Abstract

Comedy has been a part of Indonesian culture. The development of comedy that can be seen nowadays is Stand-up Comedy. One of the Stand-up Comedy techniques that has been favored by Indonesian people is roasting. It is a series of jokes that functions to criticize a certain person such as a politician, celebrity, or minister. This study aims to analyze Kiky Saputri’s roasting to the Crazy Rich Andara named Raffi Ahmad. The data was taken from one of the videos from Indosiar YouTube channel. This study has applied the theory of Humor and Satire particularly Horatian and Juvernalian satire proposed by Holman and Rhetorical approach to communication to find out the meaning of Kiky's roasting content.  The findings have revealed that  each roasting delivered by Kiky does not only contain entertaining materials, but also critics to Raffi Ahmad

Abstract

Rural tourism is an important aspect of developing the economy of rural communities. This study discusses how the village government and the community of Gondoruso, Pasirian District, Lumajang initiate rural tourism, including the way they propose a strategic plan to increase rural tourism through information technology-based communication literacy. The qualitative descriptive research approach was employed for data collection and analysis. The findings illustrate that,  the initiative of stakeholders for the potential development of tourism in the village of Gondoruso to encourage the community's active role in order to comprehend the tourism potential through which the residents want to learn seriously about information technology which is currently developing rapidly. Besides, the local community also invite local governments to help prepare facilities and infrastructure. In regard with the strategic planning of an information technology-based village tourism communication literacy conducted through several steps; (1) forming Pokdarwis (a tourism awareness group). (2) Conduct information technology-based tourism literacy training for residents, especially youth. (3) Developing branding Gondoruso village tourism through online media both social media and websites.

Abstract

The existence of a student press institution at a university, through which the students can enhance their creativity with regard to journalism as well as a laboratory for students of the department of communication and broadcast, is pivotal. UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya has campus press and broadcasting institutions, such as campus television, radio, tabloids, and bulletins. This research seeks to examine the communication patterns of journalists and the professionalism of the assignment system within the student press institution at UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya. Using an ethnographic approach, this study has found that there are similarities in the news production system of student press with professional press institutions. Meanwhile, the communication pattern of the student press organization is multi-directional with a strong sense of brotherhood

Abstract

This study aims to find out how the strategy of public relations officers of the State Ministry for Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in rebranding cooperatives through Instagram @kemenkopukm in order to change the negative citra of society about cooperatives. A qualitative method with a case study approach is applied in this research. The results of the study show that the Public Relations of the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs rebrand with a content marketing of social media strategy as follows, 1). Setting goals to change the negative citra of society by holding modern cooperatives. 2). Mapping the target market and determining the target audience in accordance with the goals. 3). Content planning, making editorial plans and looking for strategic issues that will be displayed on social media content. 4). Content creation, conducting material research, then the material is written by a script writer. 5). Ensure the content distribution regarding cooperative rebranding content can be easily accessed by the audience. 6). Doing collaboration with several related parties, coordinating with the Cooperative Supervision Task Force, Bareskrim, Attorney General, Financial Services Authority, and the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs. 7). Content repetition and evaluation of content marketing to measure whether the targeted goals is relevant with the plan.

Abstract

Among Us is a virtual game that requires players to fill certain roles. This game forms interactions virtually between individuals in the Among Us game on the Discord application. The focus of this research is virtual social interaction on the Discord application of the game Among Us Indonesia.  This study uses a qualitative method with a virtual ethnographic approach. The results of the study show that positive associative social interaction is more dominant than the negative one among the players of the game. Factors supporting this domination of social communication are age and motivation to join the community. Although the social interaction only occurs virtually, the members have experienced an increase in the ability to interact and communicate socially both speaking and writing skills. In addition, there has been positive growth with regard to general knowledge and social awareness amongst the players.

Abstract

Campus community radio in Surabaya over the past 20 years has thrived. This study discusses the existence of campus community radio in Surabaya which is incorporated in the Surabaya Campus Radio (RKS) forum in the era of media convergence. This research method uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The results of the study have revealed that the existence of campus radio in Surabaya is more widely used for developing interests, talents, and training in broadcasting or for laboratory purposes. Many campus radio broadcasts use streaming technology via the internet and as content service providers or over the top. Meanwhile, the migration of frequency-based analogue radio to digital or streaming platforms, as a solution to limitations of frequency, in terms of broadcast program aspects, is feasible for migration. This is because through broadcast programs owned by campus community radio will be more competitive, because the digital techniques can encourage the growth of convergence which is beneficial for audiences not only to listen but they are also able to interact and discuss with topics as well as express opinions, so that they can meaningfully contribute to the programming
