Abstract

The uswah approach as one of the supervision models in improving PAI (Islamic Education) teachers’ performance is one of the approaches which is based on uswah values as the basic principles in working and serves as a moral force for the supervisors in running their main tasks and functions to supervise PAI teachers. The problem found in the field is that PAI supervisors do not show the attitude and behavior of uswah when supervising, guiding, and improving PAI teachers’ performance. This study is performed in a descriptive design with a qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, interview, and documentary study meanwhile data analysis was performed by referring to Miles and Huberman which consist of data reduction, computation, and drawing conclusions. In addition, the validity of data was examined through the triangulation of sources, methods, and theories. The result of the study pointed that PAI supervisors have established some uswah values in running the main tasks and functions to supervise PAI teachers through several models of the uswah approach, namely, adorning self with nobility, providing great, friendly, and fair services, guiding and providing advice, and being shy and maintaining self-respect. Whereas the model of doing kindness starting from oneself has not been optimally applied by PAI supervisors so that their attitudes and behavior improving the work performance of PAI teachers are decreasing.

Abstract

Developing students’ code of ethics is part of the main duties and functions of teachers as educators and instructors in schools. The study of this thesis aimed to investigate the socialization ways of the students’ code of ethics, the methods used in developing the students’ code of ethics, and the obstacles indeveloping the students’ code of ethics faced by thehomeroomteachers of MIN (Islamic elementary schools) in Banda Aceh downtown. This study used a descriptive qualitative research design. Data collection techniques included observation, interview, and documentation study. The subjects of the study were the principals and the homeroom teachers of MIN 4, MIN 5, and MIN 6 in Banda Aceh. The results of the study showed that first, the principals and the homeroom teachers have always tried to socialize the students’code of ethics, either through the preparation of the program at the beginning of the school year or through the pamphlets displayed in places seen by everyone in the schools. In addition, the teachers have made an agreement with the students by listing some violations and rewards in the classrooms. All of these aimed to foster the students’code of ethics in order to improve the quality of character education at MIN Banda Aceh. Second, the homeroom teachers applied persuasive and educativemethods and techniquesin fostering the code of ethics for the students. These werecarried out by distributing brochures at the beginning of the school year for the first year students, creating an educational slogan, and putting the school code of ethics on pamphlets. The other methods used were being role models, direct reprimanding, providing suggestions for more polite and respectful attitudes, communicating effectively, and giving rewards and educative sanctions. And third, the obstacles encountered by the teachers in the development of the students’ code of ethics included the lack of religious education in the family, limited time for the teachers to conduct optimal supervision on the code of ethics for the students, the size of the classroom, and the immature age of the students. However, the teachers have made efforts to overcome allof these obstacles properly. If there are some issues related to the students’ code of ethics, they will make appropriate measures in order to reduce the obstacles.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the contrast between Arabic and Sambas Malay both at school and home of the Koran teacher. The method used in this research is qualitative research. The approach taken is descriptive based on interviews and in-depth observations at the research location. The location of the study was conducted in Seburing Village, Semparuk District, Sambas Regency, West Kalimantan Province, Indonesia. The selection of Seburing Village as a research location is because Malay people in Sambas are still not fluent in Arabic pronunciation and are brought in by mother tongue or Malay language Sambas. The results of this study indicate that the difficulty in speaking Sambas Malay in reciting Arabic, there are both vowel and consonant language sounds that have similarities and make students in MIS Nurul Huda or at the house of the teacher of the Koran experience errors, especially pronunciation.

