Abstract

This research is motivated by the need for more student activeness in learning at elementary schools. The research aims to enhance student activeness in using couple card media among elementary school students. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) with the Kemmis and McTaggart model design. The research implementation plan includes planning, action and observation, and reflection. Data collection techniques involve observation sheets, interviews, field notes, and documentation. Data processing techniques involve calculating average values and percentages. The results obtained in the pre-cycle phase showed that out of 30 students, only 41% (12 students) were active in the learning process. After implementing the first cycle using couple card learning media, student activeness improved but still needed to be maximized, with a percentage of 67% (20 students) being active in the learning process. Following the implementation of the second cycle, student activeness significantly increased and reached the predetermined threshold set by the researcher as an indicator of activeness in learning. The percentage obtained was 89% (27 students) actively engaged during the learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate Wattpad's role in motivating secondary school students to write narrative texts. As an online application, Wattpad offers several benefits for students, particularly those with low motivation in writing due to difficulties learning vocabulary and a lack of ideas or inspiration when composing a narrative text. Therefore, exploring the efforts of students who utilize Wattpad to develop their writing skills is interesting, specifically by using narrative texts as the application's content. This research employed a qualitative case study approach, in which the researcher conducted interviews with three 11th-grade students from SMA Negeri 1 Wringinanom during the academic year 2022/2023. The data obtained from the interviews were then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The study findings revealed that Wattpad significantly motivates secondary school students to write narrative texts. The platform aids students in nurturing their imagination and discovering new vocabulary through the narrative stories on the Wattpad application. Furthermore, the study suggests that students with writing talent can further develop their skills on this platform, allowing their work to be recognized and read by a wider audience.

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the Influence of Part-Time Work on Learning Activities and Academic Achievement of the 2019 cohort of students at STKIP PGRI Bangkalan. The independent variable in this research is part-time work, while the dependent variables are learning activity and academic achievement. The population for this study consists of all undergraduate education students from the 2019 cohort at STKIP PGRI Bangkalan, totaling 246 individuals, regardless of their part-time work status. The sample for this research includes the entire population, and the sampling technique employed is proportionate stratified random sampling, where all individuals in the population have an equal chance of being selected as sample members. Data collection techniques used include questionnaires and documentation. The analysis technique employed is MANOVA (Multivariate Analysis of Variance). The results of the research indicate that part-time work influences the variable of student learning activity, as the part-time work variable shows a positive effect, with a significance value of 0.009 (p < 0.05) and tcount > ttable (2.788 > 2.045). Therefore, the null hypothesis (HO) is rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (HI) is accepted. Furthermore, part-time work also affects the variable of student academic achievement, as the part-time work variable has a positive effect, with a significance value of 0.023 (p < 0.05) and tcount > ttable (2.397 > 2.045). Hence, the null hypothesis (HO) is rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (HI) is accepted.

Abstract

This study aimed to reveal how Teachers of Feld-Practice Program or PPL teachers adapted while teaching at SMA Negeri 1 Malunda, a school affected by the earthquake and the Covid-19 pandemic. Data was collected through reflective journals written every day by five PPL teachers. Reflective journals described PPL teachers’ experiences while teaching at SMAN 1 Malunda, including adaptations they made while on duty. In addition, a Focus Group Discussion was held after the PPL teacher assignment was completed to obtain additional information and some necessary data verification. Qualitative content and thematic analysis using NVivo 12 were implemented. Five phases passed in this analysis process: data import, coding, exploration, visualization, and data presentation. The finding of this study was that the PPL teachers at SMA Negeri 1 Malunda adapted through three stages, namely the period of observation, teaching preparation, and teaching actualization. Moreover, the PPL teachers believed that the earthquake and the Covid-19 pandemic simultaneously resulted in non-conducive educational activities in the school. The findings were significant for the PPL committee, school principals, and tutors in helping PPL students adapt and overcome the problems they face as new teachers.
