Abstract

Innovation in academic environment is the urgent thing that university must be done in this era. There are many innovative strategies that can be done in academic environment. One of the strategies is proposing new department that community needs in global era. This article will discuss about innovative strategy in proposing English Department based on local wisdom and strength of university. It is kind of research article that uses Narrative Inquiry. The researcher writes narratively and academicly the strategy in proposing English Department. He tries to do need analysis by using observation and unstructered interview. Based on the observation and unstructered interview, the researcher creates academic Draft, then he presented the academic draft at International Conference on Linguistics, ELT, and Literature (ICOLEL). At last, he revised the academic draft for proposing English Department as Final Draft academically. This research article be useful for institution that will develop instittuion academically. This kind of article can be used as a model for academician in creating innovative way at academic environment.

Abstract

Studying in university is still using asynchronous during online speaking courses due to technology development and practical consideration. This research aims to analyze the students' perception and the effect of using videos in speaking courses using asynchronous mode. This research used the quantitative research method. The instruments are used questionnaires and tests. The finding shows that the university's students have a positive perception of asynchronous learning mode, and the use of videos, as learning material, have a large effect size on the students’ ability to speak during asynchronous mode. It means the use of video can be recommended to teach speaking in the classroom.

Abstract

Language is an activity that people do to express their feelings and the means to communicate with others in the daily activity primally in socializing with people around. This day many people already speak use two language or more where code switching also give a role in language changes. Code switching is not only found in the surrounding environment but also in an interview, social media, novels or a song. This time the writer focuses on Cinta Laura Khiel podcast with DeddyCorbuzier, Boy William, Chef Juna and AzkaCorbuzer. The purpose of this study is to know what is the dominant type and factor of code switching that appear in Cinta Laura Khiel podcast. This study is use qualitative descriptive method to collect the data. The writer use theory from Brown to analyze the type of code switching, the writer also use theory from Hoffman to analyze the factor of code switching, the most dominant type is inter-sentential switching with 173 data, the most dominant factor is repetition for clarification with 47 data.

Abstract

The aims of this study were To find out the Development of Interactive Learning Media Using Quiz Bot Telegram in the second semester Intermediate Listening Course at UNIROW Tuban. This research used Research and Development (R&D) model ADDIE. The subject of this study was an intermediate student listening course of English education in the second semester Unirow with 15 students. The techniques of data collection questionnaire technique. The data analysis used is quantitative data analysis. The results of the research get the percentage of material expert validation obtained 90% results, media expert validation obtained 92% results, then student respondents got 96% results which indicated the "very wothy" criteria. Based on the results of research, it can be concluded that the development of interactive learning media based on Telegram Quiz make students interested and feel positive about using this interactive learning media based on Telegram Quiz Bo in learning process.