Abstract

Moral is a very important issue in the life of mankind nowadays, especially for children who are still in the growth phase and even more for children who lack attention from their families, such as orphans and broken home children. This is why caregivers in orphanages play a role in fostering the children morals. The purpose of this research was to determine the extent of moral development performed by the caregivers of Kinderhut Indonesia Orphanage in Indrapuri in improving the children's morals. This field research employed qualitative research approach. Data collection was conducted by interview, observation, and documentation. The data were then analyzed by data reduction, data display, and verification to draw conclusions. The respondents of the research consisted of the head of the orphanage, several caregivers and children residing in the orphanage. The results indicated that first, the ability of the caregivers in developing the children’s morals included knowing the nature and characters of the children, communicating well and politely, acting in accordance with religious norms, planning the development program, and being responsible for the children. Second, the coaching methods applied by caregivers were role modeling, habituation, giving advice, storytelling, and promises and punishments. Third, the supporting factors in fostering morals of the children involved a conducive orphanage environment, a religious community environment, and good cooperation between the caregivers and the management of the orphanage. On the other hand, the inhibiting factors were the diverse background of the children and the lack of caregivers. This research is expected to provide benefits to all caregivers in orphanages throughout Indonesia about children's moral development, to the Social Office, to pay more attention to the caregivers in the orphanages, one of which is by providing regular training on the character development of children, and to the universities for sharing knowledge with any caregivers in orphanages and providing enlightenment to them in guiding the morals of children.

Abstract

Textbook is important for student as main media in learning Arabic and significant to teacher for teaching besides suitable method in order to achieve necessary result, is the textbooks, however, must be fit students’ level of capability and nahwu al-wadhih is one of effective textbooks for any students’ level since it offers practical study which goes along with istinbathiyah method. Thus the writer is interested in conduct research that concerns on application of nahwu al-wadhihin Darul Hikmah boarding school, and decided to entitle this research as “effectiveness in using nahwu al-wadhih and istinbathiyah method to improve students’ understanding in Arabic grammar”. The aim of this study is to reveal the effectiveness of using nahwu al-wadhih and istinbathiyah method in Darul Hikmah boarding school and to disclose students’ responses toward Arabic grammar using nahwu al-wadhih and istinbathiyah method in DarulHikmah boarding school. This research uses a quasi-experimental design method. Research instruments for this research are interview along with pre-test and post-test. Result of study indicates that using nahwu al-wadhih and istinbathiyah method is effective to improve students’ understanding in learning Arabic grammar in DarulHikmah and students’ responses in learning Arabic grammar using nahwu al-wadhih and istinbathiyah method in Darul Hikmah are enthusiastic and excited.

Abstract

The book hold the most crucial part in learning process which contain knowledges, and ideas in certain things. It main source of knowledge used by teacher and students. Khulashah Nurul Yaqin book is one of the books which is used at DarulUlum Islamic Boarding School to enhance students' reading skills. The book consists of three volumes, which is printed on opaque papers. It contains a collection of passages that narratethe history of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), as well as questions about the passages. An uninteresting book may be a reason that makes students demotivated in learning. This problem may be solved by using pictures to trigger students' motivation. Therefore, the writer wants to develop Khulashah NurulYaqin book with pictures. The purpose of this research is to find out about the development process of utilizing pictures in Khulashah Nurul Yaqin book, research obstacles, and the results of using pictures to develop Khulashah Nurul Yaqin book. This study uses the Research and Development method as its research method. Tests, questionnaires, and interviews are research instruments used to obtain the research data, while T-Test Related is used as an instrument to analyse the obtained data. This study is conducted in accordance to the determined measures in this research and development method. The result of this study shows that using pictures to develop KhulasahNurulYaqin book is effective to increase students' comprehension in Tarikh learning.

