Abstract

Efforts to increase the utilization of forest products are realized in the form of forest product processing industries which are referred to as primary forest product industries. The total forest area in Maluku Province is 3,919,701 Ha. The potential of natural forest production has decreased significantly. This condition certainly affects the amount of roundwood produced, in other words, the production of round wood has also decreased. On the other hand, the demand for wood in Maluku is very high indicated by the high capacity of existing industries. This condition does not support the sustainability of the timber industry. This research was carried out with the aim of 1) Knowing the production of timber forest products based on a case study conducted in Maluku Province. 2) analyze the effect of sawn timber production and the number of IPHHK on sawn timber production. The result of research show that the number of IPHHK in Maluku Province in 2017 is 80 units of industrial enterprises, the primary of which is active in the process of processing processed wood as much as 57 units. The results of linear regression analysis, it can be seen that because Fcount 7 Ftable, 0.723> 0.457, then H0 is rejected, meaning that there is a significant influence between the amount of round wood production, the number of IPHHK together for sawn timber production.

Abstract

The research study aims to determine the ecological conditions of dusung and non dusung, and the role of the contribution to environmental conservation in Ureng Village. The research method used was purposive sampling with observation parameters were microclimate (CO2 content, air temperature, humidity), vegetation conditions and soil conditions (soil temperature, soil moisture, soil pH, soil moisture content, soil macrofauna and organic C) . The results of Paired of each parameter measured mostly show a smaller calculated t value compared to the t0.05 table value (1.8595) which means that the parameter is not a real difference, ie for the air humidity, t count = 0.27,; soil pH, t count = 0.6; soil macrofauna, t count = -0.66 and vegetation, t count = 1.01. As for the parameters of CO2; air temperature, soil temperature, , soil water content and organic C, t value of CO2 gives the value t count = - 16.06; air temperature = -5.11; soil temperature = -3.62; soil moisture, t count = 2,16; soil water content = 8.47, and C-Organic = 8.53; t count value which is greater than t table value which shows that there is a significant difference between CO2, air temperature, soil temperature, soil moisture, soil water content and C-Organic content in the dusung area which is greater than in the non-dusung area. From the results of the analysis it is known that dusung has a better role in environmental conservation when compared to non dusung which is indicated by the value of CO2 air temperature, soil temperature, soil moisture, soil water content and C-organic content.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of local Sasi institutions in forest management activities, which can be used in formulating forms of forest management based on regional characteristics in realizing sustainable forest management and improving community welfare. Data collection is done by observing all community activities both in the forest and in residential areas. Interviews are conducted with all stakeholders to obtain systematic and intensive data and information including village government, managers (kewang), youth and student leaders, academics, NGOs and documentation studies in the form of library studies and photographs relating to research. The results of the study show that sasi is a form of temporary prohibition on the community to refrain from exploiting natural resources that are on land that are privately owned (non-communal) or collectively (communal rights) and at sea owned by the management agency (Kewang). Sasi law for teresterial land (forest) has management stages, namely planning, implementation, supervision, yield management, and marketing. Government policies in the forestry sector such as the forestry law number 41 of 1999 year concerning forestry, and the decision of the minister of forestry number 31 of 2001 year concerning social law are seen to be in line with the sasi law. In its development, sasi as a model of local wisdom in Moluccas Province faced obstacles in its implementation, both those who came from outside and inside the community, such as the proportion of forest area with the number of members of the community, conflicts between customary law and national law, and government policies in the form of HPH which is a threat to the territory of the country.

Abstract

Agroforestry is a land use system that aims to sustain or increase total yields sustainably. Community Forest Utilization Permit (IUPHKm) is a business permit granted to local community groups to utilize forests in protected forest areas and / or production forest areas. HKm management for the community in the Melinani sub-district was carried out based on the technical design of agroforestry made by BPSKL in the Maluku and Papua regions. The research objectives are: (1) Knowing the economic, social and cultural and ecological characteristics of the Melinani community in utilizing Hkm; (2) Determine strategies and priorities for developing agroforestry systems and (3) Analyze the factors that determine the effectiveness of farmers' work. Multiple regression analysis is used in this research. For the determination of agroforestry development strategies used SWOT analysis and priority setting that must be carried out using the QSPM method. The results of the regression analysis indicate that the level of education and distance from residence have an impact on the development of agroforestry. The SWOT analysis is in the quadrant I. This means that even though the management of agroforestry development is under threat, it can be used to exploit opportunities. The results of QSPM calculations are 4 alternative agrofoestry management strategies in HKm. The technical design of agroforestry is still focused on agriculture and plantation crops, not yet combined with forestry plants, so the strata of the plant have not been well formed.

Abstract

Indonesia is known as a country with high biodiversity in the world. Plenty of beneficial-rich plants grow in Indonesia as a country that has tropical climate, one of the plant is tarum (Indigofera tinctoria Linn.). Tarum is a natural dye-producing plant whose presence is not widely known. The development of human needs, especially in meeting the needs of natural dyes, is considered to be the main reason for reintroducing tarum as a suitable plant to grow in Indonesia. The use of natural dyes in addition to being safe for humans is also safe for the environment, considering the substances produced by the tarum plant are widely used as textile dyes. Good enough environmental compatibility makes this plant actually spread in many parts of Indonesia, especially in Java. It is necessary to possess a knowledge about the right cultivation techniques for tarum plants in an effort to increase the color-producing substances in plants. The attempts to obtain information about cultivation techniques are an opportunity to re-raise these plants to be better known and developed as potential plants.

Abstract

The experiment was carried out to study an effect of lipids in form of Ca-Soup which based on fish oil on ruminants. 15 local male sheep were devided into 3 treatments, namely: RA (basal diet without Ca-Soap) as control; RB (control diet + 5% Ca-Soap); and RC (control diet + 10% Ca-Soap). The basal diet was in pellet form which consisted of 40% field grass and 60% concentrate. The experiment design used was Randomised Block Design with 3 diet treatments and 5 replications. The results showed that the supplementation of Ca-Soap which using fish oil had significant effect on increasing of VFA total production, it could also improve the carcass quality and fatty acid ratio. Ca-Soap with fish oil base was effective as energy and polyunsaturated fatty acid sources in sheep diets. It was indicated by normal rumen metabolism and good performance.
