Abstract

This study dealt with the development of English Reading Materials of Senior High School in SMAN 10 Medan. The objectives of this study is to develop the English reading materials for students of SMAN 10 Medan which represent the characteristics of their sociocultural environment. The research was conducted at SMAN 10 Medan. The research procedures of this study were Research and Development (R & D) that were done through three phases: 1) evaluation and need analysis, 2) materials design, and 3) materials Validation. The instruments used in this research were a documentary sheet, questionnaire sheet, and interview sheet. The data from evaluation and need analysis were analyzed by using descriptive technique and the data from expert judgment results were analyzed using quantitative data analysis. The result of this study was a coursebook of local content-based reading materials which consist of 3 genres: recount genres, descriptive genres, and narrative genres, in which each genre consists of 2 texts complete with the tasks or exercises. Based on the experts’ judgment results, the score was 87.06 which belonged to good category based on Dirgeyasa (2011), since the range is (70-89).

Abstract

This study is aimed to analyze the types of Reading Exercises on the English textbook used by the first year students of SMA SWASTA METHODIST 7 Medan. The objective of the study is to find out the types of reading exercises on English textbook used by the first year students of SMA SWASTA METHODIST 7 Medan. The design of the study is descriptive qualitative research. The qualitative data were obtained by the steps that mentioned in the procedure of the research, i.e. reading, identification, classification and simplification. The researcher analyzed the exercise in three steps,identifying the topic, clutser the topic, draw explanation. The object of the study is the reading exercises created by Th. M. Sudarwati and Eudia Grace entitled by Pathway To English and published by Erlangga, 2017. The data was collected only by taking documentary analysis. It means that the writer document reading exercises on students’ English textbook and analyzed its types of reading exercises. The final result of this study shows that are five types of reading exercises on the English textbook they are Types of reading exercise are Matching Test, True/ False Reading Test, Multiple Choice item test, Completion item tests, and Long and Short answer questions. The result of reading exercise analysis shows that there are controlled exercise and guided exercise. In controlled exercises the researcher didn’t find exercise in Pathway to English textbook. And in guided exercises there are find in multiple choice in vocabulary 2 exercise. Matching cued word matching 3 exercise, matching picture cued sentence 1 exercise, vocabulary matching 5 exercise, matching selected response fill in vocabulary 7 exercise. True or false 3 exercise, completion item in the following of text 1 exercise, completion are in the text itself 9 exercise. In short answer question 6 exercise, long answer question 8 exercise. But, the researcher didn’t find exercise in multiple choice contextualized vocabulary / grammar and multiple choice vocabulary / grammar.

