<![CDATA[Culture is always evolving and changing to follow the society development. The result alwaysleaves footstep in the form of value or artifacts. The character design in the past was amanifestation of the people culture as expression value in the form of artifacts, one of theforms is anthropomorphic characters. Meanwhile, in the modern era the realization comes inmany forms; for instance movies, comics, and novels with a variety of designs. This embodimentcannot be separated from the cultural values as a constituent. The object is understood asa truth because it becomes a cultural myth. This paper attempts to interpret the phenomenonof design objects in the form of character anthropomorphic as a design object.]]>

<![CDATA[The focus of the research is to explore creativity in the application of linking techniquesto improve English fluency in order to increase the understanding of the English languagethrough the medium of television news. The method used is a combination betweendemonstrations and simulations method, based on experiences through reading andlistening skills. Simultaneously both these skills are applied in the instructional processin the classroom by using English-language news items from Voice of America SpecialEducation Report. The result of this study is that technique of linking is found in theEnglish News presented in television. Linking technique was applied to the type ofconsonant-vowel as well as the vowel-vowel. Consonant-vowel found in more thanthe vowel-vowel. The more linking technique found the more it makes a rapid speechin the case of presenting English news. By knowing the characteristics of the applicationof the technique linking, it is expected that Indonesian audience in general and studentof television study program in particular can understand the news more easily.]]>

<![CDATA[Nowadays urban landscape has been in the talks of the people. Basically, urban landscapephotography is not a novelty, because it has similarity in the techniques with streetphotography. The urban landscape photography captures object and moment in thescope of a cityscape or urban life. The street photography technique is considered as asimple method to capture all that happens within an urban setting. With using alternativeentertainment as objects in the urban landscape photography, the photographer triesto express simplicity that is felt spontaneous but carry information or messages for theaudiences. Other sides of urban life in the big city have so many interesting things thatcan be expressed using photography.]]>

<![CDATA[Film is a collaborative work that combines multiple art forms. Every form of art donatesrespective roles and supports each other. Film is created as a means of communicationvia meaningful visual language and affirmed-narrative. A film raises aesthetic values andmeaning by offering interpretation from its audience. The story telling throughchoreography on the step of post-production (editing) will bring new meaning, it makesa dance film more superior than the performances of casual dance. Dance has becomea means of creating a depth of meaning on purpose to be conveyed. By using a semiotictheory, a “Socerres From Dirah†dance film which has rural setting can be perceivedthrough culture and religion of rural communities. Of the signs systems (signifier/expression and signified/contents), it has obtained connotative meaning of the effort,praying and expression of excitement for all the work done by rural communities inmaking a living for his family.]]>

Animation has evolved from 2D animation to the nextstage in the new form, more realistic and interesting, that is the 3D animation. With thedevelopment of existing technology, the 3D animation is more amazing for the audience,especially 3D animation combined with real action (live action). <![CDATA[Old building representing the indies colony was abandoned in several heritage districtsin Yogyakarta. The Government did not conduct a serious plan and act to conservethe heritage buildings based on the rules of heritage law. The old buildings in Yogyakartahas been mostly over 50th years old, and they have been considered as the heritagebuildings based on the Yogyakarta’s history and the unique architecture. The Governmentand society should be concerned to conserve the heritage buildings in the self ways orcollaborate. This documentary video is one of the efforts of conserving the heritagebuilding in Yogyakarta.]]>

<![CDATA[TATV is local television pioneer in Surakarta which has tried to present programs thatare beneficial and interesting for the community. Its existence provides an alternativeoption for the Local Government of Surakarta (Pemerintah Kota Surakarta) in the useof mass media as media publications, especially TATV news programs. This study aimedto assess whether TATV news programs affect to policies of the Local Government ofSurakarta in the prioritization of the use of the mass media as a means of publicationor not. This study was a qualitative descriptive research and the data analysis used theinteractive model. From the research that has been conducted showing that the newsprograms “Fokus Kita†in TATV can affect to policy of the Local Government of Surakartain terms of the changing in percentage in the use of mass media and changing in the useof funds allocation for the mass media as a means of publication.]]>

<![CDATA[Movie is one of mediums for delivering messages communicatively and easily acceptablefor the society. The creativity of filmmaker has caused a rapid increase in the amount ofmovies, and further it indirectly lead to the increase in necessity of space for appreciationactivities. It can be concluded that movie theatre is one of the appreciation media thatis highly favored by the movie-favored-society. There are two types of movie theatres,mainstream and non-mainstream movie theatre. A mainstream movie theatre is the 21network movie theatre, while the non-mainstream movie theatre consists of filmfestivals, discussions, and workshops. A movie theatre is an alternative medium formovie appreciation. By the movie theatre which is able to attract audiences, it can befigured out how far the movie theatre is able to become appreciation medium for thesociety. As we know that there are lots of other appreciation mediums such as VCD,DVD and internet that are growing in the society, so the functional approach can helpto find the answers in the growth of a movie theatre as movie appreciation medium.]]>
