Abstract

The decrease in environmental quality has a major influence on the quality of life. Improvement efforts to minimize negative impacts on humans and the environment need to be done, one of them is through interior design. This article will describe how interior designers can adapt and contribute to the environment in response to global issues that occur. Environmental-oriented interior design (eco-interior) is one solution for improving the environment and its inhabitants. The effort starts from the planning process, the selection of environmentally friendly materials, the proper implementation, maintenance, and the thought of production and post-production waste. By doing these efforts the designers are expected to be able to make a positive contribution to the environment that will add value in a design.

Abstract

With the rise of “sustainable life” activities or lifestyles in the modern era, nowadays people become sensitive and understand about this lifestyle, many things have been developed and started to be done such as minimalist patterns and lifestyles, such as lifestyle to have the goods that are needed and not desired. People start competing to clean their goods by making a full selection of all items in the house and removing items that are not needed, this method is known as “Tidying up” or the art of tidying things. However, this raises various other problems, like the accumulation of household waste that occurs because of the method. Seeing the magnitude of the impact produced by the method, to overcome this problem a thrift shop center is needed in Denpasar and research is carried out using methods that are able to solve the problem, like research that uses structured parameters, like qualitative analysis methods carried out through the process of data analysis from various literatures and interviews with related parties, resulting in a design that accommodates the community to sell or to donate used items to the place of sale of used goods that maintain the value of the goods and places that educate the public that used goods or used clothing basically have high value too.

Abstract

Natural disasters that often occur in Indonesia are caused by the geographical position of Indonesia which is at the confluence of three large tectonic plates that are interlocking and there is a buildup of energy. When the rock can no longer hold that energy, there will be a spontaneous release of energy that is felt as an earthquake. The earthquake can cause a tsunami if a plate breaks on the seabed. As a result, natural disasters that occur in Indonesia such as earthquakes and tsunamis often cause fatalities due to the lack of education to the public about the importance of natural disaster mitigation. Submission of education on natural disaster mitigation has been carried out by relevant parties in Bali by conducting simulations to educational institutions to the general public. However, the process of delivering this education has not been carried out comprehensively, so that many people still do not understand how to recognize signs and procedures for rescuing themselves in the event of a natural disaster. Therefore, there is a need for a means of conducting an education process on the importance of natural disaster mitigation in the form of facilities for simulation and training. The focus of this writing is the interior design of natural disaster mitigation simulation facilities located in Gianyar Regency, Bali by applying a theme based on the local wisdom of Balinese culture and applying the concept of "Contemporary Duality".

Abstract

Tri Hita Karana (THK) is a philosophy of life that has taken root in Hindu society in Bali. Tri Hita Karana means three causes of happiness that are created from the harmonious relationship between humans and the natural environment (Palemahan), humans and the social environment of society (pawongan), humans and the spiritual / God environment (Parhayangan). One effort to implement the Tri Hita Karana concept in the field of tourism is through annual competition and accreditation of eco-friendly tourism in the perspective of the Tri Hita Karana tourism Awards and Accreditations-THK Awards that have been held since 2000. The role of an architect in realizing Tri Hita Karana tourism Awards and Accreditations is needed especially in realizing two of the three aspects of the Tri Hita Karana tourism Awards and Accreditations, namely planning and building a villa residence. Knowledge, experience and professionalism of an architect is very much needed in translating an idea and desire of the owner and implementing oneself in the use of the environment and socio-culture of the local community, so that the design is comfortable, safe, energy efficient, economical and environmentally friendly. An architect must play a role and have a strategy to realize and apply the concepts that already exist in Bali to the fullest, so that Bali's viability can still be maintained..

Abstract

Griya, Puri, and Jero are terms specifically used to name the dwellings of Balinese aristocrats, namely brahmana, ksatrya, and wesia. These three groups of people are the highest group of citizens in the social structure of traditional Balinese society, also called tri wangsa. This study aims to uncover the identity struggle with the use of the names of the residential groups of citizens of the tri wangsa or the Balinese aristocracy into the names of today's housing developed by developers in Bali. This qualitative study with an interpretive descriptive approach uses Bourdieu's structural generative theory and Foucault's knowledge-power relations in the analysis of primary data obtained from the field, and interviews with informants determined by purposive sampling and secondary data based. Data collection was carried out through literature study and interviews. The study's findings show that in Foucault's view, the use of the names of the traditional Balinese aristocrats' dwellings is a new articulation that has articulated an earlier truth claim that has been established for about six centuries. It is also inseparable from the struggle for economic capital, cultural capital, social capital, and especially symbolic capital. The struggle of various capital in Bourdieu's perspective with its various forms of conversion also becomes a struggle for identity in the field of social struggle through the realm of residential society in Bali today.
