Abstract

Teeth bleaching is one of the treatments for teeth discolouration. Teeth bleaching can do in-home or in-office. The material for that use in-office bleaching is 35% hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide is a chemical compound that is tough and has a micro molecule that can easily penetrate enamel tissue and dentin tissue. Bleaching with hydrogen peroxide in-office is now more attractive because can be faster to see the result. Bleaching with hydrogen peroxide when done repeat will make teeth more sensitive, and damage enamel tissue and dentin tissue.  The objective of this study is to know the influence of in-office bleaching using 35% hydrogen peroxide on microhardness enamel.  This research is made with a literature review with search engine google scholar, PubMed, and science direct. The results of 10 articles show the effectiveness of teeth discolouration after bleaching using 35% hydrogen peroxide in-office.  The reduction in enamel microhardness seen using SEM, knob and Vickers is visible although not significant. Based on the literature review research that has been carried out, it can be concluded that there is a reduction in enamel hardness after the in-office bleaching process by using 35% hydrogen peroxide.

Abstract

The role of Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans bacteria can lead to the occurrence of aggressive periodontitis. The bacterium infects periodontal tissue with its virulence factor. Antibacterial administration such as chlorhexidine mouthwash is one of the treatments for periodontal disease due to bacteria. Long-term use of chlorhexidine can cause irritation of the oral mucosa, burning sensation, changes in taste perception and the appearance of stains on the teeth. One alternative is to gargle the guava leaf extract water. The antibacterial effect of guava leaf extract is obtained from its chemical compounds, namely flavonoids, phenolics, alkaloids, ethanol and tannins. This research aims to know the potential of water guava leaf extract (Syzygium aqueum) in inhibiting the growth of Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans bacteria.  A literature review by reviewing research articles from Science Direct and Google Scholar using the keywords "Syzygium aqueum and Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans".   Guava leaves contain many derivatives of compounds such as flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, saponins, and terpenoids. The content of these compounds can be used as antibacterial because they are effective in inhibiting the growth of bacteria.  Water guava leaf extract (Syzygium aqueum) can inhibit the growth of Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans bacteria.

Abstract

Background. In the Philippines, although software for Electronic Health Records (EHRs) is still new, knowledge about EHRs benefits is increasing. Objective: This study investigated the effectiveness of electronic health records to health care outcomes at selected health facilities in the National Capital Region (NCR) and CALABARZON regions of the Philippines. The effectiveness of the current EHRs in government and private health facilities were determined in terms of quality patient care, patient engagement, support team-based care, workload, and data liquidity; and the challenges facing health providers in the implementation of electronic health records were identified.Methods. The research utilized the descriptive, cross-sectional design. Three hundred seven (N=307) health providers from the medical, nursing, and paramedical departments were the study participants. A three-part adapted questionnaire was the main tool used for data collection. Mean, standard deviation, and Mann-Whitney & Kruskal-Wallis’s tests were utilized for data analysis.Results. The results revealed that in the Philippines, EHRs are moderately effective in improving health care outcomes. EHRs effectiveness is primarily achieved through better access and retrieval of health information. EHRs implementation poses major challenges in the Philippines’ health facilities which are central to socio-economic and organizational factors.Conclusions. The more effective the use of EHR systems, the greater the challenges experienced by care providers and health facilities.

Abstract

The term burden of care has been widely used in current nursing reference sources, but the definition of the concept of the burden of caring for caregivers of people with Schizophrenia has never been studied. Therefore, this article aims to analyze and provide relevant information related to the caregiver burden of people with Schizophrenia. This literature study uses an electronic article search tool from several online database sources such as (CINAHL (Cumulative Index for Nursing and Allied Health), PubMed, Google Scholar, Cochrane Library), health official websites (both non-government or government), and dictionaries. This analytical study adopts the principles of Walker and Avant to identify the attributes, antecedents, and consequents of this concept. This study has identified the attributes, antecedents, and consequences of the concept of caregiver burden of people with Schizophrenia. The attributes include Unequal distribution of responsibilities, persistent fatigue, and perception. Meanwhile, the antecedents are a lack of formal and informal social support, the conflict of various duties, and limited social activities. The last, in this study, has revealed the concept's negative consequences, including decreased quality of care, poor quality of life, and physical and psychological problems. A clear understanding of the caregiver burden of people with Schizophrenia has been defined. The results of this study can be used as a knowledge base for scientific development to improve the quality of nursing interventions, especially for caregivers of people with Schizophrenia.

Abstract

Maternal health literacy (MHL) equips pregnant women to seek timely Antenatal care (ANC). Through ANC, health workers can provide education that contributes to reducing the maternal mortality rate. This research aims to investigate the relationship between MHL and adherence to recommended ANC contacts and explore how mothers experience accessing ANC. The study design was a mixed-method study. A total of 305 pregnant women with various characteristics participated in this study. Quantitative data analysis used simple linear regression, while qualitative used Collaizi's strategy. The research found a positive relationship between MHL and adherence to recommended ANC contact with R2 = 0.18; F(1, 303) = 6.533, p < 0.05. Three themes represented the phenomenon of pregnant women in carrying out ANC: 1) perceptions about ANC, 2) challenges faced by pregnant women in accessing recommended ANC contact, and 3) supporting factors in doing routine ANC contact. Pregnant women with higher MHL have higher adherence to ANC contact. Health workers and policymakers can involve the results of this research in efforts to revise or make policies related to increasing pregnant women's ANC contacts.
