel X terhadap Y adalah 25%. Ini berarti pengaruh media realia terhadap prestasi belajar matematika siswa kelas X SMK Negeri 3 Sungai Penuh adalah sebesar 25%. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh media realia terhadap prestasi belajar matematika siswa kelas XB2 SMK Negeri 3 Sungai Penuh.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis: 1) Pengaruh pemberian reward terhadap motivasi belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran IPS Terpadu kelas VIII di MTsN Punggasan, 2) Pengaruh pemberian punishment oleh guru terhadap motivasi belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran IPS Terpadu kelas VIII di MTsN Punggasan 3) Pengaruh pemberian reward, pemberian punishment oleh guru secara bersama-sama terhadap motivasi belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran IPS Terpadu kelas VIII MTsN Punggasan. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII MTsN Punggasan yang berjumlah sebanyak 248 orang. Teknik pengambilan sampel dengan Proporsional Random Sampling dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 152 orang. Alat pengumpulam data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah angket. Teknik Analisis data dengan menggunakan regresi linear berganda dengan menggunakan software SPSS versi 18. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: 1). Pemberian reward oleh guru berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap motivasi belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran IPS Terpadu  kelas VIII MTsN Punggasan. 2) pemberian punishment oleh guru berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap motivasi belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran IPS Terpadu kelas VIII di MTsN Punggasan  3). Pemberian reward, pemberian punishmentoleh guru secara bersama-sama berpengaruh positif signifikan terhadap motivasi belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran IPS Terpadu kelas VIII MTsN Punggasan. Dalam proses pembelajaran seorang guru tampil sebagai pendidik profesional, dimana seorang guru yang memiliki multi peran tidak hanya sebatas transfer of knowledge. Seorang guru harus bisa menyampaikan materi pembelajaran dengan baik dan memahami berbagai pendekatan dalam pembelajaran salah satunya yaitu dengan memberikan reward dan punishment guna untuk meningkatkan motivasi siswa dalam belajar dan tercapinya tujuan pembelajaran secara maksimal. ABSTRACTThis research aims to analyze: 1) The effect of reward to motivate student learning in social studies the Integrated class VIII in MTsN Punggasan, 2) impact of being exposed punishment teacher has about a student learning motivation in social studies the Integrated class VIII in MTsN Punggasan 3) The effect reward, punishment is by teachers Award simultaneously to the student motivation in social studies class VIII Integrated MTsN Punggasan.This research population is all class student VIII MTsN Punggasan amounting to as many 248 person. The sampling technique Proportional Random Sampling with a total sample of 152 people. Pengumpulam tool data used in this study was a questionnaire. Mechanical Analysis of data using multiple linear regression using SPSS software version 18. Results showed that: 1). Reward teachers and significant positive effect on the students motivation in social studies class VIII the Integrated MTsN Punggasan. 2) provision of punishment is by teachers' positive and significant impact on the students motivation in social studies class VIII in MTsN the Integrated Punggasan 3). Reward, awarding punishment is by teachers simultaneously significant positive effect on student learning motivation in social studies class VIII the Integrated MTsN Punggasan.Inside learning process of a teacher perform as an a professional educator, where a teacher who has a multi role is not only limited transfer of knowledge. A teacher should be able to deliver learning materials properly and understanding the various approaches to learning one of them is by giving reward and punishment in order to increase student's motivation to learn and learning objectives to the maximum.

Abstract

Motivation and learning are two things that affect each other . One of factors that affect the motivation of learning is environment learning and parenting that determine the quality of student learning outcomes. The objective of this study was to examine the correlation between parenting with learning environment and learning motivation of students in cerdas school. The study was conducted in a cerdas school, Tampan Pekanbaru. The sample consists of 57 students in cerdas school. The approach was conducted in this study are qualitative and quantitative. The results showed that positive parenting in terms of parental control (64%), clarity of communication (61%) and the demands of the parents become mature (54%). Students have the internal motivation (68%) and external motivation (55%) in positive learning. There are significant affect and positive among parenting with student learning motivation with significantion value 0.000 and determination coefficient 69.1 percent. It was concluded that parenting affect to learning motivation of students. It is recommended to parents and the school to be able to apply a good parenting style, creating a situation that can stimulate learning interest of students to actively learn and pay attention to the needs of school children.

