Abdihaz: Jurnal Ilmiah Pengabdian pada Masyarakat, so-called as Jurnal Abdihaz, is a peer-reviewed journal to publish/disseminate scientific works and innovations in the form of scientific articles. This journal concerned with the practice and processes of community engagement. This journal accepts and publishes scientific articles focused on community service. Abstract

Training of English Language and Mangrove Management for Youth Empowerment in Mangrove Tourism Object Development Karang taruna is a youth organization in a village. This community service program was aimed to train Karang Taruna member in Sumber Jaya Village, Kota Bengkulu speaking English which can be used to guide foreign tourists and and to educate them about mangroves and its management for ecotourism activities. The activity was carried out in three stages: 1) the preparation; 2) the planning; 3) the implementation stage. In the third stage, an evaluation was carried out through the practice of speaking English and distributing questionnaires about English language skills and knowledge about mangroves. After the service activities were carried out, the results showed that the participants: 1) 100% understood how to greet and introduce in English; 2) 90% could explain the information about interest place in English; 3) 90% could ask and answer in English; 4) 100% could explain about tourism object in English; 5) 100% could explain about the rules of travel in English; 6) 100% could answer about tourism object; 7) 100% could convey likes and dislikes; 8) 100% could hosting; 9) 90% could explain how to make organic fertilizers; 10) 90% could explain the making of handicrafts; 11) 100% understood the function, potential and types of mangrove forests; 12) 90% knew the tourism management based on mangrove conservation; 13) 90% understood maintenance and improvement of mangrove quality; 14) 100% understood management through tourism diversification; 15) 90% understood mangrove tourism infrastructure; 16) 100% understood the potential of mangroves that can be processed into souvenirs. The results of the service can be concluded that the Karang Taruna members have understood about English language technique specifically to tour guide and had an understanding of mangroves.

Abstract

Food Packaging Assistance Program for Tenants through the Bioindustry Entrepreneur Development Center Packaging is very important, especially on attracting consumer interest, so it needs to be adjusted based on market segments, because consumer tastes of products can be seen from the packaging. Generally, tenants already have packaging, but it was very simple, just mention the name of the product. Therefore, this mentoring program would increase awareness of tenants to make packaging based on labelling regulation for food products. The stages on this community service activity included provision of food packaging, presenting some packaging samples and assisting also giving consultation for tenant about food product packaging. This mentoring activity provided many benefits for tenants. There were 12 tenants participated on this activity. About 80% of participants got improve for their package, on design also information which required on the packaging.

Abstract

Product Diversification of White Saffron Substitute Stick in Karang Taruna Yodha, Argomulyo Village Jogja Youth Farming (JYF) is an agro-tourism development carried out by Yodha youth organizations in Argomulyo Village, Sedayu, Bantul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta. Efforts are being made to develop JYF Agrotourism through downstream research. The survey results of the service team found that the Yodha youth organization had a potential to develop functional food entrepreneurs based on local rhizome plants (called as empon-empon) from the Argomulyo village area. In addition, around Agrotourism there are still many vacant fertile lands (idle land) that have not been used intensively. The purpose of this community service activity was to develop the entrepreneurial potential of the Yodha youth organization in Argomulyo Village. Development of potential by preparing the basic ingredients of empon-empon through good cultivation and processing of sticks, which are superior (have antioxidant activity) and are favored by consumers. The solution offered was to conduct training and practice on empon-empon cultivation and how to process it into functional food, sticks product. The JYF youth organization has produced sticks with the addition of empon-empon and sticks that consumers like with the addition of 10% white saffron.

