Abstract

Hypertension is a condition characterized by a rise in systemic arterial blood pressure above the threshold/normal value. The incidence of hypertension can increase due to various risk factors. High intake of dietary fats and sodium, and low of intake of fibers, potassium and calcium are some risk factors of hypertension. Inadequate intake of nutrients is often ignored by adolescents because of their irregular eating patterns. This study aim was to determine the relationship between fat, fiber, sodium, potassium and calcium intake with hypertension among adolescent. A cross sectional study has been conducted in Palembang from July to December 2019. A total of 475 samples were taken by proportioned stratified random sampling technique who fulfilled the inclusion criteria. Data was taken by measuring blood pressure and using a food recall questionnaire for 3 days, then it was estimated through the nutrisurvey software. The data were analyzed by chi square test. This study showed that the incidence of hypertension among adolescent was 23.4%. There was no significant relationship between fiber intake (p = 1,000, OR = 1,844), sodium intake (p = 0,255, OR = 1,602) potassium intake (p = 1,000, OR = 1,532) and calcium intake (p = 0,316, OR = 3,750) with hypertension. A significant relationship was found between fat intake and hypertension (p = 0,000, OR = 3,425) among adolescents in Palembang.

Abstract

With the pandemic of Corona Virus [Covid-19], another infectious disease such as Dengue neglected in Indonesia. Since the majority of resources, both human and capital, are focusing more on Covid-19, it is still essential to also manage Dengue as it is still becoming a threat to the community. This study aims to predict the number of cases of Dengue in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. This study area is in Kupang City, East Nusa Tenggara Province, Indonesia. The Data regarding monthly Dengue reported cases by months from January 2010 ? December 2019 in Kupang City collected to describe the temporal patterns of dengue cases. The Box-Jenkins approach used to fit the Auto-Regressive Integrated Moving Average [ARIMA] models. This model will predict monthly dengue cases for the year 2020 [12 months]. Data analyzed using the Minitab program version 18.0. This study shows that seasonality was an essential component for Kupang City, which performed an exploratory analysis of dengue incidence [ln data] for 2010-2019. The linear trend model shows the prediction of dengue cases in 2020 was Yt = 36.9 ? 0.131 x t. The forecast tells that Dengue will remain high for the whole year. Maintaining a clean environment, reduction of breeding sites, and other protective measurements against dengue transmission is significant to perform.Keyword:Covid-19Dengue CasesCases Prediction

Abstract

Mental health disorder could affect the physical, mental, social, and spiritual problems, leading to psychosocial issues such as body-image problem. Body-image is a basic need of human being to fulfill and therefore, the multidisciplinary team; physicians, nurses, and family should have adequate knowledge on the body-image. Increasing knowledge by training the nurses and community health volunteers can be performed to address body-image issues in patients with mental disorders among the community. This study held to identify the effects of community mental health nursing (CMHN) and Self-Concept Assessment Guidelines training on nurse and community health volunteer in increasing the body-image quality of patients with mental disorders. This study used pre and post quasi experimental test with nonequivalent control group design. By comparing the pre-test and post-test scores, nurse’s and community health volunteer’s knowledge were increasing after being given training. Data of body image was collected from 129 patients with mental disorder (treatment group of 69 and control group of 60) as volunteers. After the intervention, treatment group (p= 0.033) and control group (p= 0.075) show that significant increase in the quality of body-image only applies to the treatment group. Providing training on CMHN was effective to improve body-image quality of patients with mental disorders.

Abstract

Disaster is a global issue all around the world, and Indonesia has shifted its disaster mitigation strategies from emergency response to disaster management preparedness. This research analysed factors influencing the preparedness of members of the Indonesian emergency and disaster association (IEDNA) in the face of natural disasters in Indonesia. This research is analytical-observational with a cross-sectional approach. Sampling was performed on a population of 510 member nurses of the IEDNA by the probability sampling technique. Out of the 510 member nurses of the IEDNA, 107 were enrolled in this research. The Fisher’s exact test results show that knowledge had p= 0.001 (p< 0.05), while facilities and infrastructures availability p= 0.000 (p< 0.05), in their effects on nurse preparedness. The multivariate analysis yielded Exp(B) of 0.022 for knowledge and Exp(B) of 0.003 for facilities and infrastructures availability, while the Nagelkerke’s R-squared obtained was 66%. The variable preparedness was largely good, and there were significant relationships of knowledge and facilities and infrastructures availability to the preparedness of members of the IEDNA. The strongest factor was knowledge.