Abstract

Video materials were used this study to examine the effectiveness of teaching English and to evaluate university students’ attitudes towards the use of video materials in teaching listening skills. The population for this study was 32 first-year midwifery students in the second semester of the academic year 2016/2017 at Adiwangsa University, Jambi. The sample were selected by total sampling technique. The study was conducted in 12 meeting including pretest and posttest. The one-group pretest-posttest design was implemented in this study. The instruments used in this study were lesson plans, English comprehension tests (pretest and posttest) and a questionnaire of the students’ attitude. Regarding the data analysis, mean score and pretest-posttest scores for the dependent sample were employed. The result indicated that the midwifery students’ English listening comprehension ability increased significantly after learning with videos and midwifery students had positive attitudes towards using videos in teaching listening skills.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to find the effect of the application of Practice Rehearsal Pairs strategy Towards Students’ Speaking Ability At The Tenth Grade Students of SMAN 2 Lubuk Alung. This research is an experimental research. The population was all students in class X SMAN 2 Lubuk Alung school year 2015/2016. The samples selected were X1class as the experimental class and X3 class as the control class. The research was conducted for 8 meetings. The research began by providing treatment to the experimental class by using Practice Rehearsal Pair strategy and control class by using conventional technique. At the end of the research, students were given a speaking test as an instrument to determine the result of the strategy used. The technique of analyzing data was the hypothesis t-test, which was used to test the difference in mean and standard deviation of the two samples. Based on the analysis of data obtained, tcalculate = 5.12 and ttable = 2.05. Because tcalculate (5.12) > ttable (2.05), then H0 was rejected and Hi was accepted, so it can be concluded that the application of Practice Rehearsal Pair strategy provides a significant effect towards students’ speaking ability at SMAN 2 Lubuk Alung.

Abstract

Code-switching is becoming a common phenomenon which occur extensively in English teachers’ speech in the classrooms where English is not the first language of both teachers and students. In the Indonesian context, particularly where a regional language is used along with the national language (Bahasa Indonesia) both teachers and students are able to speak more than one language. However, many second and foreign-language educators and researchers have developed strong beliefs about using code-switching in teaching English is not an effective way to help students mastering English language. One of the views claims that code switching is a sign of an inability to express oneself, and it reduces the opportunity of using English completely. For this reason, English teachers use of code-switching is regarded as a factor leading to the decline of English language proficiency, despite of the fact that these beliefs may not always grounded in theory or research. This project has aim to describe the application of code-switching practices among the English teachers at English education program in West Sumatra Indonesia where people commonly used Bahasa Indonesia and their regional language i.e. Minangkabau language in communication.The findings of the study show that both intrasentential and intersentential switching are applied by those English teachers

Abstract

The Purpose of this study is to find at the factors that influence students to choose Office Administrative Study Program at Public Vocational School of Business in Padang. The study was done in SMKN 2 and SMKN 3 Padang. By is an exploratory research. Population was 464 students of grade X, XI, and XII in both SMKN 2 and SMKN 3 with 82 students as sample. Sampling technique was make proportional random sampling. The questionnaire as us to get the data make analysis validity and realiability to check instrument. Analysis was descriptive and factor analysis. The result of this study show 8 factor influence student in choosing Office Administrative in Public Vocational School of Business and Management in Padang ; 1) Ability factor, the total variance is 27,35%. 2) Willingness factor, the total variance is 9,104%. 3) Self Actualization factor, the total variance is 7,047%. 4) Intelligency factor, the total variance is 6,151%. 5) interest factor, the total variance is 5,453%. 6) target factor, the total variance is 5,179%. 7) Creativity in studying factor, the total variance is 4,425%. 8) Self Esteem factor, the total variance is 3,961%. Abstract

The study reports on the analysis of the using multimodal text, especially photographs, in teaching writing recount text in genre-based approach classroom. The study employed a qualitative research design, embracing the characteristics of a case study. The data were obtained from several sources including classroom observations, and students’ texts. The analysis reveals that despite the limitation, the teaching program is successful. The students are able to develop the activities in Background Knowledge of Study (BKOF), Modelling of Text (MOT), Joint Construction of the Text (JCOT), and Independent Construction of the Text (ICOT). The students show positive response to improve their writing ability. The data from observation reveals that the students can follow the activities in the teaching program. The students are able to handle the instruction given by the teacher and discuss them with their classmates. The teacher as the participant observer can bravely describe that the students enjoy the activities and have good enthusiasms to involve in each activity. The analyses show that the students have many progressions toward the implementation of the teaching program. The progressions are observed before the implementation, during, and final writing in the teaching program. Based on the results, the students can develop their ability in terms of the writing concepts. The data support the assumption that multimodal texts help the students to understand and construct the text in a good way.
