Abstract

Tapioca industries produced liquid waste containing substantial amount of starch that can be used as a source of carbon. Considering its relatively high carbon content, the liquid waste of tapioca production can be used as a raw material of nata de cassava. This study was aimed to elucidate financial feasibility of nata de cassava production at PT Sumber Timur, Dampit, Malang. The financial feasibility parameters included Break Even Point, Payback Period, RCR, Net BCR, Net Present Value and Internal Rate of Return. The information and assumptions for financial analysis were: liquid waste of tapioca was about 500 l/day, 1 kg cassava pulp produced 8,27 l liquid waste, from 500 kg fermented liquid waste of tapioca, taken 50 kg for starter, rendement = 99,54%, lifetime of the factory was 10 years, Price was increased 4%/ years started from third years, product was sold 100% from 1st - 10th years, production cost was increased 4%/ years started from third years. Results of this study indicated that production capacity for 1 year was 179.160,00 kg, the price was Rp. 1.112,21/ kg, production of nata de cassava from liquid waste of tapioca was financially feasible with NPV (18%)=Rp. 130.082.978,55, BEP = 26.015,29 kg or Rp. 28.934.382,83 or 15%; IRR 37%, Payback Period 4,14 years, Net BCR 1,02 and RCR 1,56

Abstract

The objective of the experiment was to elucidate the effect of pollard utilization on the layer diets and the addition of critical amino acid to produce the eggs with lower content of cholesterol. The experiment used in the study with 315 Lohman strain were randomly limited in to 7 treatments in 7 replications with 15 birds each. The treatments were: R0 (control diet without pollard and without critical of AA), R1 (10% pollard + 50% critical of AA), R2 (10% pollard + 100% critical of AA), R3 (20% pollard + 50% critical of AA), R4 (20% pollard + 100% critical of AA), R5 (30%pollard + 50% critical of AA), R6 (30% pollard + 100% critical of AA). The results showed that the utilization of pollard with amino acid addition had given no significant different on production and eggs quality. The exception result was in yolk color had significantly different. It can be concluded that the treatment of 30% with amino acid addition resulted better production and egg quality

Abstract

The solid waste at PT Kertas Leces Probolinggo has not been properly handled as it is just ended in the waste landfill. Composting is a method to process the solid waste with a high organic content. In that process the organic agent is degraded by micro organism that driving to stabilize the organic content. In this research effective micro organism (EM4) was used as a disspator organism in some range of concentrate (2,4,6,8,10) (%) v/b and observed in 5,10,15,20,25 days composting time. The best result was reached on the concentrate of 2 % EM4 & 25 days decomposting time, with the rasio C/N = 14,11 (most land has rasio indicator C/N closed to 10) comparing to the previous grade = 33,24.

Abstract

This research was aimed at understanding and examining plantlet response to Kepok Banana in various doses of gamma ray radiation. Single Complete Random Planning was employed with 5 levels of gamma ray radiation doses. These five treatments comprised to 0 krad (A); 2.5 krad (B); 5.0 krad (C); 7.5 krad (D); and 10.0 krad (E). Every treatment had 5 replications. Each replication had 2 bottles such that 50 bottles emerge for a unit of experiment. The observation involved parameters such as shooting period, number of shoot, number of leaf, shoot height, plantlet stem, rooting period, number of leaf chlorophyll, and esterase iso enzyme tape pattern. Results of research indicated that gamma ray radiation doses affected its morphology characteristics (shooting period, number of shoot, number of leaf, shoot height, and number of leaf chlorophyll) and its genetic characteristics (esterase iso enzyme tape pattern from leaf). Dose of 2.50 krad gamma ray was able to produce mutant-based Kepok Banana shown by different morphology and genetic characteristics from original seed. Doses of 5.0, 7.5, and 10.0 krad gamma ray radiations had harmful effect on plantlet of Kepok Banana

Abstract

A glasshouse experiment was conducted to judge the beneficial effects of Gliricidia sepium and Tithonia diversifolia composts on plant growth improvement, P availability and reduction of aluminium concentration in an Ultisol. Thirteen treatments consisting of two composts, six rates of each compost (5, 7.5, 10, 20, 40 and 80 t/ha) and one control (no added compost) were arranged in a randomized block design with three replicates. Each mixture of compost and soil was placed in a pot containing 8 kg of soil, and maize of Srikandi cultivar was grown on it for 45 days. At harvest, plant P content, soil pH, and soil aluminium concentration were measured. Results of this study showed that application of Gliricidia and Tithonia composts significantly reduced Alo concentration, increased Alp content, increased soil pH, increased P availability, and increased P taken up by maize grown for 45 days. The optimum rate of both Gliricidia and Tithonia composts should be 45 t/ha. However, at the same rate, optimum production gained by application of Tithonia compost would be higher than that of Gliricidia. This was due primary to the difference contents of humid acid and fulvic acid of the composts