Abstract

The increasing number of elderly on these recent days demands an improved quality of health for the elderly. Independence of the elderly is important in order to be happy and not to be a burden on their families. Health monitoring continuously is an effort to prevent disruption on the health conditions of the elderly. The health status of elderly people is important to know to follow up on prevention programs for the emergence of certain diseases in the elderly. This study aims to look for potential health problems for elderly people in Gamping, Sleman, DIY, Indonesia. The method of this research was cross sectional analysis using secondary data. Sample collection is consecutive subjects. Subjects were 158 people with a mean age of men (67.8 ± 7.1) years while women were 67.5 ± 7.3 years. The data was analyzed using the bivariate correlation test with CI 99%. The results of the analysis showed that the average body mass index with an average waist circumference was positively correlated (r= 0.66; p: 0.000), but did not correlate with systole pressure (r= -0.009; p= 0.97) diastole (r= 0.093; p= 0.477), age (-0.05; p= 0.71), and gender (r= -0.146; p= 0. 27). The potential health problems among the elderly is the risk of high BMI due to the larger waist circumference

Abstract

Obesity is a significant public health crisis affecting millions of children globally. The objective of this study was to identify the prevalence and associated factors of overweight/obesity among school children in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). This was a descriptive cross-sectional study among school children and adolescents (n= 1442) from Kinshasa selected using multistage sampling method. A structured questionnaire was used to collect behavioral data. The WHO AnthroPlus was used to calculate BMI (body mass index). SPSS version 21 was used for data analysis. Potential covariates were examined using chi-square tests followed by multivariate logistic regression analyzes The study found that out of 1442 students, 72% of the sample was at a healthy weight, 15% were underweight and nearly 13% were overweight or obese. The prevalence of overweight and obesity was higher in girls as compared with boys. The results of multivariate logistic regressions showed that the gender of children, category of age, percent body fat, eating fruits and vegetables, and physical activity levels were significantly associated with childhood overweight/obesity. One in eight children and adolescents (12.8%) aged 6 to 18 years in Kinshasa going to primary and secondary schools were either overweight or obese.

Abstract

COVID-19 Pandemic has become a major problem in various infected countries, including Indonesia. The proper risk communication strategy during this outbreak was important to reduce the impact. Therefore, this research was intended to assess the potential use of Google Trends as a tool to monitor risk communication during COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia. Search patterns were analyzed using the terminology used to identify COVID-19 in Indonesia, followed by information-finding keywords 'gejala (symptoms)', 'mencegah (preventing)', and 'obat (drug)' keywords compared to the number of newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Indonesia using time-lagged correlation analysis from December 31th, 2019 to April 20th, 2020. Peaks within respective timelines were qualitatively described according to current COVID-19 related events. ”Corona” was the terminology mostly used in Indonesia to identify COVID-19. There were five spikes observed from “corona” keyword timeline, which each spike was dependent on the media coverage and regulation by the Government. Validation using time-lagged correlation yields significant results between corona, corona symptoms, preventing corona and corona drugs compared to newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Indonesia. Google Trends can potentially be used to maximize the improvement of risk communication and as a tool to monitor public restlessness during the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia by Government.

Abstract

Efforts to control the vector in reducing the population of Aedes albopictus can be done by using attractants with ovitrap. This study aims to determine the variation of Imperata cylindrica raeusch's immersion straw immersion dose on the number of eggs and hatchability of Aedes albopictus in the laboratory. Research type is a true experiment with a completely randomized design (CRD). The material used is Imperata cylindrica raeusch soaking with 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% concentration and aquadest as a control with 5 replications. The results showed that Imperata grass soaking was proven to be effective as an attractant in Aedes albopictus mosquitoes and was able to inhibit the number of eggs that hatch. Utilization of Imperata straw soaking can be used as an additive in the ovitrap in dengue vector surveillance.