Abstract

The scientific approach in teaching and learning process involves five steps: observing, questioning, gathering information, processing information, and communicating. However, most Islamic religious education (PAI) teachers still do not fully understand the implementation of the scientific approach which characterizes the 2013 curriculum. The implementation of the scientific approach in PAI lessons at SMA Negeri (public senior high school) 2 Sigli has been pursued in several steps, yet there are still some inhibiting factors that need to be improved in order to increase the students’ learning activity. The study of this thesis focused on the implementation, the steps, and the supporting and inhibiting factors of the scientific approach used to improve the students' activity in learning PAI in SMA Negeri 2 Sigli ofPidie District. The study employed a qualitative descriptive research design. Data were collected by observation, interview, and documentation. The results showed that the PAI learning has been implemented by employing the 2013 curriculum and a scientific model. The school has tried to improve the discipline and the order,optimize the learning hours, learnby scientific steps, improve the students' activity by asking them toengage in the teaching-learning processi.e.,group discussions, hands-on practice. Besides, teachers provided concrete examples related to the scientific approach model. The steps of the scientific approach werecarried out by stimulating the students on the concepts being taught, stimulating the students to ask about the concepts, facilitating the students in collecting various information related to the concepts, guiding the students to build arguments from the concepts, and guiding the students to conclude the concepts. Further, the supporting factors came from the students’ activity in learning, competent teachers, supporting facilities and infrastructure, as well as various learning methods. On the other hand, the inhibiting factors included inadequate facilities such as limited technological support tools, limited teaching time allocation, and lack of teachers including the PAI teachers adapting to the scientific approach model.

Abstract

In the past decade, at least there are five types of dayah have developed in Aceh. These five types of dayah apply different teaching patterns to their students. The first type is the traditional one, which maintains the old pattern in educating the students. The second type is modern dayah; in this dayah, the learning pattern is planned and refers to the specified curriculum. The third type is a kind of dayah, which combines traditional and modern learning systems. In this dayah, students are not required to stay overnight. They are allowed to go home. The fourth style is the dayah of tahfizul Quran; in this dayah, the students only focus on studying and memorizing the Quran. Furthermore, the fifth style of dayah is the dayah of tahfizul Quran and hadith, where the students at this dayah focused on memorizing the Qur'an and the hadith. The last two features of the dayah are developing rapidly in Aceh. This study employs a qualitative approach. For data needs, the researcher conducted the interview, observation, and documentation. This study found that Acehnese people in several regions showed that they were still very interested in traditional dayahs, even though the current modern dayah increasingly grows in Aceh. Secondly, modern dayahs that apply different learning patterns cause many parents to be more interested in modern dayahs. Thirdly, the emergence of the dayah Tahfizul Quran and Tahfizul Hadith become a new choice for parents to encourage their children to become memorizers of the Quran and hadith.

Abstract

The effective and efficient of Diniyyah Learning Management Program is one of the supporting factors to achieve the learning objectives of diniyah program to produce a generation that is able to read al-Quran and has a true Aqidah and morality. The purpose of this research is to know the planning, implementation and evaluation of learning diniyyah program at SDIT Nurul Ishlah Banda Aceh. This research uses descriptive method with qualitative approach. Data collection technique is done through interview, observation and documentation. The subjects of this research are principal, head of diniyah program and teachers of diniyah at SDIT Nurul Ishlah Banda Aceh. The results showed that: 1) the learning plan of diniyah program prepared by diniyyah teachers is still many deficiencies, the teachers only prepare the material and the learning method. The Learning Implementation Plan is not written. 2) the Implementation of diniyah learning program implemented in SDIT Nurul Ishlah Banda Aceh has been done systematically and used various learning methods, so as to create a conducive and fun learning atmosphere; but in the use of learning media, many teachers only use the media in the classroom as learning, without presenting a variety of learning media. 3) the evaluation of diniyah teachers in SDIT Nurul Ishlah has been done systematically by evaluating the process and evaluating the learning outcomes at the end of each semester. The evaluation is done in the form of written test and practice test, and attitude evaluation through observation, and finally the evaluation results are given to each student in the form of a learning result report.

Abstract

Islamic Education is one of the required core courses in governmental and private schools in the Sultanate of Oman. This research paper gives an overview over the governmental curriculum for Islamic education, grades 5 to 7, and in how far it considers diversity in its different features. It looks into the ways and methodology used, as well as the design and topics of learning units, with a focus on the means used to integrate diversity on different levels.
