Islamic studies is not merely discussing on sacred corpus only, but everyday life of Islam also. In academic space, this field has increasingly been an intersection -if not a contestation- across disciplines, such as political science, anthropology, sociology, history, economics, media, and cultural studies.

Abstract

The position of children as legal subjects will certainly become a problem that needs to be studied in more depth. Children who physically and psychologically still need care and guidance in order to achieve perfect growth, precisely when dealing with the law will certainly experience psychological and even physical changes in a bad direction. In the case of children as legal subjects, there is a difference between Islamic law and positive law in Indonesia because of the different objectives of establishing and enforcing the law itself. To examine this problem, qualitative research methods are used with a normative juridical approach. The data collection technique was carried out using the documentation method, in which data was collected from fiqh literature and laws related to juvenile crimes, then analyzed using the content analysis method. The results of the study show that children according to Islamic law are not subject to criminal punishment because punishment in Islam is imposed on people who are mature (adults), have good sense and criminal acts are not carried out by force. However, in Islam if a child performs jarimah, a ta'zir punishment will be imposed as guidance and teaching for the child. Meanwhile, according to positive laws in Indonesia, the punishment system is different from adults.

Abstract

Islamic civilization has contributed significantly to the advancement of world science. This statement is revealed from the many Muslim scientists who contributed significantly to various scientific discoveries in every field, which inspired European scientists. In addition, the science developed also has its uniqueness and Islamic characteristics. The number of Muslim scientists and the development of science in the Islamic world raises a question of how science teaching is done in the Islamic world and what kind of science is taught. This research aims to reveal the uniqueness of science teaching applied in the history of Islamic civilization by analyzing the book Muqaddimah by Ibn Khaldun. This research is descriptive qualitative research with a literature review approach. The results found that the uniqueness of science teaching in Islamic civilization is centered on faith in Allah, not denying and involving the role of God in science teaching. The method applied in teaching science is done in stages (at-tadrij), repeating lessons (at-takrir) and developing them with experience and experimentation (at-tajribi). The science teaching strategy applied is establishing an authoritative teacher, understanding the learner's thinking and readiness, emphasizing teaching based on objectives, and simplifying instruction.

Abstract

This paper aims to determine the role of the Medina charter as a role model in the Indonesian context. The Medina Charter and the Constitution in force in Indonesia both have the function of regulating a heterogeneous society. However, the results of the implementation of the two are very contradictory. The rise of religious problems in Indonesia has led to the assumption that the constitution is unable to accommodate the interests of the whole society. This type of research uses qualitative methods with data collection techniques in the form of interviews and virtual observations. For secondary data used is a literature review approach by comparing various reading materials. This approach is able to provide arguments and reveal problems in a scientific and actual way. The results of the research show that the construction of messages in the Medina charter is oriented towards social and cultural values so that it creates synergy between religious communities. The message of moderation contained in the Medina charter places the principles of humanity with religion as a moral force.

Abstract

Krajan Village is a village with a majority Muhammadiyah population located in Banyumas Regency, however one of the institutions under the auspices of Muhammadiyah namely LazisMu Krajan Village is claimed to be in a passive condition, even though LazisMu Krajan Village as an institutional structure is under the auspices of LazisMu Banyumas Regency which is LazisMu with a myriad of achievements, starting from 2018 to 2022 Lazismu Banyumas Regency won several awards as the best amil zakat infak and shodaqoh institution at provincial to national levels. This phenomenon prompted researchers to measure the zakat literacy level of residents and Muhammadiyah sympathizers in Krajan Village and to measure the phenomena that affect the level of zakat literacy. The scope of this research lies in the residents of Krajan Village, Banyumas Regency, the majority of whom are Muhammadiyah sympathizers and members. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with primary data obtained from interviews with Krajan Village residents who are classified as Muhammadiyah members and sympathizers regarding matters related to zakat literacy. The results of this study indicate that the level of literacy among Muhammadiyah residents and sympathizers in Krajan Village is still classified as poor in terms of knowledge and practice of zakat, this phenomenon is inseparable from the poor condition of LazisMu in Krajan Village, as evidenced by the poor management of the institution, to the minimal realization of the program. which then significantly affects the literacy quality of the citizens and Muhammadiyah sympathizers. The results of this study can be used as a general description of the literacy quality of the Krajan Village community to be used as a reference in improving professional institutional governance, and increasing the realization of programs for collecting, utilizing, and distributing zakat for LazisMu Krajan Village.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors that have led to changes in Indonesia’s foreign policy, which initially avoided the emergence of a moderate Islamic identity but currently makes efforts to promote it. The research is essential as it sheds light on Indonesia’s foreign policy practices, which have historically refrained from emphasizing an Islamic identity, despite the country’s predominantly Muslim population. Furthermore, this research holds significant importance as it addresses the negative perceptions of Islam, which have often associated it with terrorism, intolerance, and opposition to peace, particularly from Western perspectives. In this study, the researchers utilized a qualitative descriptive method employing content analysis techniques to analyze the collected data. The examination of Indonesia’s foreign policy reveals its aspirations to pursue international interests by actively engaging in maintaining global peace and prioritizing a moderate Islamic identity. This study concludes that a moderate Islamic identity, as a facet of identity, is not inherently problematic or conflict-ridden; rather, it has the potential to bridge the divide between the West and Islam. Moreover, Western countries express their desire to cultivate networks of moderate Islam and view Indonesia as a competent partner in countering global terrorist networks. This cooperation stems from the shared principles of democracy and respect for human rights upheld by both the West and Indonesia.
