Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore problem-solving abilities based on the level of mathematical connections built by STKIP YPUP Makassar students. This research is a qualitative explorative research based on task-based interview. The subjects of the study were STKIP YPUP students who programmed linear courses. This type of problem is developed based on the characteristics of mathematical connections according to NCTM, ie connections between mathematical topics, connections with other disciplines, and connections in everyday life. Data collection was done through semi-structured interview process to 2 subjects selected by purposive sampling technique. The results showed by establishing a high connection then Students are able to perform the problem-solving process well.

Abstract

This qualitative research was conducted at Junior High School students and aimed to examine students' mathematical errors in subject matter of addition operation of algebraic shapes. The subjects of this research were class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Tinambung, Polman, Sulawesi Barat which made the most error variations. This research found that students make mathematical errors in completing the sum of Algebra operating problems. These errors include the errors in fractional addition operands, algebraic forms, and algebraic operations form. Furthermore, it is found that the mistakes made by the students in solving the problem were related to met-before students.

Abstract

This research is an experimental research which observed the influence of the use of exploratory method in improving mathematics learning outcomes in the students of Class IX of SMP Negeri 5 Campalagian. The sampling technique used in this research is random sampling. Sample determination was done randomly from 3 classes with 99 a population, each class has the same chance of being sampled. IXB class as experimental class taught by using exploration method with 25 students and IXA class as control class taught by using conventional learning, there is 25 people of learn. Each class is taught in the same frequency of meetings and on the same subject. The experimental class uses exploratory method and control class using conventional approach. The results of mathematics learning are obtained on prêt-test and post-test. Thus, in the experimental class obtained prêt-test average score of 56.00 while the post-test of 75.40. In the control class obtained the average score of pre-test of 61.40 while in the post-test of 67.60. Judging from the average result of the students showed a significant difference, seen from the results of hypothesis testing obtained value of 2.136, while for the value of which means that, it can be said that there is a different application of exploratory methods with the application of conventional methods of mathematics learning outcomes in participants Students Class IX SMP Negeri 5 Campalagian.

Abstract

Purposed to improve students' mathematics learning outcomes of Class X SMA Negeri 2 Makassar through the implementation of Quantum Learning method. The subjects of this research were 40 students of Class X.4 SMA Negeri 2 Makassar in Even Semester 2014/2015. The first cycle was held 6 times and the second cycle as well. Data retrieval was done by using learning outcome test and observation at each end of the cycles according to the lesson. Based on the results of data analysis obtained that qualitatively, some changes occurred. Students showed enthusiasm to follow the lesson, as well as interest and motivation to learn is improved. While the quantitative increase in the average score of students learning outcomes at the first cycle is 7.16 with a standard deviation is 1.09 to 8.14 with a standard deviation is 0.91 at the second cycle. It means that the result of students’ mathematic learning through the implementation of Quantum Learning method is increased.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the question of the mid term exam in geometry course. Focusing on the level of difficulty, validity, and reability. This research is evalution qualitative research conducting in mathematic education departement. The quantitative data that was taken from th answer sheet of students was analyzed by using descriptive statistic. The results revealed that: (1) the level difficulty of questions number 2, 3 is very hard and 5 is hard, number 1 is average, and number 4 is low , (2) the validity of all question ( number 1 through 5 ) is valid with different level of validity, (3) the reability of questions is in average, in terms of difficulty level, most questions are difficult, it is affected the reability of the items examination that is in average level.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the contribution of principals‟leadership, teach-ers‟ work motivation, and school culture on the discipline of senior high school students and vocational high school students in Polewali Mandar, Sulawesi Barat. This study was an expost facto study. The research subjects consisted of all 425 senior high school teachers in Polewali Mandar Regency, Sulawesi Barat and a sample of 193 was established using the proportionate cluster random sampling technique. The data were collected by means of a questionnaire and analyzed using the multiple regression technique to test the research hypotheses. The results of this study show that there is positive and significant contribution of: (1)the principals‟ transformational leadership on the discipline of the students as much as 39.8%; (2) the teachers‟ work motivation on the students‟ discipline as much as 20,7%; (3) the school culture on the discipline of the students as much as 38%; (4) principals‟ leadership, teachers‟ work motivation, and school culture as an aggregate on the students‟ discipline much as 52.6%. This indicates that if principals‟leadership, teachers‟ work motivation, and school culture are enhanced in quality, they will have positive contributions to senior high school teachers and vocational high school teachers in Polewali Mandar, Sulawesi Barat.

Abstract

This research was conducted to find out whether or not the use of songs improve the students’ vocabulary to the first semester students of language education at Al Asyariah Mandar University. The research was an experimental design with Gay et all., design. The researcher uses census system the population was the the first semester students, all of the population was taken as sample. The number of population were about 58 students spread in three classes namely class A and class B. The students was chosen as the sample of the research were 32 students at experiment class and 26 students at control class. This research conducted at language education to the first semester students of Al Asyariah Mandar University at West Sulawesi 2016 academic year. The data of the students’ achievement were collected by using pretest and posttest. The data obtained through the test were subjected to paired sample t test for dependent sample to see the significant difference in the pre-test and post-test. These data were then analyzed quantitatively using paired samples t-test to see the significance different for each aspects and all aspects in the pretest and posttest. The findings of the study indicated that the result of post-test was significantly higher than that of pre-test. This means that using songs in teaching English contributed to the students Vocabulary.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the extent to which Curriculum 2013 improved learning process in classroom compared to KTSP 2006 according to teachers’ perceptions. In addition, this study aimed to determine the teachers’ response to this new curriculum as well as to find out what difficulties they face in relation to the implementation of this curriculum in school. This research was combine quantitative research and qualitative research. This research used sequential explanatory design where the first phase used quantitative method and the second phase used qualitative method. As a data-gathering instrument, questionnaires and direct interviews were used to find out more about teachers' perceptions about curriculum 2013. To make the scope less extensive, this study was limited to math teachers in the upper secondary school. The samples in this study were two Senior School and two Vocational School, namely SMAN 1 Majene, SMAN 3 Majene, SMKN 2 Majene and SMKN 5 Majene. From the quantitative research, it is found that in general, teachers’ response to curriculum 2013 is positive, with the total average value is 3.82 and is in agreed category range. While from the qualitative research, it is found that in implementation of curriculum 2013 in schools teachers get some obstacles such as their student lack of readiness with the learning model in the curriculum, incomplete facilities and infrastructure, and lack of socialization about the curriculum. Meanwhile, from the credibility test results, it is found that the constraints arise from the imbalance between the terms of implementation of curriculum 2013 with the real conditions. To work around this, teachers made casuistic adjustments in the implementation of this curriculum.