Abstract

Moringa oleifera L. for Socioeconomic and Public Health Solutions in Facing the Covid-19 Pandemic in Bengkulu The Corona virus (COVID-19) which causes disorders of the human respiratory system has spread rapidly in various parts of the world. One of Universitas Prof. Dr. Hazairin, SH's efforts in providing solutions to the community during this pandemic was through community service activities. The target of the community service activities were residents who fall into the middle to lower economic class category in Pasar Baru, Pasar Melintang, and Jitra sub-districts, Teluk Segara district. The purpose of this program was to help empower the community to increase awareness of maintaining health and environmental hygiene as well as improving the economy through additional income from sales of moringa processed products. The methods used in this activity were socialization, education on the benefits of moringa, and training for the use of moringa. The results of the activity showed that the enthusiasm of the community was high. It could be seen from the seedlings of moringa that were given to life target residents reaching 94%. Furthermore, the understanding of the benefits of moringa increased during this program. The high enthusiasm was also seen from the village employees, PKK women, and youth groups to attend training on moringa processed products. Community service has been carried out well and received very good attention from community members in Pasar Baru, Pasar Melintang, and Jitra sub-districts.

Abstract

Intercropping between Corn and Cayenne Pepper as Processed Farmers in Kabawetan The partner's land is in Kabawetan Village, Kepahiang Regency and has not been used optimally. It is suitable for intercropping between corn and cayenne pepper. How to cultivate partner land to be more productive was the goal of the activity. The method was a community assistance model through training and workshops. The result was an intercropping system was carried out through: 1) land processing, 2) seedling, 3) planting, 4) fertilization, 5) taking care the plants, and 6) harvesting. The production costs consisted of 1) seeds for an area of 12 m x 20 m wass 550.000 IDR, labor for 3 working day was 240,000 IDR, 15 sacks of fertilizer were 300,000 IDR, and mulch was 600,000 IDR. The corn was harvested every 3 months, while the cayenne pepper was harvested every 15 days. The cultivation system setup for 7 years with the used capital was 1,690,000 IDR. The corn planting started from the left side of the bed as a protection for chilies. Corn produced are around 500 plants x 2 kg x 4,000 IDR. Cayenne pepper is planted on the right side of the bed when the corn was 2 months old. The chilies were sowed first before planting on the mulching land. Cayenne pepper harvested every 15 days during the 7 years’ project period. There were about 3000 stems x 1.5 kg stem-1 x 20,000 IDR kg-1. Intercropping system can improve the welfare of partners.

Abstract

Assistance to Anugrah Farmers Group Utilizing Water Hyacinth as a Raw Material for Carp Feed Water hyacinth (Eichornia crassipes) is not only harmful but also beneficial because it can be used as animal fodder, fish fodder, organic fertilizer, and biogas production and water purification. Water hyacinth like other plants contains protein needed by carp (Osphronemus gouramy Lac). The purpose of this community service activity is to provide assistance to partners in utilizing water hyacinth as a raw material for carp feed. The approach taken is the methods namely planning, training and mentoring. The results of the community service activity show that partners already have knowledge in processing water hyacinth as a raw material for fish feed, which can reduce high production costs. Comparison of the price of commercial animal feed and animal feed made from water hyacinth is 12,000 IDR compared to 6,058 IDR and can accelerate the growth of carp.

Abstract

The Training of Making Cheese to Meet the Nutritional Needs of Children's Bones and Teeth during the Golden Age Golden age is a golden period of early childhood in conducting exploration activities in shaping children's character. In fulfilling the nutritional intake of children aged 3-5 years, there are 35% of children in Kukulu village who do not consume milk. This is due to the start of various activities of children in playing, so less consumption of milk. It causes the loss of appetite in consuming milk so that there are problems in the growth of children's bones and teeth. The purpose of program was to increase public knowledge in improving children's nutrition by processing milk into cheese so that the benefits and content of milk are maintained. The method of this community service was lecturing about the benefits of milk and the processing into cheese. Than, continued with training of cheese making in overcoming children who are less willing to consume milk. Evaluation data showe that about 80%-100% of the participants got the good and very good understanding about the material. And, about 80%-100% of them satisfied with satisfied with it.
