Abstract

The method of theology used by a person in providing theological understanding has a uniqueness or distinctiveness that can be judged and even imitated by other theological learners. What the Apostle Paul had and did became an example for believers in his time and today, amid the demands of a society that is increasingly moderate and increasingly sensitive to the gospel message, not only in terms of setting an example of life but also setting an example in terms of theology. The author uses qualitative research methods in discussing and studying specifically 1 Corinthians 9:1-23 in order to examine and discover Paul's theological method. In the study, the author found three theological methods used by the Apostle Paul in this context: the rhetoric method, the apologetics method, and the contextual method. In today's context, the rhetorical method enables effective speech by choosing words, terms, expressions, and sentences that can attract the attention and sympathy of the listener. The apologetic method pays attention to the substance of the true truth of the Christian faith without getting bogged down in the demands of the perspective of the average society. The contextual method pays attention to the condition of society, culture, and all its characteristics, with the aim that the gospel is preached and people in that context can accept and know Christ.

Abstract

This study aims to explain ludruk culture as a means to preach the mission of the Kingdom of God in the scope of Jawi Wetan Christian Church (GKJW). Generally, the play/story ludruk revolves around social criticism of people's lives, with the aim of improvement in the lives of these people. Using the qualitative – descriptive method, this study shows the intersection point in the story ludruk with the mission of the Kingdom of God, so that ludruk can be used as a cultural foundation to bring the mission of the Kingdom of God on Earth East Java. The results showed that ludruk and the mission of the Kingdom of God are an appropriate synergy for GKJW to preach the mission of the Kingdom of God.

Abstract

The encounter between the Gospel and culture often creates tensions. Some of these tensions can be found in some issues of evangelization in the midst of Indonesia's diverse ethnicities and cultures. Local theology is both a strategy and a way out of this problem. Designing and building local theology must be connected to local cultural values. One of the local cultural values raised in this research is sangkan paran found in the Javanese community in Paguyuban Ngesti Tunggal (Pangestu). Through qualitative research methods using interviews, documents and desk research, the values of sangkan paran are explored and assessed from a biblical perspective, resulting in several findings. The findings show many points of convergence as well as points of difference between Pangestu's concept of sangkan paran and that of the Bible. All of these findings become material for the design of local theology that is actualized in the proclamation of the Gospel to the Javanese community in Pangestu Caruban.

Abstract

The massive corruption that occurs in this nation also extends to the church as a spiritual institution. Corruption is a big problem for society, which causes people to suffer and, of course, disrupts the country's economy. Corruption is also an act of violation of human rights and is now a social pathology that is dangerous for human life. This research aims to provide an understanding of how the role of Christianity can reduce corrupt behaviour by forming an anti-corruption character. Yeng is certainly very useful for Christianity in building a country free from corruption. This paper uses a descriptive qualitative method with a literature study approach. The results of this research state that corruption is a crime that must be fought. Corruption contains untruths that are not in line with the teachings of the Bible. Therefore, the church must guide the congregation with an anti-corruption character within a biblical framework.

Abstract

This article aims to understand the work of the Holy Spirit in placing church ministers. The Holy Spirit reveals His work in placing church servants to develop ministry. However, based on this research, the author found several things that are of concern to a church minister. In Ex. 18:14-27 Jethro also asked Moses to appoint several people who could help him in leading God's chosen people. Likewise, what was experienced by the apostles in their ministry after they received the power of the Holy Spirit to preach the Gospel and convert many souls was recorded in Acts 2:41 as approximately three thousand souls; this figure is not a small number of souls who want to be served the truth. The work of the Holy Spirit enables church ministers to serve the congregation in terms of teaching God's Word. All of this happened inseparable from the work of the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit also enabled the apostles to determine according to predetermined criteria; namely, people must be filled with the Holy Spirit, wise, and willing to suffer for the truth. Hopefully, this article can help to understand and understand the work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers in carrying out the church's tri-tasks in terms of ministry.
