Abstract

This research aims to develop a valid, practical, and effective android and ispring based mathematics learning media of sequence and series materials. Researchers use the Research and Development (R&D) method with ADDIE (analysis, design, development, improvement, and design) development models as the research method. The data in this study is obtained from interviews, questionnaires, and tests. The result shows that the developed learning media meets the feasibility criteria of learning media are valid, practical, and effective. The validity average of subject experts is 4.75, and 4.52 for media experts by the "valid" category. The practicality average for teachers of the small class is 4.83 and 4.72 for teachers of the big ones, then, for students, it's 4.89 for the small ones and 4.85 for the big ones by the "practical" category. The percentage of students who pass the passing grade is 70% in the small class by the “effective”actegory and 82% in the big class by the "very effective" category.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of teaching motivation and school facilities on the professional competence of high school mathematics teachers because teaching motivation is something important to consider in reviewing the performance of a teacher, as well as facilities owned by schools, completeness of facilities at schools will optimize the learning process in class. In reviewing the effect of teaching motivation and school facilities on professional competence, an inferential analysis using multiple regression. This research type is a survey with a population all of high school mathematics teachers in Pekanbaru City. Questionnaires for teaching motivation and school facilities, as well as tests in the form of multiple choice and non-test in the form of questionnaires to measure professional competence were instruments in this study. The data for this study obtained from 33 high school mathematics teachers in Pekanbaru City, 33 fellow teachers, and 909 high school students in Pekanbaru City. The result show that teaching motivation affects the professional competence of teachers and school facilities do not affect professional competence.

Abstract

This study aims to see the effectiveness of mathematics learning through the application of blended learning models. This type of research is pre-experimental research (One Group Pretest-Postest Design). The research population includes all students of the Mathematics Education Study Program Semester III STKIP Darud Da'wah wal Irsyad Pinrang and a sample, namely semester III. A class, which was selected using a simple random sampling technique. The variables studied are learning outcomes and student responses to mathematics learning with a blended learning model. The data analysis technique used is descriptive and inferential analysis techniques. The results showed (1) the completeness of mathematics learning outcomes after learning by applying an effective blended learning model with a percentage of completed students of 81%. (2) Student responses to learning through the application of blended learning models are in the good (positive) category with a large percentage of average responses agreeing and strongly agreeing reaching 81%. (3) Based on the significance level of 5% and df = 40 obtained Pvalue = 0.005 shows that the learning outcomes of groups of students who are taught through a blended learning model with those taught through conventional learning differ significantly from the category of strong effects.

Abstract

Number sense is important to be mastered by a prospective mathematics teacher as a basis for learning mathematics and makes it easier to train students' flexibility in solving math problems related to numbers. However, the results of preliminary studies show that there are indications that the prospective teacher's ability to operate numbers is not good enough. This study uses quantitative methods that aim to investigate the number sense component of mathematics teacher candidates who are still weak. The respondents involved in this study were 36 students who were prospective third-year mathematics teachers who had taken linear algebra courses. The instrument used is a 30-item number sense problem developed based on the number sense component, namely understanding and skills about numbers, understanding and skills using number operations, and applying number skills and operations in computing. This number sense test is done for 30 minutes. The results showed that the number sense ability of prospective mathematics teacher students was average with an average percentage of correct answers of only 51.57%. The third component in number sense is the weakest mastered with a percentage of correct answers of only 46.39%.

Abstract

There are various types of thinking skills that can be developed by studying mathematics, one of which is the algebraic thinking skills. One of the abilities in algebraic thinking is quantitative reasoning ability. Quantitative reasoning ability is a fundamental ability for students to be successful in learning mathematics. However, the facts on the field show that there are still many students who have low mathematical reasoning abilities. The purpose of this study was to obtain an overview and characteristics of students' mathematical reasoning abilities, especially students' quantitative reasoning. This research uses a qualitative approach, while this type of research is a phenomenological study. Phenomenology is the study that describes what a person receives, feels and knows in his consciousness about the experiences he has experienced. The subjects of this study were students of class VI elementary school and class VII junior high school. Based on the results of the research and discussion, it can be concluded that there are similarities and differences in the characteristics of quantitative reasoning between students at the final level of elementary school and students at the initial level of junior high school.