Abstract

Abstract This study is attempts Analysis on writing Exerciss In English Textbook Entitled “When English Rings a Bell”. The objectives of this research is to know the types of writing exercises in When English Rings a Bell textbook based on 2013 Curriculum. The research is content analysis design. The instrument for collecting data is documentary is taken from English textbook seventh grade students published by kemendikbud. After observing the textbook, matching with the 2013 Curriculum, the types of writing exercises of When English Rings A Bell Textbook the writer found four type there are is (a) Completing texts, (b) writing sentence dealing with grammar, (c) writing short functional text and (d) Developing vocabulary into sentence. The writer found the kinds practice of exercises there are Controlled exercises and Guided exercises, the result is are: arranging scrambled word into good sentences (not found in the textbook), completing texts/sentences (12,50%), writing sentences dealing with grammar (50%), writing short functional texts (18,75%), developing vocabulary into sentences (18,75%) so the types of writing exercises are dominant is writing sentences dealing with grammar (50%). Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman dan komunikasi matematis siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran kooperatif dengan teknik Think-Pair-Square (TPS) lebih tinggi daripada siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran konvensional. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode eksperimen dan desain kelompok kontrol non-ekivalen. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas I SMA Swasta HKBP Pematangsiantar. Untuk memperoleh data yang diperlukan, digunakan instrumen berupa tes kemampuan pemahaman matematis, format observasi, dan angket untuk siswa. Analisis data dilakukan secara kuantitatif untuk data hasil pretes, postes, dan nilai gain, dan secara kualitatif untuk data hasil observasi, dan angket untuk siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (a) Peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran kooperatif dengan teknik Think-Pair-Square (TPS) lebih tinggi daripada siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran konvensional; (b) Aktivitas siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran kooperatif dengan teknik Think-Pair-Square (TPS) adalah baik; (c) Siswa menunjukkan sikap yang positif terhadap pembelajaran kooperatif dengan teknik Think-Pair-Square (TPS). Kata Kunci: Pembelajaran Kooperatif Teknik Think-Pair-Square (TPS), Pemahaman dan Komunikasi Matematis. ABSTRACT This research aims to determine whether the increase in mathematical understanding and communication skills of students who receive cooperative learning with Think-Pair-Square (TPS) techniques is higher than students who get conventional learning. The study was conducted using experimental methods and the design of a non-equivalent control group. The population in this study were all first grade students of SMA Swasta HKBP Pematangsiantar. To obtain the required data, instruments used in the form of tests of mathematical understanding ability, observation formats, and questionnaires for students. Data analysis was carried out quantitatively for the results of the pretest, posttest, and gain values, and qualitatively for the observational data, and the questionnaire for students. The results showed that: (a) Increased mathematical understanding ability of students who received cooperative learning with Think-Pair-Square (TPS) techniques was higher than students who received conventional learning; (b) The activities of students who get cooperative learning with Think-Pair-Square (TPS) techniques are good; (c) Students show a positive attitude towards cooperative learning with Think-Pair-Square (TPS) techniques. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui: (1) Pengaruh Pembelajaran Mata Kuliah Kewirausahaan terhadap Minat Berwirausaha Mahasiswa FKIP Universitas HKBP Nommensen Medan Tahun Pelajaran 2018/2019; (2) Pengaruh Praktik Kewirausahaan terhadap Minat Berwirausaha mahasiswa FKIP Universitas HKBP Nommensen Medan Tahun Pelajaran 2018/2019; (3) Pengaruh Pembelajaran Mata Kuliah Kewirausahaan dan Praktik Kewirausahaan secara bersama-sama terhadap Minat Berwirausaha Mahasiswa FKIP Universitas HKBP Nommensen Medan Tahun Pelajaran 2018/2019. Penelitian kuantitatif ini menggunakan sampel mahasiswa FKIP Universitas HKBP Nommensen Tahun Pelajaran 2018/2019 yang berjumlah 195 mahasiswa. Pengumpulan data pembelajaran mata kuliah kewirausahaan, praktik kewirausahaan dan minat berwirausaha menggunakan angket. Teknik analisa data yang digunakan yaitu teknik analisis regresi sederhana dan teknik analisis berganda.. Berdasarkan Hasil penelitian diperoleh kesimpulan pembelajaran mata kuliah kewirausahaan dan praktik kewirausahaan berpengaruh terhadap minat berwirausaha mahasiswa FKIP Universitas HKBP Nommensen Medan Tahun Pelajaran 2018/2019 baik secara parsial maupun simultan. koefisien determinasi sebesar 38,8% dimana minat berwirausaha dipengaruhi oleh pembelajaran mata kuliah kewirausahaan dan praktik kewirausahaan sedangkan sisanya sebesar 61,2% dipengaruhi variable lain yang tidak diteliti dalam penelitian ini. Abstract

Job vacancies often include conditions for being able to work in teams and being able to work under pressure for prospective workers. So the learning model, for the last year students who work according to market demand in the workforce, needs to be introduced. The purpose of this study is to create a cooperative learning model under pressure. The steps of the Cooperative Learning Model Under Pressure are (1) explaining learning objectives, (2) explaining apperception and ways of assessment at the end of learning, (3) forming heterogeneous groups, (4) group discussions with peer tutors by press, (5) ) evaluation with pressure and appreciation, and (6) summarizing. The average value of students for Programming courses taught with the cooperative learning model under pressure is significantly better than that taught in the cooperative learning model without under pressure.

Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pengembangan program pembelajaran praktikum fisika dasar berorientasi heuristik terbimbing terhadap peningkatkan kecakapan akademik mahasiswa T.A 2018/2019. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan R&D (research and development) dengan desain penelitian one-shot case study pada uji coba I dan one group pretest-posttest design pada uji coba II. Teknik analisis data melalui analisis deskriptif kuantitatif, deskriptif kualitatif dan statistik induktif. Dengan populasi penelitian yaitu seluruh mahasiswa program studi pendidikan fisika semester II T.A 2018/2019 dengan jumlah keseluruhan 19 orang mahasiswa. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah (1) lembar observasi untuk mengetahui aktivitas belajar mahasiswa dan kinerja mahasiswa, (2) tes objektif dalam bentuk pilihan berganda dan esai untuk mengetahui peningkatan kecakapan akademik mahasiswa, dan (3) angket untuk mengetahui respon mahasiswa terhadap pembelajaran praktikum fisika berorientasi heuristik terbimbing. Sebelum instrumen ini digunakan terlebih dahulu dilakukan uji validitas dan uji reliabilitas. Setelah dilakukan pembelajaran praktikum fisika dasar berorientasi heuristik terbimbing diperoleh lah, nilai rata-rata aktivitas mahasiswa 84,71 ,nilai rata-rata kinerja mahasiswa 83,89 ,nilai rata-rata respon mahasiswa 88,48 dan nilai rata-rata postes 75,57 dengan standar deviasi 9.45. Nilai ketiga observasi disebut variabei X dan nilai postes disebut variabel Y kemudian dilakukan uji t dan uji regresi. Hasil uji prasyarat data postes menyatakan sampel terdistribusi normal dan homogen. Dan dilakukan uji t satu pihak ( Dari uji t satu pihak dan uji regresi disimpulkan bahwa ada pengaruh pengembangan program pembelajaran praktikum fisika dasar berorientasi heuristik terbimbing untuk meningkatkan kecakapan akademik mahasiswa T.A 2018/2019. Sedangkan hubungan masing-masing variabel diindikasikan berpengaruh signifikan melalui uji regresi dengan perolehan hasil = -64,65+ 1,65 X. Kata kunci : pengembangan program pembelajaran, pembelajaran heuristik terbimbing, kecakapan akademik mahasiswa. Abstract This study aims to determine the effect of guided heuristic-oriented basic physics practicum learning program development to improve academic skills of college students school year 2018/2019. This study is a development study (research and development) with one-shot case study design on the first trial and one group pretest-posttest design on the second trial. Analysis technique of this study through quantitative descriptive analysis, qualitative descriptive and inductive statistics. Population of this study are all 19 second semester students faculty of Education of Physic school year 2018/2019. The instruments used were (1) observation sheets to find out student learning activities and student performance, (2) multiple choice objective tests and essays to find out the improvement of students academic skill, and (3) questionnaire to find out students responses to guided heuristic-oriented basic physics practicum learning. Validity and reliability tests are done before this instrument used. After the guided heuristic-oriented basic physics practicum learning done, known that the average value of student activity is 84.71, the average value of student performance is 83.89, the average value of student responses is 88.48 and the average post-test score is 75.57 with a standard deviation of 9.45. All of that three value called variable X and the value of the post-test is called variable Y, then t-test and regression test are performed. The results of the post-test data prerequisite test stated that the sample was normally distributed and homogeneous. One-side t-test was performed (ᾳ=0.05), from the one-side t-test and the regression test results concluded that there was an influence of guided heuristic-oriented basic physics practicum learning program development to improve the students academic skill of school year 2018/2019. While the correlation of each variable is indicated to have a significant effect through a regression test with the acquisition of = -64,65+ 1,65 X. Abstract

Abstract This study aims to find out how "The Relationship of Effective Sentence Mastery Ability to the Ability to Analyze Official Letter of Subject by Students in the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program Semester V T.A. 2018/2019 ". The method used in this study is a descriptive correlational method, which is a method or research technique that reveals clear facts about the symptoms and relationships that exist in an object of research. Data collection tools used are objective and subjective tests. Hypothesis testing is done by using the Product Moment correlation formula. From the results of correlation analysis between the ability to master effective sentences (X) by analyzing letters with a letter (Y), the coefficient price is 0.531 and after consultation with the r table at a significant level of 95% (0.361) and at a significant level 99% (0.463). Thus rh> rt (0.588> 0.361) and (0.588> 0.463), so the hypothesis states that there is a significant relationship between the ability to master effective sentences with the ability to analyze letters with a proven subject matter and work hypotheses accepted. This can be proven from the average ability of effective sentence mastery, namely 13 people (44%) are in the medium category and 17 people (56%) are in the high category while the ability to analyze the subject matter is high with 14 people (46%) are in the medium category and 16 people (54%) are in the high category. Based on the results of the correlation test it was found that the relationship between the ability to use conjunctions has sufficient correlation (by 0.588). So, there is a significant relationship between the ability to master effective sentences with the ability to analyze the subject matter by students of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program 2018/2019. Keywords: Relationship, Ability, Effective Sentences, Official Letter of Subject Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana “Hubungan Kemampuan Penguasaan Kalimat Efektif terhadap Kemampuan Menganalisis Surat Resmi Berperihal oleh Mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia Semester V T.A. 2018/2019”. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif korelasional, yaitu cara atau teknik penelitian yang mengungkapkan fakta yang jelas tentang gejala-gejala serta hubungan yang ada pada suatu objek penelitian. Alat pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah tes objektif dan subjektif. Pengujian Hipotesis dilakukan dengan menggunakan rumus korelasi Product Moment Dari hasil analisis korelasi anatara kemampuan menguasai kalimat efektif (X) dengan menganalisis surat berperihal (Y) diperoleh harga koefisien 0,531 dan setelah dikonsultasikan dengan r tabel pada taraf signifikan 95% (0,361) dan pada taraf signifikan 99% (0,463). Dengan demikian rh > rt (0,588 > 0,361) dan (0,588 > 0,463), sehingga hipotesis menyatakan terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara kemampuan menguasai kalimat efektif dengan kemampuan menganalisis surat berperihal teruji kebenaranya dan hipotesis kerja diterima. Hal ini dapat dibuktikan dari rata-rata kemampuan penguasaan kalimat efektif yaitu 13 orang (44%) berada pada kategori sedang dan 17 orang (56%) berada pada kategori tinggi sedangkan skor kemampuan menganalisis surat berperihal adalah tinggi dengan 14 orang (46%) berada pada kategori sedang dan 16 orang (54%) berada pada kategori tinggi. Berdasarkan hasil uji korelasi ditemukan bahwa hubungan kemampuan menggunkan kata penghubung memiliki korelasi yang cukup (sebesar 0,588). Jadi, ada hubungan yang signifikan antara kemampuan menguasai kalimat efektif dengan kemampuan menganalisis surat berperihal oleh Mahasiswa Prodi Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia Tahun Pembelajaran 2018/2019. Abstract

The objective of the research id to modify the heuristic vee learning model to improve student’s understanding of mathematical concepts and to improve student’s mathematical creativity abilities as well as to see the interaction between heuristic vee learning models with their level of mathematical ability towards increasing student’s understanding of mathematical concepts and mathematical creativity. This research was implemented at Nommensen HKBP University and experimental study with a pre-test post-test control group design research design. The population is all fourth semester students by taking a sample of two classes through random sampling techniques. The data is obtained through semester scores for KAM, tests of mathematical understanding abilities, tests of mathematical creativity abilities. The data were analysed by two-way ANAVA test. Before using the two-way ANAVA test, homogeneity tests were used in the study and normality in this study was 5% significant. The problem solving process created by students is expected to meet the criteria of understanding and mathematical creativity in the learning group Heuristic Vee Learning Model. The research findings recommend a modification of the Heuristic Vee learning model as one of the learning approaches used on campus

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to determine A2 level speaking skills in first semester students of the German language education program at University of HKBP Nommensen Pematangsiantar in the 2018/2019 school year. To find out the predicate of students' speaking skills, applied the German speaking A2 assessment criteria model for the category of adult learners (Erwachsene) from the Goethe Institut. This research is included in a qualitative descriptive study in analyzing the ability to speak A2 level. The data for this study came from five German speaking dialogues transcript part 1, five German speaking monologue transcripts part 2 and five German speaking monologue transcripts part 3 German language study program students University HKBP Nommensen Pematangsiantar on daily topics. After analyzing the transcript of the speech dialogue, the authors found that (1) German language education program students at the University of HKBP Nommensen Pematangsiantar had four levels of speaking skills, with the predicate "good / gut", satisfying / befriedigend ", "enough / ausreichend" and "not competent / inkompetent"; (2) the lack of mastery of language, especially grammar and vocabulary is the weakness of dominant German speaking that is owned by first semester students of the German language education program University of HKBP Nommensen Pematangsiantar based on German level assessment criteria A2 level categories of adult learners (Erwachsene) from Goethe Insititut.
